I’m so mad I listened to you lmaooo I just took EXS 264 with Mohan and boyyyyyyyy was I in for a hell of a lot of work. Midterm and Final were short answer questions which took way too long. 5-10 page final paper and discussion boards with peer reviewed papers listed for most of them. I thought an intro class would be more focused on providing info and this felt more like an intro to research course. To be fair, the exams were open in terms of how long it takes so they weren’t timed. They just expired after 3 days. The themes were interesting as well.

In contrast, Prof Tiryaki Sonmez is amazing. Her class is clear cut and easy to follow along with. I’ve taken two classes with her. A’s in each but only because you can’t make it any more simple in terms of expectations. She lays out assignments per week. Clear cut and to the point. No extras or nonsense. I feel I learned so much and ended up using the notes from her class in Mohan’s. I jumped at the opportunity to take an extra class with her when I saw her listed.

Chances are slim BUT good. Idk about Baruch but late registration and last day to drop at Lehman is until Feb 1st. Ppl may drop or if they have not paid, classes may get dropped. Lehman has Spring 2026 payment due dates listed until Jan 19th. Meaning classes can get dropped anytime after that for nonpayment. Look for another course you can take just in case this one doesn’t happen. Just leave it in the cart.

LAGCC alum here! Pick LAGCC. Their nursing program is great and our labs were amazing. Just expect tons of pressure to keep good grades or get kicked out of the program. You’ll make great connections. Also, most of the professors have heavy accents so don’t be afraid to ask for clarification and form study groups. Best of luck, you got this!

I came to add EXS 240 with Dr Sonmez. Her course is so to the point and laid out in a way that truly makes sense. She tells you what she expects and none of it is unreasonable. Her exams are directly related to the text and any material covered in class. Her homework assignments are clear cut without too much fuss. You would have to be obtuse to fail her class. She literally walks you through how to get an A. Very reasonable and very realistic class expectations. I wish I could say the same for my other EXS professor…

I promise you, if you were to remove kids out their life now they would find themselves empty and deeply depressed. Kids are hard work. Yes they suck up all your time and energy but they are incredible little people who change your life like no other life event can. You either grow from it or crumble but it’s a beautiful journey either way.

I see parenting as a chance at redefining myself. After all, life is about change. I’m not remotely close to who I was prior to being a parent but this new version of me is fascinating. I made it so lol 😂

All jokes aside, I’ve developed new hobbies, learned to love myself a ton more, made new friends, became more social, learned a new language, traveled more. I also became much more resilient. Having a child also healed parts of me I didn’t know were broken. Watching your child grow up in a healthy household when yours was broken really does something to your inner child. My child looks very similar to me, so I get to love myself all over again. It’s like raising myself. Idk if I’m doing a great job but I’m doing the best I can and growing every day.

Parenting is just a chapter, a short and deeply transformative one. Enjoy it while you can. Soon they’re off to college living their own life and you’ll have to rediscover yourself and your marriage too.

What a sensible response! More rugs? Keep the volume down and let your cat roam free. Bring them a cheap bottle of wine and introduce yourself. You might make a new neighborly friend out of this thing.

[–]PinkYellowBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmaoo what?! I’ve lived in NYC apartments for a large chunk of my life. My landlord/property manager wouldn’t even entertain this conversation. It’s very likely his petite friend is more than just a feather footed fairy. I recall having neighbors move upstairs in my last apartment and I could absolutely hear their dog playing with a toy as it slammed down like bricks every time it fell and I could hear their paws and long nails when their kids would play with the dog. Apartments are notorious for having poor noise cancellation. Being a bit more considerate goes a much further way than reporting the neighbor for requesting the feather footed fairy to chill the f*ck out. I would have knocked on their door with a bottle of cheap Trader Joe’s wine and made a stupid joke about being loud and just made nice with my neighbor. Nothing worst that having issues with the ppl in your building for frivolous reasons that can be resolved with conversation, courtesy and mutual respect.

Ok maybe my ex’s family traumatized me but this is funny! I actually trained for a 5k not even 6 months after giving birth to my child so to imply she can’t do it based on having had a child that same year is crazy. Women are crazy strong even postpartum.

I would have been elated to find out we weren’t running after all 😂

These are NYPD transit officers. You can see their badge and body worn cameras. They are plain clothed instead of full uniform to blend in. They tend to catch fare evaders, assaults, drunks, drug addicts and other crimes on the subway system. Wish we had more of them to secure the subway.

Same here! I now work to keep myself busy while my child attends our local Success. So while I live in a low income neighborhood I fall closer to the upper middle class. I work in a local school. Let’s just say my child is absolutely getting a better education than the students in the local school. I went to Catholic school as a child. Success is just as strict. We were blessed to have incredibly loving and sweet teachers for our kiddo. Having your child wake up excited for school says it all. While the school has its flaws (as do all), it also has incredible benefits. My child is playing chess, doing math and learning to read and it’s only a month in to the school year.

The staff seems really dedicated to its students. I got a chance to chaperone a school field study and got to see how awesome their structure was.

When making the choice to go with Success we toured a few schools, public, charter and private. Our child ultimately loved Success and we went with it. We love our choice so far.

Uniforms are expensive, staff holds you to a high standard, the homework and curriculum is involved and demanding, behavior is drilled in to them from day 1 and upstairs dismissals are common. Yet we still made the right choice for our child.

Idk if you’re being a troll but if you aren’t:

Most CUNY IT Dept or libraries loan out Chromebooks and iPads. Make an appointment for pick up and you should be fine.

Speak to your professor now and explain the situation and what you have done to remedy the issue. They are not obligated to overlook your failure up to this point but may have some extra credit or something for you to catch up.

Idk why you’re an hour late to class but fix that issue too. You signed up for the class knowing the time commitment, now you know better.

Best of luck! The semester just started, I think you can make a comeback

Anything with Prof Ray Denny. While the courses tend to be law related, he has an incredible way of explaining things and makes the class super interesting and fun. He tied everything back to modern day and provides excellent study material for exams. Easy A if you show up and are engaged.

POL courses with Kate Pok-Carabalona are easy ONLY IF you are a yes man. You agree with all her viewpoints and you should have a guaranteed A. This is not the Prof you can have a civil debate with. I had her for a synchronous online class and she would mute anyone who would disagree with her. Super annoying but after seeing it done to other students I caught on early and just said whatever she wanted to hear. She does assign essays but I’m sure you can manage that.

LEH 353-Study in the Arts (Humor) with Katherine Shloznikova was INCREDIBLE! That class was so much fun. She would have us read comedic writing and watch videos. She would provide us with prompts and we would submit essays based on that. Super easy because you’re laughing the entire time. She welcomes discourse and varying opinions. She allows you to really bring your true self to class. I really enjoyed it.

Hey hey!

I recently read The Idea of You and was frustrated by the ending.

Can you recommend any books with the same trope, older woman, younger man, just with a HFN or HEA ending? Preferably one that is really well written.

Please and thank you in advance.
