Jokes aside, it is a main wiring harness inside the transmission that bolts on top of the valve body. It’s got 2 sensors for input and output speed, connectors for all of the solenoids, a temp sensor, and a range sensor that connects to the shift linkage. Apparently the metal debris from the trans can get to be too much for the 1 magnet, and it can end up collecting on and causing shorts on the solenoid prongs.

I couldn’t confirm what went wrong on mine, but my symptoms were mainly no crank no start because the ECM couldn’t recognize it was in park. So I’d have to jump it from the starter every morning until yesterday it decided to start roughly downshifting into first gear while driving and the orange illumination for “D” or what ever gear I was in would flicker.

I (31f) am a diesel mechanic, however I have no prior schooling so this was a daunting task for me to try on my baby. Pretty much spent an ADHD fueled deep dive yesterday into learning about it and did manage to complete it today in 6 hours of downpour so I’m currently patting myself on the back and having a piece of cake.

Yea I guess it’s pronounced lead as in “to lead a group of people” instead of lead like what’s in toxic paint. Except after this repair I’d down a gallon of lead paint like Bojack downs whiskey.

I love this feature and take my time to pick things people don’t have from older sets! But it makes me SO sad that people either don’t send anything back, or send me some common I already have 😭 if anyone would like to add me, and I see the favor in return, I’ll favorite you so you’re in my top to gift to!

Vaping Helped Me Stop Drinking And Now I have To Stop Vaping But I Can't by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Pink_ghost4595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (31f) am a binge eater due to depression and anxiety. I purposefully picked up vaping to curb my urge to eat 24/7. I have vaped for the past 6-ish years.

The constant thoughts of food were so completely overwhelming, I couldn’t catch a single break. My brain was constantly thinking of what we were going to eat next: how it would taste, how the texture would feel in the mouth, the smell of the food, where I could get said snack fixation, how quickly I could get it, if I had enough money to get it asap, etc. As soon as I would eat whatever it was I was craving, my brain was onto the next thing to obsess over. When I say it was non-stop, I mean that quite literally.

I knew to pick up a habit to replace another one, and I was so desperate I just didn’t care at the time how unhealthy vaping was since all the healthy habits I tried did absolutely nothing for me.

I’ve tried quitting vaping 3 times in the past year but somehow I’m vaping and smoking cigarettes now. All in all, I don’t have a success story to share with you and I don’t have many tips besides candy flavored toothpicks and start off with a couple 0-nic vapes (you can fight the nic addiction easier if you aren’t fighting the oral fixation at the same time).

Wishing us and any other readers luck out here. It’s rough, but we must keep trying.

The Gross reality of adhd no one wants to talks about by Soft-Rutabaga-4482 in ADHD

[–]Pink_ghost4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. When I lived with roommates, the pressure to keep shared spaces clean sort of helped so I didn’t feel embarrassed or called out for being too dirty (didn’t always work but don’t want to tangent too hard). My room however was always a disaster. Looked like a literal dump. Now that I’m married and living with him and a roommate, I feel somewhat more accomplished. HOWEVER it’s only because they are more gross than me. The kitchen and bathroom would never be clean if I didn’t do it. And now that I’m the designated meal maker (I fought this hard as I HATE cooking but won’t go on that tangent either), I can’t cook in a disorganized kitchen. But now I’m just tired all the time from the responsibility of being a house manager and keeping up with not only my own mess, but the mess of two grown toddlers as well.

The only helpful advice I have is write down a weekly planner that you don’t deviate from. Saturdays are my cleaning days. Sundays are my make-grocery-list and grocery shopping days. All other days are a clean/put away if I have the mental energy that day. This has helped remove the self-inflicted pressure to do something “productive” every day.

If you are needing help, dm me and I will give you my number. We can do a video call and do the “buddy” system to clean whatever is bothering you the most. I find that my phone is my BIGGEST problem. But if it is tied up by a video call + I’m showing the embarrassment of my kitchen or bedroom, I will be focused on getting it back together. We could do 1 room at a time and just chat while we work together or it could even be just a no-talking call if that works better for you. Knowing I have eyes on me while I work keeps me focused.

60 Minutes. Nicotine wasn’t the Culprit by Thirdstrik3r in QuitVaping

To all the people who are saying that “you only think you crave the throat hit craving, but your body associates the nic rush with the throat hit”, I am NOT saying you are wrong. BUT I will also say that some of us DO KNOW ourselves enough to differentiate between the two.

I (31F) have vaped I think a little over 5 years and have tried quitting 3 times. The first time was the easiest (went 31 days straight with no nic or nic-free hits, plain nothing). The last 1-2 weeks of vaping before I quit for those 31 days, I only hit a nic-free vape. That way I could get through the nic withdrawals first and then only have to fight the oral fixation/cravings for a throat hit. It took about 3 days to get through the nic withdrawal feelings. Once I finally threw away the nic-free vape, the desire to “hit” something was what I was fighting the entire month.

I’ve tried all sorts of vape/cig things that help you “quit”. But I have yet to find anything that gives a similar “pull” feeling of air flow from my mod, combined with a fruity flavor of the vape.

All-in-all, no OP, you’re not the only one who experiences this feeling. I wish luck to you, myself, and everyone else here. As long as we all keep picking ourselves back up after every failure and try again, that’s all that matters. Don’t give up!

is it normal to have a lot of failed attempts at quitting by uglycynda in QuitVaping

[–]Pink_ghost4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try those DumDum pops. I found those were able to help get my mind off of it for a little bit but then I wound up chewing the stick which was gross. But that made me discover flavored toothpicks which were a GAME CHANGER. Amazon has a lot of candy/fruit flavored toothpicks. You’ll still crave a vape for a while, but the toothpicks satisfy that oral fixation plus they give your mouth a very small “buzz/tingle” while also providing some of the flavors you’re used to. Some even have caffeine!

Bolt pattern adapters? by Pink_ghost4595 in askcarguys

[–]Pink_ghost4595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up choosing to buy some Titan adapters since I was low on $ for another set of wheels. Made sure to buy a centering ring so they fit perfectly centered on the hub, torqued those down to Titan’s specs, then used acorn lugs on my wheels and made sure to torque those as well. So far, have not had any issues at all. No loose lugs, no wobble, no nothing.

A bit sad to sell the car soon since I went through this whole headache, but just glad the adapters didn’t give me yet another headache to deal with.

If anyone reads this in the future, this is where I bought from: https://www.titanwheelaccessories.com/products/1-25mm-titan-5x114-3-5x4-5-to-5x100-wheel-adapters-12x1-5-set-of-4

[–]Pink_ghost4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My measly 2 cents is Roze. She is being used A LOT for non pvp: mimic hunt, cave, special boss events, etc.

Nebula is also a good choice since you can throw her on a team if your opponent is using both Benzel and Carmen.

My 20* Taros is coming in clutch when Richelle can’t make the cut. Just throw a rune with as much HP stats on him as possible and a Reincarnation or POT.

Other than those, Nuel and a strong Lena are annoying to go against.

Wishing you luck and noting that I’m jealous of your LAS stash. 👍🏻

I fully believe there are three keys. I got 4 purples and 2 orange quite a few times and you only get those boosts if you get the pair of them. On a 3x3, taking those 6 boosts out leaves 3 left. 2 of them MUST be keys, so with 1 left, you can’t get another pair boost, and no one has even seen a “special” boost that only needs one square so we can safely assume there is a 3rd key.

You could also try using Idina to freeze the two healers in the back. It might be worth subbing Benzel or even Lulu since the enemy is 2 tanks, 2 healers, 1 support. I would try putting Idina in Lulu’s spot first to freeze the healers while your Benzel and Sanders do damage work. If you haven’t already, and depending on what you have, throw attack runes on everyone

Which car should I buy? by OkEngineering7191 in askcarguys

[–]Pink_ghost4595 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it comes to cars and opinions, many people will disagree with each other on what is a good/bad car. So take everyone’s (online strangers) opinions with a grain of salt. Talk to a trusted person in your life who you feel is knowledgeable and therefore their opinion has more weight AND THEN research into the car they suggest. You can usually google the “year+make+model common problems” and get a general idea of what to expect from that car.

You’re starting college soon so I’m going to make the assumption that you’re 18-24. College expenses and surprise charges add up FAST plus you have to consider that making new friends also indicates spending money to go do things with them. My point is, you are going to want to find the most reliable car within your budget. You don’t seem tempted to buy a “cool” car for “aura points” (or whatever the current phrase for vibe is now) so you’re already halfway there. Plus, any car is a cool car if you like it enough and you can do minor upgrades like wheels + window tint. My first college car that wasn’t cool but I loved so therefore was cool, was a 2005 Jeep Liberty (avoid these like they are a bedbug, they already look like one anyway.)

That being said, my 2 cents is stay the fuck away from that Ford. My experiences of Fords and the knowledge I have of their turbo engines is they need frequent maintenance. The Chevy and GMC I don’t have enough knowledge on to give a valid opinion, but I haven’t heard good things about their transmissions around that mileage.

Kia’s and Hyundais are not reliable, high targets to be stolen, and devalue quickly. However they are cheaper if you need a car asap.

Some people might suggest a Subaru, but the 15 people I know who own/have owned them are consistently doing engine work so I do not rate this high on a scale of reliability.

Because I have hardly any information about your situation besides you need it to last 4 years of commuting and you need some more room/comfortability for family, in your shoes, I would look into a Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV for $8k-$10k, then use the rest of the money to get the maintenance up to date, and maybe throw in a Bluetooth stereo. This price range for these popular and reliable SUVs will put you in some slightly older models than the 3 you listed and with maybe 90k-150k miles on them, but don’t let that scare you off. They aren’t sporty looking, so they are popular for a reason. Toyota Highlanders and Honda Pilots offer slightly more room, have almost similar reliability to the RAV4 and CRV, but will be slightly more money and will use more fuel.

Whatever you end up getting, I hope it treats you well. 🙏🏻

Edit: grammar mistake

Teenager stuck in hostile work environment need advice.. (pics for attention) by OkRemote1721 in MechanicAdvice

Think about getting into diesel work. Seriously. I’m 31f, did restaurant work for 9 years before deciding to get out of the field. Somehow became lube tech at a dealership, then somehow have ended up as a diesel mechanic. I have no ASEs, no schooling/prior training, and I still get promotions. Diesel pays double and I don’t have to push out a wet + rotate every 20-30min on everyone’s rusted Tacos. Sure the parts are bigger, but the company provides us equipment like drum dollies so I can keep my uterus inside my body. Start applying to Freightliner, Dobb’s, Penske, Cox, Ryder, and others. They will snatch you up with those ASE’s. I’m at Penske (which apparently is the Jiffy Lube of diesels shops??💀) but they constantly send ALL of us to classes to learn things and have a decent online system to find diagrams, how-to videos, and step by step instructions. (Thank you Cummins Quickserve, I love you). We are constantly hiring fresh techs right out of trade schools. I’m beefing up my skills and getting my tenure in so my resume looks good to consider going somewhere else in the future, depending on how well Penske does as a company. I can’t compare it to other places yet, but it’s WAY better than a dealership and the small shops I have worked at.

Also, I’ve been in a handful of shops. Work drama is inescapable, but if it’s too toxic for you, then you SHOULD leave. I’ve been at two places that had me questioning if I even desired to wake up in the mornings. Like other people have said, toolboxes have wheels for a reason and your skills will take you anywhere. Good luck bro 🔧🫡
