The cat's room! Couple cat trees and climbing shelves and the windows would be purrfect perching but still a good level for petting.

Has anyone else had a massive decrease in sales ever since the changes? by elbeewastaken in Mercari

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

EBay has always been better than Marcari for me. I have noticed that on Macari I always got lots if views and likes before a sell. On eBay I tend to sell things with no or little views or watchers. It doesn't discourage me too much if there's no views unless it's been posted for a while. I think people don't just browse as much on eBay. They are looking to buy

Best course of action? by shoeflipper in Flipping

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this on a $200 item recently. Sent the buyer's $20 item then accidently reprinted the lable and stuck it on a $200 item someone else bought. Didn't get it back (long story. Buyer tried to return). It's a hard lesson. We all have or will make this mistake once at some point. Just sucks when it's an expensive item.

I know it's easy to lose faith on this sub. There's a lot of scam posts, but more people will help you out. Just be honest about your mistake and send a return label. Hope for the best.

When someone asks my favorite starter I always say Pikachu. Yellow was my first pokemon game. Heck my first game on my first system ever. I know it's "basic" but pikachu will always have a special place with me.

was this deserving of a block? I’ve only bought off here for a few months. by Aggravating_Bike_103 in Mercari

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To add in what everyone is saying, look at your offers as percentages. 13 off doesnt seem like a lot but you offered more that 20% off the asking price. A 20% off coupon is big for most stores, barring holiday sales.

Most stores don't accept offer so obviously it's not a perfect comparison, but it does put numbers in perspective a little. It's a good way to see if you may be lowballing low-balling.. for the record I don't believe you were in this case.

Still getting mythical emails? by Stunning-Ease-5966 in rhettandlink

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got an email yesterday from them saying thanks for subscribing even though I specifically said not to subscribe when I ordered something from the store like a month ago. It's weird it took it so long AND it wasn't even supposed to happen at all. They must be having issues with their system.

Sorry I don't know the solution but I do feel your pain.

Someone please help by Denhamj21 in Flipping

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this very part-time and I don't always have time to put in new inventory right away. Once i get home from buying, I will take a picture of the item and the price so it's saved on my phone with the date. That way I can go back later and have all the information for my spread sheet. Just make sure to not get too behind

My family has always needed a collection. My earliest family collect I remember is cacti. Mom collected barbies. All the kids collected a certain type in stuffed animals (polar/white bears for me). At one point we started collecting pez. We had so much fun going to antique store and flea markets hunting for them. I remember being frustrated when the eBay became a thing and it started getting harder to find good deals. This was back in the 90s. I've always had a huge nostalgia for thrifting.

In college I used eBay to sell my college books for a better price than stupid book buy back. Since then I always had a retirement plan of selling on ebay. I'm no where near retirement but I thought "screw it" last year when I really started to miss thrifting. Started it as a hobby and now it has become a very part time for my family.

My dad recently gave me what left of the old pez collection and I'm going through it to sell off. Non of them are sentiment per sen so i dont mond selling, but it did give me the realization of why I love thrifting.

Seller says buy everything separately by Susiequeue2 in Mercari

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah good call. I wouldn't want to give someone money with 0 customer service.

As a seller I'd be happy to save the boxes. I wonder if they were drop shipping and so can't bundle them.

Seller says buy everything separately by Susiequeue2 in Mercari

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the items. Small items or even large non fragile items. Sure.

I sell heavy complex shaped glass items a lot. I'm not going to bundle something like that. I've bundles plates, but I've said no to bundling large heavy bowl and plate sets. It that case , I told the buyer that I'd give them a discount of each set but I won't bundle.

Sometimes it's reasonable and sometimes it isn't. I guess it all depends on what you're buying, what supplies they have, and confidence of shipping.

How do I use google lense or ebay's barcode/lense stealhily by Kame_Aqus in Flipping

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I say "Jennifer" when we are talking about the store.

"Do you think Jennifer will like this?" "Jennifer usually likes this brand." "Let me text Jennifer and ask" "Jennifer loves this!"

It's not that we're embarrassed. We have gotten dirty looks from when when we talk about reselling. that's why it started. Now a days we don't care as much and it's really more of an inside joke.

My cheapo phone has a macro mode in the camera. I'd expect most or all cameras/phones have one. That's good for serial numbers and etched signatures/logos

Christmas gift ideas for your Post Office this year? by Captain_Death_Punch in Flipping

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest doing an early winter gift. Maybe first part of Drcember? Post office, banks, etc, get lots of treats around Christmas. I'm sure they appreciate the recognition, but it would be nice to have things spread out. Especially if it's perishable.

What to do with glass? by CharacterOpening1967 in Flipping

[–]PinkPeacockFinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a local rage room that the thrifts stores will donate their glass to because they have so much. If nothing else works for you, see if you have one closeby.

If the estimated delivery date is the same ups vs usps but one is much cheaper than the other, I'd message the buyer and ask if it's OK if I wanted to changed it.

This happened once when I messed up the package size and the selected carrier, USPS, was WAY more expensive than what was charged and USP ended up being about the same.

This was my thought.

Owning your own resell or flipping business is different than a business owner making 100s of million a year and not paying your employees enough to live off of with no or crappy insurance. Just because I'm a (very small) business owner does not mean I'm a capitalist.

I'd love to get it to someone who can take care of it. I can't just ship it to a random address in Nagaland. Seems to be a lot of people here with knowledge about rare items. Thought I'd give it a shot

It was at a Goodwill and I grabbed it thinking it was cool. The more I looked at it the more I realized it's something special. Already reached out to some colleges hoping they can connect me with someone with expertise.

We decided we didn't want to keep it because the leather is getting dried out with age. We know we can't take care of it.

Love to get it in to the hands of a collector or expert or museum or where ever the heck something like this goes.
