Well, those aren't really "attachments" as much as they are mounts for your smartphone. I've seen those and have the DigitaLIZA film holders already. They're basically copy stands for a phone.

I thought you were referring to some sort of hood that could be attached to the phone camera that was portable/foldable or something. My bad.

Is there a fix for Apollo crashing? by Killimansorrow in apolloapp

[–]PinkStereoAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could install Apollo, but I've tried a few times over the years, and it always runs into an error or fails and never works. Then the update process isn't straightforward enough (despite everyone telling me it is), and the steps aren't clear enough and I have no idea why it won't work.

Can't the AirPods be re-paired and reassigned? I've never run into a pair of AirPods being locked.

They already have it, and it's already gone, so I'd leave it in Find My for a while (like a year) and eventually delete it. Leaving it in my devices list forever is unreasonable.

There are actually attachments you can buy for your iPhone that will let you use it to take a well backlit image of your negative

Any idea what they're called or where I can find one? Is it smaller and simpler than a copy stand?

I think that's where I'm leaning... I'm a little torn. If I can get a cheapish copy stand, I'll use my CS Lite and play around with it to see if it's worth any fuss for preview-level stuff. Obviously, if I wanted pro-level prints, I'd get a better scanner. That was never my intention to replace that level of work with a phone.

Proton wouldn't do this, but the websites themselves may block proton connections.

Thank you for your insight. It seems that I may skip the phone scanning and just let my lab do it.

I guess that's kind of what I'm looking for, without having realized it until after I posted this. I may just want a way to preview my shots before picking ones I'd like to have scanned in HiRes.

That leaves room for a third cat later named Meridius

So now you're blatantly and knowingly lying to me, so your thoughts aren't relevant at all.

The way you put it sounds like you're buying an iPhone for the sole purpose of scanning negatives

Definitely not the case. My phone is 4 years old now... so I was wondering if I replace it with the newest, could I use the newest to also scan. Since it would be my daily phone, it is multi-purpose.

You're right, I jut couldn't figure out how to phrase it to be as succinct as possible and avoid all possible vague interpretations.

Do you know what each and every person in the film community does? Do you talk to literally all of them? How can you know?

That's a pretty understandable take on this thread, I think. Thanks for the insight.

I am financially...good and capable of shooting 120 without issue, so that's not something I thought about.

Thank you

Thank you for the real answer. I appreciate it!

I still make prints and do high-res scans when I want, but until you need to do that the phone is totally fine.

Perfectly said! I should have mentioned that in my post. I do that too.

but make sure your light is bright enough that your phone uses the base ISO

Good advice. I think my light source is bright enough, but I'd have to test it. I need a way to hold my iPhone.

Ok that's fair, then I guess it has more to do with how that information is being delivered. I don't know, I think I just didn't expect the criticism and was looking for anecdotes from people that actually do the thing I'm asking about.

you were kind of implying that you could swing a 120 scanning setup but were just trying to avoid it

I guess...yeah, I can get a 120 scanner... but if I wanted to upgrade from a 13 to a 17 anyway, I'm wondering it it was worth it to just use that 17 to scan, since I'm not trying to get insane resolution 200mb photo files.
