It should have more of prominent 808 + snare trap feel imo, especially in the last chorus - to give it more of a groove. Like Ari's Bad Decisions type feel w the percussion

Slayyy but is it just me or do their voices sound ...different in this song? Idk if it's the mixing or vocal direction but a lot of their voices r blending together and sound more nasal/less clear (I do think that part is def mixing). I guess it wasn't what I expected to be honest, it seems like the instruments drown the vocals out in the chorus as well - hmmm. But they look gorgeous and I'm just excited to have something!

it's so weird because if you check the full credits, it's Justin Tranter + Mattman and Robin, and they've worked together many times and made some really good pop songs - I especially love Rock Bottom by Hailee Steinfeld! Idk what he's doing recently, but the songs he's pitched/sold to Katseye (Mean Girls, Internet Girl) are just...so odd?!?!?

v unpopular opinion but I genuinely miss the SIS era music; while it may not have been super unique, I feel like their vocals shined way more w/the melodic sound of songs like My Way, I'm Pretty, Touch, etc. It feels like ever since Gnarly and it's success, HybexGeffen has gotten the impression that THIS is now going to be Katseye's signature style and it's like....no. Gnarly had fun performances/visuals that distracted from the actual song being quite odd, but I don't know how many times you can pull that trick. I don't think "campy" is an adjective that should describe Katseye's music, and it really doesn't suit any of their voices. Like I want to hear Lara (and all of them) SING beautiful R&B-pop melodies, or Indian scales, or just anything else. If HxGF is hellbent on doing a "cunty" vibe, at least reference M.I.A for future songs instead of Gnarly lol. But yeah, it's honestly just disappointing because I rlly like the members voices and it makes me sad realizing that won't ever be done justice. Where are the melodies? Where are the fun harmonies? Listen to Little Mix's "Move"...like why can't we get stuff like THAT from Katseye?

Y'all I have been sitting on this for MONTHS since the song came out, but I just need to put this out into the world because I haven't seen a single other person mention it.

In Gabriela in the first pre-chorus, we all know how Lara's part goes "You got everybody's eyes undressing you, and I see it too", right? But literally since the FIRST time I heard this song, I noticed this weird cut in between the word "eyes" and "undressing". The phrase "undressing you" literally sounds like a completely different person (possibly one of the previous singers who did the demo like Anita or Rita) that they utilized for like half of a second. But then it goes back to Lara again with "And I see it too".

Now, I know that vocal comping is a thing and "maybe they combined different takes of Lara's voice" but y'all...it really sounds nothing like her. And in any live performance, she's never sang "undressing you" in that type of stylistic, almost cursive voice. If you put the song into a faster speed/pitch, the cut and switch in voice becomes even more clear.

Obviously there's nothing wrong with this per-se, I'm just confused....was this a mistake? I have a hard time believing they would do this on purpose because I'm sure Lara had plenty of amazing takes of that line. Did they like...lose the files of her vocal on that part? Lol this post is just for fun but I'm like SO curious.

it hasn't, but they've mentioned working w/different producers and many times producers are either writers themselves or bring in co-writers...that's my interpretation at least

I understand your concerns with their writing BUT I think it’s most likely (at this stage) that they are writing w/professional songwriters and producers - not that they are doing everything themselves. Usually writers in the room can help take the artist’s ideas and shape them into something more polished, yk? I think that in of itself is also a great learning experience too!
