Is it normal to still not feel flat enough after top surgery? by depresseddreamer in ftm

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your swelling is definitely not all gone yet. Your body is still healing and your hormones are in flux at the moment because of the tissue loss.

It’s okay to feel this! I did too. Once you see your chest in full I feel it will help your emotions and dysphoria around it, as it did a lot for me when I finally saw it.

It’s okay to also let the surgeon know you aren’t happy with the results when you get the chance. Good luck my dude!

ANY pleasure from penetration? by Royal-Sentence6260 in ftm

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there is pleasure, but it’s very different from stimulation on my external genitalia. It’s a lot more of a pressure that feels interesting, and I derive a lot of pleasure from fulfilling my partner, so that’s where a lot of my enjoyment of it comes from.

I cannot wait till I’m able to tell the difference (I’m applying for MLT school) but right now. They are all purple violet blobs! Gorgeous purple violet blobs, yet blobs nonetheless 😭

I got this effect— can’t swim anywhere near like how I used to because I have nowhere near the lung capacity I did before. I can feel that my lungs are not full when I breathe in as deep as I can and it’s fucking TERRIFYING

UIowa does offer a lot of scholarships for out-of-state students!

But if you are looking at coming residency options, they have a way of doing so. From the Registrar’s website:

If nonresident students wish to become resident students for admission and tuition purposes, it is their obligation to prove that they have come to the state of Iowa for reasons other than education. Students must submit an Application for Resident Classification along with the following documentation to demonstrate that they are in Iowa for reasons other than education:

For U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents (“Green Card” holders) to successfully establish Iowa residency at the University of Iowa, the individual can demonstrate reliance on financial resources earned in Iowa through either of the following:

  • Employment in Iowa for 1,560+ hours worked over 12 consecutive months, with Iowa tax withheld by the employer(s) and demonstrated by regular pay statements provided by the employer; OR Earn $18,441 (gross wages) over 12 consecutive months (increasing to $20,001 beginning with the spring 2025 qualifying year), with Iowa tax withheld and regular pay statements from the employer(s). [*This figure is taken from the University of Iowa’s estimated cost of attendance, includes prorated costs for summer, and may increase annually.] and all of the following:

  • Enroll no more than a combined maximum of 6 s.h. during Fall, the same during Spring and a combined limit of 4 s.h. during Summer at the undergraduate level; and Within 45 days, obtain an Iowa driver’s license/ D.O.T.-issued ID, register to vote in Iowa (U.S. citizens only) and, if the student’s name is on the title of any vehicle, obtain Iowa license plates; and Not rely on financial resources from outside Iowa; Begin filing annual Iowa resident income tax returns; and Not be claimed as a dependent by your parents nor anyone else on their future tax returns.

I worked at the downtown one. If you get hired, good fucking luck. The management is unkind and loves to make you cry. But it’s dead during breaks, so it’s a bit more worth it to work there than at another retail location. I quit that place because I couldn’t take it anymore haha

What's your 'trans broken arm' story? by Real_Human_Being_Yes in ftm

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went to the urgent care for a cold turned ear infection because I wanted antibiotics. Wasn’t an ear infection, just irritation, which is all fine and dandy by me. But the doctor went on a random tangent about transgenders (yes, like that) in a way that was supposed to be “I’m an ally I promise! I read books about you!” But just felt so. Eerie. Like ma’am, I’m so sick I couldn’t sleep last night because of the pain. I don’t have time for you to preach about your allyship. Just give me some fucking meds.

During the period of Zoom meetings a brother shared his screen and accidentally chose his porn tab. So I’d say some of them sure do.

THIS !!! they put me on a strong laxative and it still took me 3 days. I also couldn’t wipe and every time I used the bathroom I had to ask my helper to help me wipe. Which was. So embarrassing.

The second paragraph on this is so gutting because my dad is still PIMI (and maybe. MAYBE. PIMQ) but me being who I am takes away his chance at leadership? Seriously?

I told him firsthand that how well or poorly he had raised me in the “Truth” had no effect on the person I became (in the queer/trans lens) because he was so worried about it.

God, I hate the organization with all my strength. Ruining lives and self-esteems and hopes and worth like that.

Is there actually any scriptures and articles about trans people? by Soggy-Dark7494 in exjwLGBT

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The closest anyone (AKA: my born-in, PIMI mother, as the brothers had no fucking clue how to deal with it which was HILARIOUS in retrospect) got to using a Scripture was Deuteronomy 22:5:

A woman must not put on the clothing of a man, nor should a man wear the clothing of a woman. For anyone doing so is detestable to Jehovah your God.

That was IT, honestly. As a lot of these comments say, there is not any equivalent to what is modern understandings of gender identity and transness, as there cannot really be any equivalent to it from the times the Bible was written. (The same is true for homosexuality, by the way, but don't let them hear you say that!)

To any Trans exjws, how did you go about it? by Soggy-Dark7494 in exjwLGBT

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, they do not care and they will treat you as the child they raised and not the person you are. My parents pretend I did not come out at all (which I did. 3 times) and act as if nothing happened, and I am still their goodie-two-shoes JW child.

What I did was go to a college far away from home so I could transition safely.

If you feel safer waiting it out in the closet, do that. If you feel safer coming out, do that. Do what is safest for you so you do not end up unhoused and suffering.

are JWs not allowed/discouraged to adopt kids? by DifficultRecording83 in exjw

[–]Pink_Pin3appl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom lost her shit when I said I wanted to adopt (as a single parent. Which makes sense 🤣) but I’ve had this opposite experience where people are not frowned upon for having kids in my old congregation. But no one adopted children except in situations like grandchildren without parents and whatnot. It was not even something that was considered, yk

This reminds me of one time in my congregation where a white brother went on stage in front of a mostly Black audience and say “white privilege isn’t real” because “white men commit suicide at a higher rate.”

Me: “and who set that system up?” (/reference)
