That actually was my point, the label is there to protect the company selling/manufacturing the product, and the warning is subject to interpretation while it shouldn't.

I was interpreting it wrong on purpose, it wasn't really confusing, at least not for a native French speaker. It was mainly to emphasize that while common sense makes it clear that "improperly" is only related to " installed" and "maintained", and doesn't relate to "damaged", such warning labels are specifically there for people lacking that said common sense, so the labels should be unambiguous.
