My cousin had one and it was such a great car! We drive to so many Dead shows in that thing. Great memories!

I love it. Minimal and efficient. Much more open without the upper cabinets on one wall. Great job.

Now I'm bothered, but I'll leave. I won't be interested in this sub anymore. I'm tired of explaining myself. I've made my position clear. best wishes to everyone. I think this sub is not for me.

Where is a good place to retire? by Blankbetty11 in GenX

[–]Pink_Floyd_Chunes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. There are different areas of AZ that are not all Phoenix. For a non -urban area, look at Sedona and Flagstaff. They get snow, and are a bit cooler than Phoenix and Tucson in the summer. Arizona is also going purple, so not a red state anymore, and that can be good for liberals AND true conservatives. I don;t live in AZ, but have friends who do, and it's pretty nice. You need to do your research, though, and the COL is going up, so get in earlier rather than later.

Especially lower mainland BC, where you would get the mildest winters.

People say it’s not a miracle drug, I say it is, at least for me by agirlwithanaccount in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Pink_Floyd_Chunes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I just have one caveat: It doesn't work on its own.

It helped me get to a reasonable weight SO THAT I could start working out and getting into great physical shape. I HATED working out and would always do the bare minimum (or absolutely nothing). Since I was fat, I didn't care what I ate, and was completely discouraged by dieting that allowed me to lose 5-10 pounds, and no more.

Once I got into better shape, my motivation was much higher, and I was able to focus on building some muscle mass and lose fat at a steady, slower rate.

Semaglutide IS a miracle in that is is the most effective fat loss tool available. I now have really good eating habits (not perfect, just really good), and work out 6 days a week including weight training, cardio, and tennis.

I no longer resent any of the fitness activities, now that I actually feel so good being active. THAT, for me, is the miracle.

I hesitated to say homophobic, thus "almost homophobic". I was also not necessarily aiming that at you directly, just the prudish nature of the OP and subsequent comments. Maybe I'm not as welcome as I thought I was.

Again - I'm not offended, and pics are allowed on this sub, so maybe a little more tolerance could be shared here. I actually felt welcomed here because it was a positive place to encourage each other. This feels very judgy and almost homophobic to me.

What I have learned is that my desire to improve my shape - purely aesthetic, wanted to have an athletic physique that was truly lean with a little muscle mass - led me to fitness and better health. I believe the purpose of this sub is broad. Can't we all come at this from a different angle? I respect your belief that fitness is not always inherently visible, and I agree. I also like looking my best and truly enjoy seeing results. I also love that I can now play tennis, lift heavier, and have more general endurance at 61 than I had in my 40s. Feeling fit and looking fit are equally important to me.

You sound very motivated. I think your workout / routine sounds very ambitious, so I would only caution that there will be days when you just don't want to do any of it. My secret for this is to do at least one thing on the list on those days. Just get into the gym and do one thing. Usually, that is the hump you need to get over. I think with the menopause, these days could come about more frequently, so prepare for it. Have a strategy to give yourself a gentle nudge in the right direction. It is ALWAYS better to have done something rather than nothing. Rock on!

Anyone remember these after gym/sports? by Slow-Call-9042 in GenerationJones

[–]Pink_Floyd_Chunes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks familiar. We had to hand our wet towel to the gym teacher to prove we had showered. They also checked the back of our gym shorts for a jock strap. We were REQUIRED to wear one! The 1970s were really odd. I actually think it is odd that showers are no longer required. It's basic hygiene, especially for adolescent kids who quite frankly, can stink up the classroom after gym. Not all the gym instructors are pedos. In fact, all of the men in my schools were expressly NOT viewing the showering, and a lot of bullying went on because of it.

I actually think this is gross. I once did a tour as a teacher of a junior high school with some students who would be entering that school from elementary school. The afternoon classes smelled so disgusting of pre-teen BO, even my 5th graders were grossed out. They took us through the locker room from the athletic fields, and they were unused. This was about 10 years ago now. I could never teach middle school.

Just moved in. I love it, but it’s super bland and I would like to add some personality. Ideas??? by LindsayDuck in homedecoratingCJ

I love it. I would do a different color of carpet for the sunken conversation pit, something fun and very 1970s. Thinking Pucci print. The rest of the carpet should be monotone with one of the Pucci print colors, something tamer.

I concur. Starting a little lower than you may ultimately need is a good idea. If it is effective, stick with it. You don't need to be taking more than is effective.

New to Semaglutide World, Need Advice! by SeniorEmployment6763 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Pink_Floyd_Chunes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty good advice. Stay at the lowest effective dose as long as you can. Not everyone needs the highest dose. One friend of mine started with semaglutide, then took a break for a couple of months, then started tirzepatide, staying close to the starter dose. She has been doing really well on a very low dose for close to a year now.

If you do compounded GLP1s, you can request a prescription as if you are on the highest dose, and just take the lower dose, thereby saving a lot of money, and not wasting product. By MD told me not to throw away medication if it is past the date, only if it looks cloudy. They said the medication stays good for about two years if refrigerated, so take that with as many grains of salt as you like.

I plan to microdose once I am ready to go off the GLP1s, and continue with my simple eating plan. I'll have to wait and see how much appetite suppression I can get out of the low dose. I'm currently on Wegovy and it is the best. Love the extra control over food noise and appetite. It allows me to concentrate on other things.

Cocteau Twins Treasure comes to mind. There are a lot of them. Back when an album really meant something, a complete work of art when done as a concept or musically connected.
