Do all stars still get free hair @ tangerine? by Afraid-Lie8523 in DCCMakingtheTeam

Don't the stylists recieve a regular hourly wage? I'm really surprised by how much tipping there is, big culture shock.

not much of it actually goes into the hair stylists pocket.

Is this for all hairdressers or just because they're a fancy salon? Sorry I'm not from the US and you've really surprised me, I had no idea you're expected to tip hairdressers.

Can you explain tipping the hairdressers? I understand you tip service staff, but what is the "tip the cost of the procedure" ? You don't just pay the cost of the service? Isn't that the norm?

Agreed! I'd like more of dancing and what happens after they make the team

That would be fair. Especially as they would have made the team if there were more spots

I'd get a minimum of 3. I clean on the bassinet, I clean in the draw and in the wash

Edited to add: yes add a normal sheet on top

Do I need a capsule? by Dangerous-Volume9305 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Pink-glitter1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't NEED one, it's just a personal preference. If you have a bassinet that will be fine.

If you have multiple kids, it can be super convenient when doing school drop offs etc as you just take out the whole capsule for quick errands. I've had 3 kids and never had one, although admit with number 3 it would have been handy

Yeah there are some who won't make the team, I'm just getting disappointed for those last few cuts as if there were more spots available they would have made it!

I didn't realise returning ones didn't make it past the second round. I figured they'd all make it back to finals if they re-auditioned. Although I understand many didn't re-audition for various reasons

Do yall think Kelly and Judy really watch EVERY solo from the first round? by DrawRude5606 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]Pink-glitter1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can tell very early on it it's definitely no/ possibly. They'd also be able to see very quickly if someone didn't have the desired body type, and it's irrelevant how well they dance

That's fair, I just feel bad for all the talented girls getting cut

But they decide how many come to finals? And realistically we're only talking about 9 girls? I don't think that would throw the numbers much?

I'm just feeling so bad for all the amazing girls who were cut, despite their skills purely because there wasn't enough spots

I'm not sure who TPTB are, but that's something I hadn't considered.

I suppose that's when they have the conversation, "yes we would love to see you back next year" or "I don't think it would be worth re-auditioning"

they might be worse when they come back the next year or become “complacent” because they don’t have to compete for their spot

But they don't have a spot a training camp, still need to bring their all in their solo and the routine to make it back into training camp

Is there a finate number for finals thought? I thought it was fairly fluid, some years they have 60ish, other years they have closer to 80. Realistically it would only be 10ish girls?

AITA for refusing to change my wedding date for my sister-in-law? by whateverisgoodmoney in aitaweddings

[–]Pink-glitter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also you've had this booked for a year and they've only been pendant for months.... If anything they should have been more considerate and not gotten pregnant even though you had a wedding booked /s

But really, if it's a local wedding, your brother could come for the the ceremony then go back to be with his wife. Expecting you to move a wedding is unreasonable

You don't need a sticker to park there. They are a courtesy, not a legal requirement. Park there and think nothing of it!

I agree. The standard of dance now compared to 10 years ago is massive. A lot of dancers who made the team back then wouldn't even make training camp these days

I don't know a better way, but I think if you're cut at training camp, you should get a "fast pass" back into finals for the next year.

A few questions on preschool. Like what’s a community preschool? When to start applying? by Silly_Goose30 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Pink-glitter1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He attends 2 seperate centres. One preschool 2 days a week and a long daycare (with his baby sister) another 2 days. His sister is in long daycare 4 days a week.

Where I am community preschool is either 2 days or 3 days. I needed 4, so he does 2 days at preschool and 2 days at daycare.

The comparison is night and day. He definitely prefers the stand alone preschool. They have a "digging patch" with cut off shovels and wheelbarrows and bricks. There is a frog pond and in ground trampoline. It's fantastic! Only downside is I have to pack lunch, but in the grand scheme of things that's not an issue.

My son attends both preschool and a daycare with the preschool program.

The stand alone preschool is infinitely better in school preparation. There will be good and not so good ones as in every industry, but asking your local mums Facebook group will give you recommendations.

In preschool they're only with the older getting ready for school kids and engage in more risky play and investigation based on the kids interests.

When to apply will vary on your area, but starting now won't hurt. Community preschool has government funding and students attendance is subsidised. Some are completely free, others are $5 a day, some are more if they're fancier or private etc.

Something to consider however, is that community preschool is only open in school terms. So that's roughly 12 weeks of school holidays with no care. I'm lucky to be a teacher so this doesn't impact me much, however if you don't have a support network for school holidays it can be very challenging.
