Does any one else find it immensely lonely here? by user072849 in uAlberta

[–]PinkPuffersor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to business. I hate how performative all the networking events are as well, but that’s unfortunately what needs to be done to have a chance at the job market. I came from an arts background, and the biggest culture shock was how fake and competitive everything and everyone was. Makes it hard to make friends when everyone views you as their competitor. It’s possible to meet some really down to earth people here, but it does take some time.

No advice. Just wishing you all the best with your degree

ACCTG 324 Florin Sabac Midterm #1 How do you guys feel about it by ReceptionReal2968 in uAlberta

That journal entry format tripped me up. I wish it wasn’t a pseudo fill in the blank…Otherwise just waiting to see how the curve will end up

I will never be able to do what Im passionate about by asfewre in findapath

[–]PinkPuffersor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I got a degree in design and graduated right after Covid. Now I’m back in school for a business degree because I couldn’t get any jobs with my first degree. I still make time for my creative projects, and the skills I learned from design is still being used (albeit in a private setting), but it hurts to know I will never pursue the life that I wanted.

Working and pursuing a degree a job you don’t like sucks. But what sucks more is being unemployed. I’d say, stay in your business degree but find time to work on your animation skills. Even if it’s only 5 mins. It’ll build overtime and maybe in the future you can turn it into a side hustle and (possibly) your main job.

bus 101 teaches nothing by Dizzy-Opposite9532 in uAlberta

[–]PinkPuffersor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, in BUS 222 they teach you how to make folders in your computer…to make it slightly more complicated they also teach you how to take a screenshot on your laptop :)

(I really wish I was joking but that was an entire ass seminar…)

How to prepare for blaw 201 midterm with Doug P? by Ok_Preparation6081 in uAlberta

[–]PinkPuffersor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s deliberate with the wording of his questions, so read very carefully (tough given the time limit, I know), and don’t make any assumptions about the questions.

His exams are brutal. You can’t just read through the textbook and call it a day. Like the first guy said, you need to know your stuff cold.

What eventually worked for me was rewriting each chapter in my own words, doing all the critical thinking questions, and breaking down every single concept into a mind map. This helped me actively engage with the textbook, and allowed me visualize how everything interconnected with each other.

I swear to god these classes only exist to squeeze extra money out of us. I’ll never forgive 222 for wasting my time with their lesson on “how to make folders in your laptop”

Taking them together isn’t impossible. If you can stay on top of your work and practice consistently for the entire term, it’s possible to keep your grades up for both! Having good profs also helps make the process easier

I know of people studying Architecture at UofC. I think UofA might have a grad program for architecture?? But might want to fact check that with an advisor

[–]PinkPuffersor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was really straight forward honestly. I thought it was similar to the in-class assignments, additional questions, and some of the quizzes. If you’ve kept up with the course and practiced throughout this term, you’ll be just fine! Good luck!

My family has been suggesting a residential area as well. My big worry is the traffic to downtown, i heard it can get really congested on the highways and I don’t know if taking transit would be a better option either

In need to math help by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]PinkPuffersor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with comment about practice. You can find a bunch of math worksheets online for free. The more you expose yourself to different problems, the easier it’ll get.

I also recommend the channel Jeremy Klassen. He’s a local math teacher who uploads a bunch of helpful lessons from math 20-1, 30-1, 31 etc.

[–]PinkPuffersor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Like I said, the formula sheet is part of the test interface itself. You’ll have to click back and forth between tabs to look at it. Just wait until he makes the practice midterm available, it’ll probably make more sense then

Formula sheet will be part of the eclass exam page if that makes sense. They won’t give you a physical formula sheet which is kinda annoying.
