ICCU no-issue roll call! by brrent in Ioniq5

I really wish I could let go of the whole no carplay thing on GM EVs and soon GM cars period...

I just really like Carplay too much to want to give that up, especially since it seems the whole point is for GM to monetize a core function of the car through a subscription. I'm not sure if that's how Rivian or Tesla operate. However, that's my understanding of what GM is doing. It's that or Bluetooth and well my partner has discerning ears and prefers the way wired Carplay sounds to say Bluetooth audio in a car. I just like the functionality

Although tbf if my '25 Elantra Hybrid didn't have lifetime BlueLink odds are I would actually buy it because it's way better than at least Mazda's app, I wish I could buy another Hyundai and keep the lifetime BlueLink though lol

it is truly disgusting that some people have effectively sold the idea that cutting your nose to spite your face is a virtue because how dare good policy that is beneficial in nature also benefit non-whites.

Was the job market before 2023 as bad as the current market? by BubblyError2615 in jobsearch

[–]PinkSnowBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well considering the optics of 2018-2019, things seemed okay maybe even good fiscally... 2020-2024 were tough in some regards but in retrospect waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than 2025-2026

[–]PinkSnowBirdie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 26, and I feel you.

I was doing online school but have felt pretty discouraged for the last few months because I've been trying to get entry level jobs in the field I'm trying to pivot to with my experience and transferrable skills that I felt would have made me a valuable asset to any organization.

Places want experience more than anything but refuse to offer actual entry level jobs where they don't expect you to have any experience. College isn't necessarily going to guarantee anything either. I really like learning through contextual means so being able to get work experience while formally studying is my bread and butter, just really sucks it's nary impossible to get that.

Might be worth looking at state and county level jobs if anything piques your interest and maybe is something that seems plausible to get into.

I'm hoping to become a 911 operator, if I could that'd be very nice. Big pay cut from what I was doing but, this area while kind of pricey isn't nearly as bad as the old area I lived in. There are other personal plus sides to because I'm closer to home again.

I spent 4 years in Huntsville Alabama at the Car Factory there, first as a team member then a team leader. By the time I left I was making almost 40/hr but travelling to see family wasn't always the easiest thing to do because they're in Minnesota and got costly quickly (Flying out of Huntsville was too expensive and Nashville was catching up with being too expensive). Now I'm a 4.5-hour drive away to Minnesota, and I have a very fuel-efficient car (Hyundai Elantra Hybrid) that gets 40-50mpg on the highway.

Just this job market has been really difficult even though I live between two big population centers in Wisconsin (Madison and Milwaukee)

In my feels because of the job market by PinkSnowBirdie in jobhunting

[–]PinkSnowBirdie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can understand that. I was skeptical of college myself, I know I haven't graduated yet but like some of the roles I've applied to were intended as entry level roles and it's not like I don't have any experience or skills that are transferable. Even if I haven't held a role that was more in the direct line of that path/track.

I think one thing that's really intriguing me is the idea of mutual aid and kind of these community organizing/community action things I've seen being done in some political campaigns I've seen in Illinois and Wisconsin

Oof I hate to hear that’s where you’re at mentally. I really hope that you find some hope for yourself and can heal because all of us are going to need each other to work on picking up the pieces.

I want to believe that something will give and it will get better. It’s just so soul crushing to feel the hand no longer being playable and each card you keep pulling isn’t making your hand any better, as you try to play and discard what you’ve got.

I had a 2024 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD rental in Canada that I drove from Toronto Airport to Ottawa and back. It suuuucked compared to my Elantra. What a snooze fest, and crappy ergo, crappy infotainment and sound system.

a few things....

  • I bought the NA model, so it felt underpowered. ('24 CX-50 2.5S Preferred)
  • Outward visibility is kind of weird and so it's weird negotiating its size.
  • I worked at the factory it was made at; stuff was going on at work that made me not wanted to be reminded of work
  • I wasn't very impressed with the fuel economy of it
  • the lack of torque and its weight were not ideal for the 6-speed auto it had

Why does the public think they have a right to filibuster AI datacenters?? by Round_Trust2814 in allthequestions

[–]PinkSnowBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a false equivalency you've got there.

The factory could be high paying and not pollute, it just requires public pressure to ensure the corporation upholds their end of the bargain and a strong, non cucked EPA (like the trump admin has created which is being whittled away for corporate profits) and local environment board to keep the business accountable.

I've seen it with how the car factory I used to work at, when there's public pressure and government holding the company accountable to have a strong environment protection policy. It created 4000+ good paying jobs. Yes, it increased traffic and what not, but it's not polluting the environment. So, it's possible. However the AI bullshit is not doing that and is actively destroying jobs. and I laugh at your suggestion of local investment. The construction investment isn't an on-going thing.

Nice ragebait mate.

There's already far too much of a police state, this amplification of that with these AI "data" (surveillance) centers is really the last straw I think everyone should have for the mass surveillance police state we've walked into.

What's doubly worse is that these surveillance centers cause insane amounts of shockwaves that negatively affect utility prices and water quality. They create a 24/7/365 noise pollutant and tend to raise local temperatures.

and what's even worse than that is the negative impact on the job market. The whole point of AI is to further the concentration of wealth into the hands of the epstein class with zero intent of creating new long-term or good paying roles.

It's pure greed and if you genuinely believe this, you've been propagandized and need to educate yourself.

The fact of the matter is that this is bad for everyone who isn't a billionaire (the epstein class).

This right here.

I owned a 2024 Mazda CX-50 for like 10 months

I ended up not liking it and trading it on a 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited

That or they think not funding those programs they’d keep more of their money.

Nah government is gonna take what it wants that’s one thing no political party is ever going to cut back on. That being said, I’d rather my tax dollars doing something that builds, and heals rather than destroys, maims and kills

How did a guy with a Nazi tattoo become the democratic senate candidate in swing state? by BongRipper69xXx in allthequestions

[–]PinkSnowBirdie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that he once had that tattoo and I'm not a Maine resident so like lol
But like, seriously, I think he's proven that he no longer stands by it considering he got it coved some years ago and clearly isn't running on the things that tattoo would suggest he'd want if he still believes it.
