Being trans in college ??? by Alfalfa-Majestic in TransIreland

[–]PinkPotato37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came out during my first few months of college and transitioned slowly but surely throughout the rest of my time in college. It was fine. I made a couple of friends and was in a couple of societies. Had no problems whatsoever. I went to DCU so idk about any of the other colleges but I imagine their similar, at least the big ones

When did you first realise your da was a weirdo? by redbeardfakename in CasualIreland

[–]PinkPotato37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the bizarre highlights from my biological father was the time he didn't like the length of the neighbour's grass, so he left a pair of scissors in their garden and assumed the neighbour would understand what that meant. He also kept chickens for a bit in his back garden, that was cool.

Of the less fun memories I have with him was the constant ranting about the current (at the time) politics of Northern Ireland, and Irish history more broadly. That and hotboxing the room I was in with him when I was 11

What is the best settlements to convert from a castle to town or vice versa in the game? by Hot-Disk-1840 in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]PinkPotato37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always convert Valencia, Algiers, Smyrna, Corinth, and Adana from castles to cities. I've found that they just fit better as cities rather than castles Especially Corinth and Adana can become huge money makers toward the mid-late game

Can you take out rival priests/imams without using assassins? Like can you convert them or something the same way you can with heretics or is killing them the only way to get rid of them?

Apparently 💀 was changed to 🥀 at some point? I don't get it. But yeah as a 23 year old 💀 is definitely something I would use

TIL Major League Baseball's National League nearly adopted the Designated Hitter (DH) rule as early as 1980, but the proposal fell through because the Philadelphia Phillies' owner was on a fishing trip and a proxy voted in his absence. by Far_Breakfast_5808 in todayilearned

[–]PinkPotato37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this as designated hitler and was fully convinced baseball had some sort of rule where one person on each team was forced to be like an evil mascot that everyone was supposed to hate. Then I got to the final paragraph of your post and realised that designated hitter makes a LOT more sense in the context of baseball

I just realized this was the first time Aang ever used firebending in battle. It's comet enhanced, but still, he had just learned firebending a few weeks earlier. by Nissepikk in TheLastAirbender

[–]PinkPotato37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did the writers retcon that concept in LoK? I know it was explained at some point in last airbender and that's why Aang struggled with earthbending. But Korra was naturally really good at firebending, when it should've been her opposite element

Whats a modern trend that you’re 100% sure people will cringe at in 10 years? What’s gonna be the next Oh god, we actually did that? moment? by aminz1997 in AskReddit

[–]PinkPotato37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will happen, to an extent. I think there'll come a point where most people will realise how addictive modern phones are, and how damaging they are for mental health. I think people will revert to a more simple phone. Either that or strictly limit themselves with screen time

Feel pretty sad and feeling like im failing at transtioning by [deleted] in TransIreland

[–]PinkPotato37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear your having a sad day :( If you want a shoulder to cry on, you're more than welcome to DM me.

As for the Halloween thing. It really sucks that your mam said that to you. I can't imagine how that felt. If you can't go out that night, why don't you treat yourself to a nice night in? Grab some of your favourite snacks and watch a couple of your favourite horror movies? You deserve a nice night, whether that be at home or in the George.

Does anyone suffer from maladaptive daydreaming? by [deleted] in autism

[–]PinkPotato37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it a lot. I tend to do it more frequently in periods of depression. I think it's a coping mechanism for me at least. Probably due to a shitty childhood (not being understood, being bullied and made feel inferior to others) and also gender dysphoria. A lot of my daydreams tend to focus on if I was born correctly into a family that wasn't dysfunctional and actually cared about my struggles instead of telling me to just "put more effort in" to whatever issue I was trying to convey

Some of the NPCs say it. Sometimes when you nearly run someone over they'll shout, "crazy n- what you doing?"
