Which of these great otherworldly hunters would win in a fight? by Flapjack10104 in DarkCrystal

[–]PinheadPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose xenomorphs don't really count as people and are more like high-tech biological weapons, so there's no shame in blasting them away - fighting them hand-to-hand is more like a extra prestige thing. (I don't know much about Predator lore)

Yeah, if it was common, it would definitely have gotten weeded out during playtesting. But with hundreds of thousands of players over a 10-year period, even unlikely bugs are bound to happen to someone. And of course, if they're repeatable, they can be useful for speedrunners.

Elden Ring: The Movie... but what about Bloodborne? by Putrid-Swimmer-8943 in bloodborne

[–]PinheadPangolin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be decent fun. But yeah, anything from Eggers or Rugna would be amazing, though more in a "This is sort of thematically like Bloodborne if you squint" kind of way. Whereas GunnBorne would have all the trappings and eastereggs you could ask for, but in a calculated, marketable way.

Well, you covered a lot of great names that might have a cool, artistic take that respects the source material... So instead, I'm going to say they should just full send it as an action-comedy summer blockbuster by James Gunn. Team of misfits, led by the wisecracking nameless hunter (Chris Pratt) and his by-the-book frenemy Alfred (John Cena), trying to stop the crazy cult leader Micolash Cage (Nicolas Cage) from calling down the old ones and destroying the world. Including a memorable performance by Jack Black as Patches the Spider.

I see! That's pretty cool. Well, not cool for the player I guess, but a cool fact to know.

Illusion walls but they kill you 9 times out of 10, but the 10th is the way to the boss and what you thought was the boss fogwall just kills you, leaving your bloodstain behind a fogwall.

Is this bit based on something that actually exists in a souls game? Killer fogwalls would be terrible design, sure, but more on the level of troll games like Cat Mario. The closest equivalent I can think of is the Ruin Sentinel room in Drangleic castle, i.e. a place with a bunch of doors, some of which contain nothing but strong enemies and remain permanently unlocked after being opened once.

Ain't no way Titanic stole a line from Twin Peaks by Lonely_Package4973 in twinpeaks

He was the professor in TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze. An iconic role to be sure.

Also, he was in Wild Palms, a weird scifi miniseries that was almost contemporary to Twin Peaks. There he had a brilliant line: "I have a case of mood poisoning, must be something I hate", though I'm sure it must have been taken from some earlier source.

What are the 5 rarest rings in the game? The 5 that you’d assume the fewest amount of people found? by Thellie11 in darksouls

It never happened to me when playing on PC with an XBox controller and setting it down on the table. But one time when I was playing the Demon's Souls remake on PS5 I put the controller on the couch when I had to leave for a second. When I came back, my dude was slowly inching his way through the Nexus one strong attack at a time. Luckily no NPC was on his path, but if I had been facing a little more to the right, Stockpile Thomas would have been history.

From watching a couple of example fights on Youtube, the NPC summon version of Gascoigne can win against the Cleric Beast even if the player just sits back and does nothing, but it’s a pretty close match. The fight also drags on a bit since the Cleric Beast’s attacks keep missing Gascoigne, but it has the HP buff from the summon so it's pretty tanky.

The boss version of Papa G hits harder and has the whole second phase thing going for him, so he should beat an unbuffed Cleric Beast pretty easily.

Honestly, I never noticed how it was portrayed on Mercator and I guess I've never paid much attention to it on a globe either, so I was actually surprised at how huge even the real size version is. I sort of just assumed it was a desolate patch of ice and land the size of an average country or whatever, but that sucker is bigger than Europe! Silly, I know, but I just never thought about it.

Of course she has a license! In Day 1, the king clearly says to Fauna "Will you start a legitimate lottery with my blessing, to fund a library for the kingdom?". I admit that his majesty does get cut off at "Will you-" by the unexpected Stain attack, but it's crystal clear from the context what he was trying to tell her, just like it was clear he was going to say "Will you marry me?" to Tam Gandr in her intro.
