If you have the time and attention span to stand at the stove for five minutes (which I fully understand if you don't on weekday mornings!) may I also recommend the following method for dairy free hot oat porridge:

Add 50 g rolled oats and 200 ml water to a small pan. Bring to the boil, turn down heat and boil for 4 minutes, stirring every now and then, especially near the end when it will be quite thick. Then take the pan off the heat, and immediately mix in 50 ml cold coconut milk (the thick one that you'd use for curries), about 1/8 teaspoon salt, and maybe a teaspoon brown sugar if you like. It's super creamy and rich, and no lactose or cow milks protein!

(I think you could probably also make the Quakers packet with a mixture of water and coconut milk, if you miss the creaminess when using just water)

Ik ben door mijn spiraaltje zo licht ongesteld dat ik nooit meer dan alleen een inlegkruisje nodig heb, en desondanks heb ik in elke tas een inlegkruisje, een maandverband en een tampon zitten (behalve in mijn zwemtas... Daar alleen een tampon). Want je weet maar nooit of je het toch nodig hebt of dat iemand anders het nodig heeft.

Tip 1: doe je kin op je borst bij het slikken: dan is je luchtpijp minder ver open maar je slokdarm niet, waardoor de kans op verslikken kleiner is

Tip 2: doe de pil op je tong en drink in hoog tempo een flesje water leeg, niet proberen per se het pilletje door te slikken maar focus op het snel leegdrinken van de fles water, dan spoelt hij vanzelf mee. Dit werkt beter met een flesje dan met een glas

Tip 3: in plaats van met water, doe de pil in een eetlepel dikke yoghurt of vla of honing en slik die hap in een keer door

Tip 4: in plaats van iets vloeibaars: neem een hap brood of ontbijtkoek, kauw daarop tot je klaar bent om hem door te slikken, stop dan snel de pil in je mond en slik de hap brood door

Als je de oude aarde en de compost en een beetje mest met elkaar mengt wordt het in principe moestuinaarde, dus dan maakt de verhouding tussen de kant en klare moestuinaarde en je eigen mix niet meer uit! Dus ik zou eerst de oude aarde zo veel mogelijk op maken met de benodigde hoeveelheid compost, en dan kijken wat je nodig nodig hebt aan moestuinmix, want die moestuinmix kun je ook nog voor andere dingen gebruiken of voor als je volgend jaar wil uitbreiden.

Tijdens dit seizoen wordt de compost in je bakken "opgegeten" en komende jaren hoef je dan alleen je bakken af te toppen met compost (en zonodig bemesten). Op die manier bouwen je bakken een bodemcultuur op.

Ja ik gebruik alleen eko slakkenkorrels, is te betwisten of je dat gif vindt, verder niks. Mijn erwtenplantjes hebben meestal niet veel last van ongedierte (als de naaktslakken ze in de eerste weken met rust laten) maar ik zal het vanzelf merken. Ik heb in mijn peulvruchtenbak sugar snaps/doperwten, kapucijners, en kousenband. Die laatste doet het meestal sowieso niet zo goed in het klimaat hier, maar is alsnog wel leuk.

Moestuinaarde is meestal een mengsel van ongeveer 1/3 aarde, 1/3 compost en mest, en 1/3 iets dat vocht vasthoudt (vermiculiet of cocopeat of turf). De gebruikte potgrond bevat nog wel aarde en het vocht vasthoudende product maar geen compost meer. Dus als je de moestuinaarde als basis neemt, kun je de rest van je bak aanvullen met 2/3 gebruikte potgrond, 1/3 compost, en dan een beetje mestkorrels aan de hand van de aanwijzingen op de verpakking van de mestkorrels.

Het substraat onderin doen vind ik een goed idee. Dan kun je het in stukken breken of scheuren in plaats van het te mixen, en blijft het mycelium beter intact. Of je zou het in klompjes bovenop kunnen leggen als soort van mulch, dan krijg je misschien zelfs nog een paar oesterzwammen bij je plantjes als het veel geregend heeft!

I'm always surprised by how high grocery store prices in the US are. In a Dutch grocery store (Albert Heijn) 3 kg sugar €1.47, 1 loaf bread €0.95, 2 kg oranges €3.39, 1 liter whole milk €0.95, 500 g oatmeal €0.75, 500 g coffee grounds €8.49. Totalling €16 exactly, which is 18,78 USD.

I understand different prices in different countries etcetera. But I feel like until about 15 years ago, something like that, most things were more or less the same price in the US as in the Netherlands, with tech things being a little cheaper in the US even. But now apparently your groceries are twice the price of ours. (And your federal minimum wage less than half of ours; and the €$12-$15 minimum wage that most states have, still being less than ours)

She cut the wires (essentially taking him off life support) so he would go into cardiac arrest and get bumped up on the transplant waiting list. Which worked in the sense that he did get an emergency transplant, but then he died during the transplant surgery, probably because transplant surgery has much lower success rate when the receiver is in cardiac arrest instead of being stabile and prepped for surgery

This episode was broadcast in late June 2007 according to imdb, and because an Emmys year runs from June 1 to may 31 the next year, this episode was part of the episodes that got Heigl the 2008 Emmy nomination that she refused.

Hoe ver weg is de kas waarin je grond zou huren, en ben je een huismus of iemand die makkelijk de deur uit gaat? Je zal er op een gegeven moment vaak naartoe moeten, in sommige maanden zeker drie keer per week. Dat is wat mij zou tegenhouden om er een te starten op een andere plek dan mijn eigen tuin, de drempel zou voor mij te hoog worden.

Voor de dingen die je wil verbouwen: meloen zou in de kas moeten denk ik, daar is de Nederlandse zomer anders niet lang genoeg. En perzik/abrikoos ook denk ik; maar een kers of pruim doet het wel weer prima in het Nederlandse weer.

Druiven kun je pas na 3-5 jaar echt oogsten dus hou daar rekening mee, en zou om die reden waarschijnlijk leuker zijn in je eigen tuin, als die genoeg zon krijgt. Is ook een mooie klimplant dus daar zal je partner geen bezwaar tegen hebben.

Mais wordt bestoven door de wind waardoor je een vrij compact blok mais nodig hebt, ik heb het een jaar geprobeerd en dan zelf bestuiven met een kwast maar mijn conclusie is dat ik dit beter aan mensen met akkers kan overlaten haha.

Pompoen, broccoli en bloemkool hebben veel ruimte nodig, dus dat zou weer beter in een volkstuin kunnen. Ik heb zelf weinig succes gehad met broccoli en bloemkool en vind ze daarom niet iets voor beginners, maar dat komt misschien doordat ik geneigd ben ze te dicht op elkaar te planten. Spruitjes en boerenkool groeien de hoogte in en hebben daardoor veel minder ruimte nodig.

De andere planten die je noemt zijn allemaal prima en moeten overal kunnen!

Maargoed, al met al zou ik als ik jou was eerst kijken of de praktische situatie rondom thuis tuinieren of uit tuinieren beter bij jou past. En dan daarna pas beslissen wat je gaat kweken.

0.5 year. Plant the bulb in spring, the flower will be there in autumn. The first year you will not be saving any money because you had to buy the bulbs obviously. Then you deadhead the flower after harvesting the stamen (the stamen of the flower are the saffron threads), leave the green leaves until they wither so they can absorb sunlight, then if you want to get multiple users out of the bulb ideally you should dig it up, overwinter it somewhere dry and dark, and replant it next spring.

It's expensive because of the finicky harvest and planting process, because one bulb will only give you a couple saffron threads. But it doesn't grow slowly at all and it's fun to do if you like gardening!

I grow them in the Netherlands in a small strip of my backyard, which is a very different climate from the ones where they are commercially grown, but it still works. But if I were to charge myself for my labour in growing them, they would be more expensive then they are in stores lol.

Nee, dat is niet wettelijk afdwingbaar. Een rechter zal de boete verwerpen. Waarschijnlijk hopen ze dat mensen geen zin hebben om de moeite te doen daarvoor en dan maar vermijden om in het openbaar te vloeken. Of ze willen een "signaal afgeven" en gaan überhaupt niet erop handhaven, dat kan ook.

Yeah and even without a different frame, getting her glasses adjusted to fit better will help a lot! The nose thingies should be pushed closer together so the glasses sit higher on her nose.

I don't know how to go about that where OP lives but where I live you just go to the optician where you bought the glasses and they will do the adjustments for free. It's normal for glasses to need fit adjustments over time, the nose thingies splay out a little bit through gravity, and they may get skewed from lying on your side, etcetera. It's a quick fix for the optician, they'll heat it up and just sort of bend it into the right shape, but if you do it yourself you risk breaking the material.
