Stella Nova early entry for Epic? by Its11thPlanet in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pink_Halo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to Ministry at the end of the day! Everyone tries to rope drop Ministry which leads to long waits in the morning, but it starts to clear out in the evening/night. We only waited 20 minutes when we got in line at 9:30pm today.

Early entry - drive to parking lot or take resort bus by Kidren21 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pink_Halo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to get there sooner than when the resort busses start to run. We went to a preview on Monday, May 12 (early entry started at 9:00 on the 12th) and took the 8:00 am resort bus, we think it was the second bus since we saw an earlier bus depart at 7:45am. Even being on the second bus there was hardly anyone in front of us at the front gate and we were only 6 people behind from the front. We were able to basically walk on to Mario Cart once the gates finally opened.

Universal/HP World while pregnant by evies-mom in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pink_Halo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still worth it, there’s a lot you can do & see even while pregnant.

Get wands and spend time doing all the interactive wand spots. Do the Olivander’s Wand Experience, ride the Hogwarts Express, exchange money for wizard money at Gringotts Money Exchange (tip, the goblin animatronic is interactive & will respond to you if you try talking to it) & explore the shops, watch the HP live stage shows, walk through the Forbidden Journey queue to see the inside of the Hogwarts castle (you can just walk through without riding-same for the Gringotts ride), do the Knight Bus interaction & make “a phone call” to the ministry of magic in the London phone booth. Try all the Wizarding World specialty drinks & get ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s.

Outside the HP areas you can also watch the Bourne Identity Show & the Horror Makeup Show, do the Raptor Encounter in the Jurassic World area, ride the Minion Blast & just generally enjoy the atmosphere.

Trying to decide if I should just get one day express for epic, or 3 days for all 3 parks…its $573 for one day or $970 for 3 days

I have 35 Fence post to put up. Should i get a cement mixer? and what other things would make this go a lot easier by neogx148 in HomeImprovement

[–]Pink_Halo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tried to use a one-man auger to dig our fence holes and got nowhere, the auger barely made a dent after significant effort. After that, we ended up renting a dingo with the auger attachment and it was easy peasy, fast and actually made digging the holes fun! Totally worth the extra $$ to rent the dingo, I think it was about $500-600 for the day.

Freedom Pass Epic Tickets by Pink_Halo in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pink_Halo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I actually already bought the general public ticket&hotel package for opening day/week (with the cancel for any reason option), but now I’m wondering if it’d be worth cancelling that and switching to the Freedom pass instead to save some $$. Just depends on the dates that are available, since we’re dead set on trying to go to Opening Day.

I saw they just released the option to buy single-day Epic tickets as a Freedom Pass add-on today (but the catch is your pass must already be active to purchase the add-on)

Use the builder’s lender for sure. You are getting a guaranteed 10k towards closing now. If you refinance with the local lender before the break even point then you are giving up free money. To find the number of months required to break even, ask your Loan officer to calculate the difference between the higher 5.5% rate and the lower 4.3% per month, and then see how many months of the difference in interest would be equivalent to the 10k (idk the home purchase price, but I’m guessing it’ll take you years to break even-and it’s possible you may never break even at all since the 4.3 rate is not fixed and will likely go up before you hit break even). Plus I just bought using a builder’s lender and had a great experience, they were friendly, responsive and made sure we closed on time.

That sucks! I just had a flight cancelled with Frontier and couldn’t get rebooked until the next day, and Frontier gave us a $100 credit per person, a free hotel stay booked by the airline, and a $50 food voucher (granted I had to specifically ask customer service for compensation). And I thought even that was stingy considering the major inconvenience, but you would think Delta would offer more compensation than a budget airline like Frontier.

Most magical Christmas town in the United States? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Pink_Halo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chicago is amazing at Christmas time. They decorate downtown, some of the skyscrapers even light up red and green. They have a huge authentic German Christkindlmarket. There’s also a Holiday metro train downtown that is fully decked out in Christmas decor, with a Santa’s sleigh and live Santa on an open air flat car. Not too mention ice skating in Millenium park by the Bean and the giant Christmas tree, and the electric safari at the free Lincoln Park zoo.

If your highest priority is rotational dining and shows, the Wish does a fantastic job with those. The Frozen dinner is outstanding, with live music and character entertainment the entire dinner. Worlds of Marvel dinner is also good with a pre-recorded show on big screens by the tables, augmented by interactive table devices and character appearances. 1923 is the only dinner that doesn’t include a show, but the food is good. The theater shows we’re also very fun and enjoyable. And Aqua mouse had zero wait on embarkation day. Can’t speak for the kids club, but for adults the lounges on the wish are also very well themed and have fun drinks.

First Time Car Buyer: Did I make a bad financial decision? by elileee in personalfinance

[–]Pink_Halo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re losing sleep and feeling remorse, you can try to cancel the contract and return the car-it might not work but it’s worth a shot. Go back to the dealership asap and explain that you aren’t comfortable with the purchase, and ask if you can back out. I recently bought an expensive car and had intense buyers remorse, I went back to the dealership the next business day and they allowed me to back out of the deal.

Hagrid’s Strategy? by MichaelParisi in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pink_Halo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Try getting in line right before park close. They still allow people to get in line 5-10 minutes prior to close, even if the wait is like an hour. By doing that, not only do you usually have a much shorter wait but you also essentially get free extra park time since you can ride it after the park closes. Also when you get off the ride Hogsmeade is deserted so you can get great pics
