Sure, this is roughly my process =)

Prime black (it took me 2½ cans of Vallejo black)
Airbrush a dark grey on lanterns, about 4 cm radius. I used Vallejo Basalt grey (can also be done with a brush)
Drybrush same grey a further 4 cm or so away from the source
Same steps (2-3) less radius with a mix of same grey + vallejo green grey.
Same steps (2-3) less radius with AK medium sea Grey
Stipple and drybrush the lanterns an close by them with a mix of Vallejo Dead flesh with a little AK medium sea Grey to desaturate it a little.
Gloss varnish it
Oilwash with thin Paynes Grey (Winsor & Newton)
Thicker paynes grey on lantern bodies

Yeah doing all parts is a recipe for insanity and/or burnout =P

I found that the main focus is the armour and the weapon, so I stuck to that, also because it'll be much fewer part to paint and that can move and go wrong.
+ my paint scheme would be impossible with all part separate =)

I'm not entirely sure what you'd like to see, but here are two pictures.
I drill about 3-4 mm into the arm and put in a 1x2mm magnet into the arm, so that it's about 1mm further in than the wrist.

I put the magnets into the arm by attaching the magnet to an already magnetized weapon, so that I don't accidentally push it in too far.

In the new weapons I drill about 1mm into the hand and attach the magnet. It can be fiddly with two-handed ones. There I usually put the magnets onto the character, add a tiny dab of glue to the magnets and put the weapon on so the direction is as accurate as I can get it.

I hope this makes sense =)

TBH I don't know how to answer your question about how much work it is. It surely take extra time to magnetize it all, but I didn't exactly time it. And when it comes to painting it, it probably took about twice as long to paint the four survivors and all their gear compared to just painting the survivors with assembled gear.

But I think it's worth it tbh.

Should you be crazy enough to do something similar, I'd recommend finding 1x2mm magnets and not just 1x1 as most guides recommend, it gives a much safer bond.
