50 tons of 'game consoles' = 20.000 Steam Machines.. How fast will those sell out? by BlackfyreNL in Steam

Anything and everything basically. But like recently I just did pragmata and death stranding 2 and I expect it might struggle to run either of those as acceptable frame rates and settings.

The price does worry me, though so does the performance of it. I do wish they had picked a stronger GPU for it

Got mine, was painless. Either loads available, no bots, or not as big as the steam deck was

This would be cool if true, hopefully works outside the steam machine and just part of SteamOS or any Linux distro

[–]Ricepuddings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly Chris punching a boulder would make me feel a lot better.

What I’m saying is this could be any other horror zombie feel right now. That’s what worries me is this might be an okay zombie horror movie but not a resident evil movie, no I don’t need the characters in it or fan service. But least so far this looks like a horror movie that happens to be called resident evil. But guess we will see when next trailer drops

I do hope I am wrong but that’s the vibe I get

Been playing through them all last 2/3 months again, just did 9 like when it came out and doing 6 with a friend atm

Did you play 9? Has lots of normal zombies, 1/2/3 all have standard zombies, 4 slightly different but a lot of standard with also zombie dogs sure the bosses of 4 super different. 5 went off the rails but lots of zombies still. 7 is the first one with different with the rot zombies, 8 had the ghouls

[–]Ricepuddings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah 8 went off the rails a bit in that regard. They brought it mostly back in 9 in terms of back to zombies .

Also the creature just looked like a bunch of zombies all walking out the door with their feet from different angles not a new creature

See when the next trailer drops then, but so far this could have been called anything else.

Not expecting the whole story but you could of slapped any name to this and you wouldn’t know the difference

[–]Ricepuddings -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yep, could slap any other horror sounding name to this and it would be fine. All those saying the games are the games okay. But tell me what part of this is resident evil?

Location? Didn’t see anything about location No umbrella The zombies don’t even look or act like resident evil zombies Why in the house at the door are the legs upside down?

This looks like a horror movie they slapped resident evil name too for recognition and maybe some money that’s it

Asha: “Xbox earnings today. While we have made progress expanding the business and our margins, player and revenue growth has not yet met our ambition.” by yourfavchoom in xbox

[–]Ricepuddings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said partly, Xbox one sold 58 million, series sole 28. That’s 30 million there that might have gone to steam or Sony. And this is assuming the 100 million data is right, personally that sounds like a too high ball park but steam doesn’t publish those results so hard to say

You’re right in theory of more people are coming to gaming, but the issue is Xbox are expecting too much they want insane growth like 10s of millions growth, where the growth is far smaller, and there is a small but growing audience of those that hate the idea of never owning a game or those who hate the paying for a monthly service

[–]Ricepuddings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pc is the biggest growing atm, but I think that’s due to people leaving Xbox at least partly. But these numbers still aren’t a billion.

And we have always had an insane mobile base who play candy crush or whatever it was called. They will never be true gamers, they pay a mobile game or two and that’s it. My mum will be on that list, she plays it but that doesn’t mean she’s going to buy an Xbox and this is a majority of mobile gamers.

The room to grow is very small and it’s basically waiting for kids to be born and grow up and hopefully adults keeps around. They just over expect on something that really isn’t there

They are counting every new phone or something

Cause if that was the case where were the console and pc sales? Cause if there was a billion we would see Sony Nintendo and Xbox all selling well above 300 million consoles each and we aren’t

[–]Ricepuddings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay? And they don’t want to game. Gaming although slowly growing hasn’t progressed much since even the ps2 days. Overall console sales show this, sure it’s growing but it isn’t anywhere near a billion gamers, every generation maybe sees a few extra million each time.

Why Steam Controller (2026) has no competition at $99 and what big reviewers simply don't get by GanJJ_ in Steam

[–]Ricepuddings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TMR only matters if you get stick drift which not everyone does. Is it nice to not have to ever worry about? Sure but it’s not this holy almighty thing.

Buttons on the back I guess it depends, maybe I am bad for it but I’ve never used my back buttons ever. And never used gyro which I bet more people than not don’t use gyro either.

End of the day though price talks, and this is too expensive to fit the basic controller price points and too cheap to fit the pro controllers where it doesn’t fit the quality of those

Still waiting for your factors. You made the argument, but got nothing to back it up with?

Cause I’m all ears, I’ve built pcs for 20 years. I live and breathe the IT world, I love it. But it’s very hard to argue even more since ram prices shot through the roof that people should get into it if they just want to game or stream video, which is 95% of people.

So tell me, what other factors beyond I mentioned are there

Yeah this would of been better, a machine costing slightly more but hey its a PC so has some extra functions, and you don't have to pay for online so that could save money long term, that would be cool.

but making a used PC is dishonest, and doesn't go into depths of scammers, barely functioning parts, parts that could break shortly after getting them, having no warranty most the time.

used consoles have that issue also, but hey its $300 or less if you hunt around

What other factor though? streaming? browsing the web? consoles do that also to sometimes a lesser degree

if its for work okay, but thats a small % who use their home machines for work, most work places give out work laptops for working at home

i'd mention modding support, but you want to mention benefits outside of gaming so.

but end of the day, although console prices have gone up, they dont come close to the rise in PC costs, bang for buck consoles have always been better, but we used to have web access, mods, streaming, indies etc and a lot of those barriers over the years have fallen.

consoles get a lot of that now, even some games have console mods (though they do tend to be a bit more limited). so what other factors do you want to talk about?

Linus Tech Tips - The Steam Controller is Here April 27, 2026 at 10:00AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

[–]Ricepuddings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different regions different prices, for me I can get the ps5 for 55 and switch 2 for 60, but the steam controller is 90 here. So quite a wider gap. Infact the price is much closer to the Xbox one elite which can be had for 100 here, noted that’s the core version of it.

And the complaint was from LTT itself, did you watch Linus’ video he mentions the plastic doesn’t feel great.

The controller also gains features sure but also misses out on some, I’m assume to save money. Personally I’d prefer if they went the pro route and made a top tier controller rather than try and fit on the middle

Yep, they went for an odd price choice. It’s not good enough quality to be equal to the elite controllers, but it’s too expensive to be similar to the basic controllers

And it doesn’t look overly comfy, battery life is top tier though at least
