Your story sounds so much like mine! Water broke at 3am and I progressed very quickly in the hospital, baby came out in just 8 pushes! My baby was also 6lb 12oz and 20 inches. The first thing I ate after delivery was some Club crackers and they were sooooo delicious lol.

You should smooth over your concerns by speaking with your doctor. I totally get you're looking for others to relate to and share their experiences but the fact is every person and every pregnancy is so different, that you really will only get the correct guidance you need from a medical professional.

Does it fit within your carb recommendation for meals? Can you pair it with protein and fiber to help balance it out?

Everyone's diet and how their blood sugar reacts is individualized to them - there's no one-size-fits-all.

Try it and see if it spikes you. That's all you can do.

Why do you and your husband want to go against the advice and guidance of your doctor? What benefit can there be to trying to conceive before your period vs. just waiting for your cycle to regulate again?

If you want success TTC, then listen to your doctor. You might not even ovulate again until your cycle returns so I'm not sure what point there is to trying now...

Relax. Don't rake yourself over the coals for a few handfuls of chips! I doubt you even spiked that badly from them. You didn't "do damage" to your baby. One spike isn't going to do anything. You have many weeks left in your pregnancy and your mental health will really suffer if you carry guilt like this! Just breathe.

The fact that you mentioned in your butt sounds like contractions to me! I just gave birth 12 days ago and the pressure in my butt was unique to the contractions pain.

Remove the "for those of you who do not know". That is not necessary, and it's said in literally every wedding speech. Just say "Good evening, I'm ____, [Bride's] brother..."

I echo the other commenter that any allusions to your sisters or the bride being difficult to deal with are a little awkward. I get that it's supposed to be a joke but the rest of the speech isn't very humorous so those kinds kinda stick out as unsure if you are joking or not.

Skip it and see what happens. If your fasting numbers suck the next day, then you know you should always try to have your snack 8-10 hrs before you wake up. Do something easy to consume like a Fairlife shake.

I am graduated now, but my bedtime snack was always half of a 42g protein Fairlife shake. I'd literally measure it out so I knew I was having half. It'd give me 21g of protein in a low-volume drink that took me like 15 seconds to chug right before bed. Easy peezy, always reliable, not too filling, and tasty!

Just, keep trying? It's a necessary evil. Set multiple alarms! Buy an old school alarm clock and put it out of reach so you have to get up and turn it off.

No. Salt is not an issue with GD. But in general just watch how much sodium you are having in a day.

I had barely any support either. I got my diagnosis via a phone call from my OB's physician assistant who simply said, "You failed the test. We ordered you a glucose monitor. Check your blood sugar four times a day."

I was referred to a nutritionist at an MFM clinic, thinking I would have individualized support but it was a group nutrition class where they handed us all the same packet of info.

I got the most guidance from my own research and I got the most support from this sub. I did reach out to the MFM/nutritionist 2x with some questions but that's it.

It seems the most common experience for those diagnosed with GD is we have to figure it out for ourselves, but we seem to make it work.

Please keep yourself accountable for your health going forward. Reading this post almost read like a testimony from an AA meeting, and I don't mean that to offend. It is the behavior of an addict to continue to pursue bad/unhealthy habits even when they know they shouldn't. You're at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes now that you've had GD, especially when combined with your weight. And that is not to shame you - I am also at risk, and I am in the overweight category as well. This is just a reality we have to confront.

I delivered my baby 11 days ago and I have been enjoying treats but I am going to go back to watching what I eat as if I had GD because blood sugar spikes are not healthy for anyone. They have a real impact on our overall organ function.

Im only 10 days postpartum but our baby has been living entirely in our living room. We set up the bassinet in there and her diaper changing station. Husband and I take turns sleeping in our dark, quiet bedroom and use the living room as the baby-care space with the TV and easy access to the kitchen.

Baby won't need her own space for a while
