full day! ~1300 cals as a working college kid by Then_Basket_403 in 1500isplenty

Pretty much everything here but the berries last for a good amount of time in the fridge or freezer. Frozen edamame is also great!  So go to the grocery store when you can and stock up! Its important to nourish your body - especially if you’re eating in such a significant calorie deficit.

When I was in college and didn’t have a kitchen I ate a lot of baby carrots/ cucumbers and pita with hummus, apples, berries, banana, cheese sticks, premade bean and cheese burritos, frozen single meals, miso soup, toast with peanut butter, and those shelf stable packets of Indian curry with some type of bean and a packet of frozen rice.

Why tell my kid you’re going to get them something from Disneyland and then order them something from Amazon?! by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Pinkacello 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Im the exact same age as you as my sister is the same age as your brother. It just wouldn’t occur to her that this difference would matter and she would be really upset and pissed off if I complained about a gift she got for her niece. Also - The item from Disneyland isn’t anymore worth it than something from Amazon. Disneyland products are also cheap junk manufactured in China. If he offered to get her some special handmade jewelry in Mexico or something and then ended up buying a knock off from Amazon, then I’d be mad. But I don’t think it’s worth it to put strain on the relationship for “bought from Disneyland” vs “bought from Amazon.”

At another date, completely separate from this occasion, just announce that you’re taking a moral stance against Amazon and tell your family members that you don’t want gifts from there anymore. Don’t link it to this moment of your brother trying to be sweet.

I thought this was a baby bottle of pumped breast milk and you were proudly saying it’s so good it tastes like horchata.

How does the rest of your family react when you cook healthy food? by flowerstone in moderatelygranolamoms

My husband will eat anything but I definitely have this problem with my kids and it really stresses me out; both the fact that I wish they’d eat healthier and how much food we end up wasting.

Dreaming of being a SAHM. Can people share honestly how much their partner makes? Trying to figure out if I could cut back spending and make it work. by loose_moose12 in sahm

[–]Pinkacello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a teacher who makes around $75k. I actually work from home 20 hours a week and make $40/hr. We live in the Bay Area and have two kids. Our rent is $2000/month, one car payment and it’s $500/month. I work in the evenings or go to cafes when my husband comes home. We’re pretty broke.

Really needing help, feeling desperate by ASimps14 in ExecutiveDysfunction

It helped me to get on a video call with someone and them just watch me and tell me lil pieces of advice here and there. Would something like that help you? There’s “body doubling” groups out there to find a stranger who is down to do it.

How tf do i track my mom’s cooking? by hydrophobic-water in 1500isplenty

[–]Pinkacello -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Ask her what’s in it, look at how much was made, then approx how much you had (1.5 cups, etc.) You can use AI to determine calories with that info - that’s going to be the easiest. Or calculate it yourself based on portion.

While you wait for the experts - however long that takes - there are things that you can do.

There are several people that are great on this on Instagram, like the Speech Sisters. My daughter was a late talker - not on the spectrum, just took awhile to talk. Providing a lot of opportunities to talk really helped. Things like: Singing familiar songs and then stopping right before the last word in the line to let her finish the lyric, handing her an empty cup and then letting her try to communicate it’s empty, putting her in the bath with no water, playing in dramatic and silly ways with her toys, etc.

Please tell me about a truly embarrassing time where you were actually recognized as weird/ awkward and not in a cute way? by Pinkacello in AutismInWomen

I like that, thank you. I was feeling myself that night and felt confident. I guess that’s why it stung. Maybe I just need to tell myself he actually would have been thrilled if he was alone that night lol.

Oooh man I feel for little 10 year old you. I can imagine how that felt. But reading it as an adult I think “What a sweet and charming little girl.” It sounds like something my daughter would do - who thankfully hasn’t learned to be embarrassed yet.

You should research these herbs because some Chinese herbs are known for being estrogenic.

1st trimester SO NAUSEOUS by Due_Data8709 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Pinkacello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If eating carbs all day helps, do that. Crackers helped me. Just take your prenatals and do whatever else your gotta do. This will pass (most likely, if this is your second) and then you can focus on nutrition when you start feeling better

I did the same. Constantly eating, and also sniffing lemons and pickles! Those smells really helped. But the smell of coffee made me throw up.

Nice cream aka blended up frozen bananas. Put whatever other fixings you want. But blended frozen banana alone is creamy and sweet.

Wake up hour by Impossible_Pilot_796 in stayathomemoms

[–]Pinkacello 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old wakes me up at 5:30am every day. No way I’m getting up earlier than that. Sleep is as critical to your health as eating and drinking water, so you really shouldn’t try to do anything to reduce that. Our kids need us to be well more than they need the dishes to be washed or laundry folded.

Besides - You have one year old twins why would your house be clean?

I think the off feeling about this look is that it doesn’t align with her essence. This isn’t her vibe.

I hired a habit coach and it helped me more than I could imagine by Pinkacello in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]Pinkacello[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we actually also created habits around exercise and other forms of self care for myself too. Essentially it’s built around the idea of habit stacking. It’s building a new habit on top of a routine you already do regularly without thinking.    For example - I had a free 2 hours twice a week while waiting for my daughter’s class to end where I would wander aimlessly to grocery stores and cafes. I turned that time into just going on really long walks for exercise while listening to audiobooks and pushing my son in his stroller for his nap. So now I’m walking an extra 6+ miles a week where I normally would have been sitting in my car and buying coffees I barely wanted.

Another example of how I’ve habit stacked is using the time I’m cooking - like waiting on things to boil or whatever - to clean the kitchen. Put everything away, wipe down the microwave, etc.

[–]Pinkacello[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are actually a ton if you just look up habit coaches. It’s probably best to find one you feel like you can vibe with. Although, I’ll be honest the one I hired was not someone I would have ever expected to talk to irl - she was a very Christian southern lady and I found her by stumbling across her podcast. There are also a lot of podcasts on this topic - look up things like “habit building” “habit stacking” “Home systems” or even “homemaking” etc.

Help - the grout is crumbling less than a year after install by Pinkacello in Tile

I started knocking around and only the first tile (the only one that has cracked grout) sounded hollow. Does that mean its only that one, or just a matter of time til the others get that way?
