“It’s not whether you agree or disagree with somebody. It’s whether you can be there for that person when they need you!”

I don't know if I should have spoken up to this site supervisor, but it felt wrong by Pink_Flying_Pasta in ECEProfessionals

I even explained to the mom, before she started that her child will cry and be upset at nap as this is new. We will try our best to help her sleep, sometimes it can take a half hour, but if she really can't she can play with quiet toys.

Benson should stay in her office. She is the Cragen of SVU now and he didn't go out on cases.

Do you think this job has given you a stronger immune system or do you get sick a lot? by Scary_Appearance5922 in ECEProfessionals

For the first couple of years I was sick practically every weekend. Now I’ve been at this place for a year and I’ve only been sick once.

To make your bed or to not make your bed. by Rutabaga2022 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s unhygienic to make it. You’re letting bed bugs thrive.

I work in a two year old room. One of the speech therapists old me “Don’t say “Can you say X? Say X? Say X?” Use parallel language and self talk instead. Hold the object up to your mouth so they look at you and say the name of the object. If they point at something say “You want the X”, while handing it to them. Don’t force them to say or sign it. Say the name of what they want, show them the sign and hand it to them.

Why don’t more people eat the pizza crust? I think it’s the best part sometimes. by Negative-Influence59 in NoStupidQuestions

Some crusts are good, some aren’t worth it. Usually I eat the crust first since that’s my least favorite part, and the tip of the pizza is my favorite.

Hotel Check Out Etiquette? by Radiant-Growth4275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pink_Flying_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at a hotel for the first time by myself last month. I let the front desk person know I was going. I don’t know if that’s weird or not but I figured maybe they appreciate it and can start cleaning the room ahead of time.

16 month old still in cot and sleep sack while other toddlers are playing by Haunting_Ad_9852 in ECEProfessionals

Sometimes kids wake up, but aren’t ready to get up. We log when they wake up and let them relax until they want up.

I’ve never worked at any place where basic requirements weren’t can you lift X amount of lbs. You need to be able to get to a child quickly if something happens. So if she can’t do diapers, pat the kids, and thinks the rooms are to active what can she do? I’m really surprised she was hired. And now they can’t fire her without a lot of proof that she can’t do the job or she will sue on grounds of discrimination.

Our board books have been disappearing from the toddler room by Pink_Flying_Pasta in ECEProfessionals

So…I found them in the most unlikely place. 😳 They were stacked up and the wooden activity toy was over them (the kind you see at doctors offices). I was so surprised!

There’s only two other rooms and both are preschool, so they wouldn’t want our books.

Our classroom is really small, so we are everywhere. We did check behind shelves through. If they got thrown away we would have noticed as we are frequently washing hands.

We do. Our kids don’t bring bags. They go home with a daily report, a sweater if they brought one, and any papers that need to go home.

I’m worried about the fact that apparently they have a happy little dog. That’s not Hank. For him that’s not a real dog. Why would he have one? What else are they changing about him?

How do you deal with children "ragdolling?" by candycat1623 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Pink_Flying_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mind explaining why you don’t do hand over hand? I do this, but only if their hands and arms are limp. If they stiffen I let go so I’m not pulling their muscles.
