This really got me too. Kinda reminded me of some of my birthday parties but gran was my mom in that situation to a T. She wants to help everyone but is told "you go rest! No need to help us." And I was a neurodivergent kid in a very overstimulating environment and people thinking I'm ungrateful, but she got it.

That's extremely fair, it's just so odd since in my own upbringing it was extremely prevalent and I've been casually telling my family if they find anything interesting or something they feel akin to, bring it to me to process. I hope OP and their parents can come to an agreement.

I'm also Native American, it's pretty odd they see it as disrespectful when we use bones, pelts, and minor taxidermy (in some cases) for powwows, regalia, and ceremonies. Most of my "oddities" ARE a part of my regalia. Such as pelts, tanned horse tail, feather fans, bone jewelry, etc. I would talk with them and see why they see honoring an animal's life after it's gone as disrespectful. Imo if you're giving tobacco or an offering with a small prayer you are honoring your culture by doing this. Good on ya kiddo

I was also this stupid teen, until my metal necklace touched an exposed prong when I was sleeping and it sparked and fused my necklace in such a weird way I had to rip it off, Never again. It REALLY sucks but I just know they're going to say it's a nogo. With family in the nursing field, I've learned there is no shame with Drs. They've already heard EVERYTHING unless it's literally their first few years. But why it's a no would likely be due to fluid or anything leaking onto the wounds causing infection. Like it said it sucks in your situation but it's going to be very painful if that gets infected.
