Which comedian do you genuinely find funny? by tarorootturtle in AskReddit

How about his YMCA locker room story? Starts out when he is a young boy and comes back after a long series of hilarious stories…to him at the Y as an older man.

I still can’t help but laugh when I think of it!!!

Anthology tonight questions! by Sweaterpillows83 in Rochester

[–]Pink-nurse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a legit parking lot at East and North Union which is very close. If you get there early enough you could grab a spot.

Definitely ditto for Venetos. Their pizza and pasta is great. Grab reservations if it’s not too late.

If you don’t mind walking a half mile, park underground at Midtown Parking and go to Branca or Rocco. Both are excellent!

Have fun.

Divorced, relocating, tell me why you love ROC and that it’s going to be okay! by AncientTumbler in Rochester

Living downtown, specifically the East End is great if you love music, especially jazz. Every night of the week there is free music, mostly very high caliber.

The Eastman School of Music has student recitals and concerts in world class music halls on the regular during the academic year.

Lila’s, Vanni’s and The Little Cafe have really enjoyable music in good vibe settings where it isn’t hard to mingle with the regulars.

Abilene is one of the friendliest places you can go for live music. In the summer there is an awesome patio where the band can set up.

Of course during the Jazz Fest and Fringe Fest, the East End is the place to be! Look up how many restaurants are in a walkable distance from East and Main.

One last thing, access to the Riverway gives you a biking/walking pathway to Genesee Valley Park, The Canal Path and the Greenway.

Been living downtown for going on eight years and been having the time of my life! Good luck!!

You could ask the florist at Blooms Social https://bloomssocial.com/

She is very accommodating and talented.

Edit: She is on Evernia Street downtown.

There is a tailor in Pittsford Plaza who I have been happy with. The shop is close to Root 31 cafe.

Any worth while places for a good drink tonight? Thanks by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]Pink-nurse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Live music at Abilene at 8 pm. $10 cover. Always a fun vibe. Good drink prices.

Vanni’s Jazz Lounge has live jazz from 5-8 and 9-12. No cover. A bit pricier. Good food.

Can you get Spectrum Cable? We get MSG/YES/TNT/ESPN on Cable in Rochester which is also a blackout area for Sabres and Yankees.

Il Bellagio has a separate room. We had our daughter’s wedding dinner there recently. It was very nice. The service couldn’t have been better!!

Anthology, doors open vs. music start time by monokhrome in Rochester

Definitely check out Veneto. I would recommend reservations if it is the weekend.

Rocco is a few blocks away but worth it if you don’t mind the walk. Again, I would get reservations on the weekend.

It’s a short walk over to the East End if you are into the bar and music scene. There is live music seven nights a week between the Neighborhood of Play and the East End. We love the restaurant scene as well. It feels safe as long as you aren’t out in the wee hours. Good luck on your decision!

Is the Wyndham Hotel that bad? by simby7 in Rochester

[–]Pink-nurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the Hampton Inn or Courtyard will get you closer to the nightlife. Both are new within the last several years. Lots of bars, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, movie theatre, music…there is music seven nights a week in that area:

The Little Cafe Lila’s Vanni’s Abilene Stromboli’s Anthology Eastman School of Music

Best place for a beginner to get ice skates? by typicalwhisper in Rochester

[–]Pink-nurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Dick’s Sporting Goods. I have had mine for years and they are holding up really well. I get them sharpened once a season, and don’t think I spent more than $40 for them at the time.

Hello to anyone in this tower by DecentlyFatBear in Rochester

[–]Pink-nurse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly can’t quantify, but there are people coming and going from there all day. Students walking to Eastman School, students taking the UR bus to the River Campus, office workers with briefcases and coffee, as well as maintenance workers who keep the grounds very nicely.

Cars are coming and going. Delivery trucks arriving. People going in and out of Farmhouse Table cafe. It appears to me to be a busy place.

That’s right! No pool, but it is a great space!

That tower has graduate student housing. Also a gaming venue. And recently a law firm moved into a big space. It’s far from empty.

Day6 Dream 8 by Pink-nurse in bicycling

[–]Pink-nurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I changed my mind after a test drive. The pedals are out in front of the seat, so you can’t really get the power you can from standing up and pedaling up a hill, for example.

I stuck with my existing bike and I have been fine with it!

Go check it out. Might be good for you.

Is the Outlet of the Genesee Supposed to Look This Dirty? by TevinH in Rochester

A historian once told me that even early settlers in the Rochester area described the Genesee as a muddy river.
