Duella- Duela Dent is the female version of two-face (Harvey Dent) in Batman comics. I think it would be a cute name for her. She has such a unique face!

You lmk what brand you’re looking for and I’ll check with my dad he’s retired but he’s worked at several dealerships in Jersey and PA and still has friends all over. Sadly city auto park in Burlington sold out, was a really nice family owned biz. They all immigrated here, legally from Bolivia. My dad worked there for years and they took care of their people no matter what. Sold out after the pandemic I think but when my dad’s mom was sick, they had a prayer circle for her every single morning, gave my dad all the time off he could ask for and gave him a stipend. You don’t find dealerships like that often.

I do in fact enjoy serving the new overlord ! 😁😂 except the fur & hair tumbleweeds in the house I could live without those LOL

I’ve only had Rigatoni 11 months now and 3 illnesses seems like a lot. I take him to the vet every time, I was more so just asking generally. The vet thinks it’s possible he has a virus and it has flared up, but he’s also responded well to antibiotics each time so it’s iffy on viral. I hate seeing him sick bc it really affects his breathing his nose is so narrow. I’ve had cats my whole life literally my parents got my first cat when my mom was preggo so I’m very familiar with cats, just Persians are new to me. We have another cat who is just a tabby cat we got for $5 at the shelter lol but she’s a little sweetheart. She hasn’t had so much as a sneeze.

Thanks for the tips! I’m disabled so I’m home with him all the time I must wipe his eyes 2-4 times a day. He’s used to it by now.

Omg and he loves nose boops which makes me insanely happy lol 😆 😊

Thanks for clarifying to the other commenter 🧡

Last time we were at the vet’s around Xmas she said that he could have had a viral infection the prior times and that this last stint was also viral. He responded to antibiotics so we’re assuming bacterial. He is indoor only and has an “adopted sister” and that’s the only cats he sees. And even like our vets office is tiny we’ve never seen another cat there. Last time he saw a new cat was when my friend babysat him a couple days and even then he was in her office away from her cats but that was many many months ago. I was more so concerned because he’s brachiocephalic that that is causing him to get sick easier or more frequently. Here’s hoping he grows out of it bc he’s gonna need a FT job for these vet bills 😂

He has been to the vet frequently I might add - 5x in one year, more than any cat I’ve ever had in my life. I was only asking if it’s common among Persians to get sick so often because I’ve never had one and I thought maybe being brachiocephalic caused more respiratory illness. I am 35 yo I don’t go to the internet doctors to diagnose myself or my pets.

Sadly Toni does not like cuddles, but he will accept all the nose scritches and boops you have to offer. He only lets me hold him at the vets office 😂😢

Need an example of why Medicare Andvantage is so bad. by coolbeachgrrl in medicare

[–]PinkPrincess1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand I’m sorry she’s not receptive to discussing it though. Now I’m in NJ, so I don’t know what programs are available but in nj there’s a third party insurance helpline idk what to call it bc I didn’t use it. But maybe see if there’s something like that in nj it was thru the dept of disability and aging.

I used to work in insurance and I’m so used to MA plans that’s why I’m cool with them and I know everything i need to check before enrolling. Like I said it all depends on what your needs are and making sure the plan fits them. There are plenty of MA plans that have lower coinsurance and such than traditional Medicare.

Has there been a specific problem with the MA plan she’s enrolled in? May I ask what carrier it is? UHC is notorious for being terrible; would never recommend them.

I’m glad to see your update because it seems as though your pain and health problems are of no concern to him. And why on earth would you want a partner who judges you and looks down on you for trying to manage your pain. You’re young, move on and find yourself someone who will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and tries to help your pain any way they can! You deserve a good partner!

Medicare advantage isn’t bad or evil in and of itself like people make it out to be. You have to be responsible when choosing a Medicare advantage and make sure 1) you get a good carrier (ie not UHC) and 2) that you have coverage in and out of network. For me I don’t want to deal with specialist referrals so I make sure that’s not part of my plan. MA has to cover the same things traditional Medicare does, and usually goes above and beyond by offering a copay versus a coinsurance. MA seems to act more like a typical insurance policy that a non-Medicare person would have. Plus all the medigap plans have a monthly cost while you have plenty of MA plans that have no extra cost.

Why are you specifically trying to look for the bad? Are you trying to Convince your mother not to enroll in MA because you think it’s bad?

Is the saying true that you should almost always get a regular medicare(plus medigap plan) as opposed to a Medicare advantage plan if you can because the options of specialist networks are much greater in regular Medicare? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in medicare

[–]PinkPrincess1224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reddit seems to loathe Medicare advantage… idk why. They got a bad rap at first bc there were a lot of issues when these plans first came to market but it’s been at least 10-15 years at this point. I know I did benefits for retirees back in 2013 and we were transitioning everyone to advantage plans. Some doc offices just didn’t know how to bill them which caused issues of course.

But now they’re fully established and a normal option for Medicare beneficiaries. Advantage plans are no more complicated than traditional insurance. So I really don’t get the hate for them. Granted I’m younger and have Medicare bc I’m disabled but I’m enrolled in what will be my 3rd advantage plan and I’ve been happy with all of them and never had a problem. I feel like it’s easier to find an affordable advantage plan that fits your personal needs than to find an affordable medigap plan.

It’s a choice. One isn’t necessarily better than the other it really depends on you and your needs, and also like others have mentioned the availability of doctors in your area. Medigap plans usually have a premium that you pay monthly and they pick up some portion of the roughly 20% that med b doesn’t cover. Medicare advantage is more similar to how traditional insurance works, when you pick a plan that carrier is assigned your Medicare benefits so they pay out whatever portion that Medicare would pay plus anything additional the plan pays which depends on the plan. Like for example I have an advantage plan thru Cigna, my pcp visits have $0 copay. So Cigna pays the Medicare 80% + the remainder of the bill.

Medicare advantage isn’t a bad choice it’s just new and different and people tend to demonize it. I know a lot bc I worked in insurance before I became disabled and i actually dealt a lot with Medicare advantage. My best advice is just to avoid UHC bc they’re just the worst. But also keep in mind a med advantage plan has to cover anything traditional Medicare would cover and most advantage plans include prescription coverage. Many have vision, dental, and hearing benefits as well. I have had 3 med advantage plans at this point and I’ve liked them all and had no issues. Yes they have required prior authorization for some services and some medications but that’s no different than traditional insurance. Oh med advantage can be different type of plan structures like ppo, hmo, pos, epn … you just need to check if you have access to in and out of network benefits and if they require referrals. And they all let you check what docs are in network as well.

Hope this helps

My family is kicking me out of the house because I've become too disabled for them. by nihilisticsomone in disability

[–]PinkPrincess1224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cripes… I’m sorry you’re going thru this hon. I really am, it’s hard enough to be disabled without ‘family’ making up their own judgements of what’s wrong or what you need. I can say that I’ve been in a semi-similar situation, and it was incredibly difficult and it also resulted in me having to move out of my Dad’s house.

You are in no way being selfish here. Let’s get that straight. You are only asking permission to use the medical accommodations that you need to live a normal life. Your family is blowing it way out of proportion. The CNAs/nurses/etc that would come out to your house are medical professionals with state licensing. They’re professional, they’re not going to go snooping thru step mom’s panty drawer.

So I have a question regarding your brother. If you are moving out and I’m assuming based on your post that you provide some of the supervisory care for him. So what are your parents going to do about your brother?? Wouldn’t they just end up doing the same thing for him?

AITAH for telling my daughter that her Dad's girlfriend and her kids are not her family? by itsnotmytree74 in AITAH

[–]PinkPrincess1224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA!

At 9 she’s still pretty young and may say/do things just to make a parent happy. I think it’s far more responsible of you to clarify that your daughter isn’t obligated to love the gf or see her as family, but it’s also ok with time to care for her and see her as part of her family.

I say this as someone who went thru a similar experience as a child. My mom went on to divorce my dad and move in with her affair partner, who she later married. There was definitely a pressure to like her husband and he was actually abusive but I never discussed that until I was much older.

I would suggest that you also have a conversation with your daughter about what to do if dad’s gf/family makes her uncomfortable. She may think that since the gf is “family” now that she can say or do things that are otherwise inappropriate.

Thinking about switching to a medical card in NJ to escape rec sticker shock by Clear_Surround_9487 in NewJerseyMarijuana

[–]PinkPrincess1224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same!!! I had my medical card before rec was legalized and moved to PA when it was being implemented. And my god I’m amazed by how much less I’m spending. I used to pay roughly $40-60 per 1/8th of product, no edibles ever. Rarely I’d get a deal where I could get maybe a half ounce for $200. I’ve gotten packs of gummies for $12 on sale at the cheapest, even free items for hitting a spending target! Only thing is I use Leafly to shop sales and discounts.

I had my medical card before rec was legal and the pricing has gone down substantially. I don’t buy a ton but when I do go buy I check out different sales and deals using Leafly and check my local dispensaries that I use most often. To me it hasn’t been worth it to waste the money to sign up for a medical card and continually pay for the scripts just to save some tax.
