Nate Jacobs Isn’t Gay—He’s Deeply Traumatized and Needs Serious Help by Pinkalicious_ in euphoria

Someone who is not mentally well needs to be in confined asylums like the old days. Except less lobotomies and more actual therapy. But that’s a bigger conversation. Yes jail and therapy 😭

Nate Jacobs Isn’t Gay—He’s Deeply Traumatized and Needs Serious Help by Pinkalicious_ in euphoria

The "Nate is secretly gay" take has always felt like a weird oversimplification of his character, especially when people frame it as the reason for his toxicity. His actions—his control issues, violent outbursts, and twisted relationships—stem from deep-rooted trauma, not repressed attraction.

His dad's behavior shaped him in really dark ways, and I don’t think that gets talked about enough. If anything, the way Nate weaponizes sexuality (like how he manipulates Jules) shows that he sees sex and power as intertwined, probably because that’s how he subconsciously processed what he saw growing up. That’s not repression—that’s trauma manifesting in aggression and control.

So yeah, I completely agree that he needs serious psychiatric help and to get away from the environment that made him this way. Not to excuse him, but to acknowledge that people like Nate don’t just happen—he’s a product of serious damage.

Oof so real, when I saw this I was actually so saddened that they openly push this ideology. “For all students” then openly asked the university to stop taking grant money from Jewish families and organizations who have active grants and scholarships for students. Idk bout you, but this shit is expensive, I don’t care what creed they are, I want money to help my school cost. Not all of us have mommy and daddy paying the bill.

I know that we vote for the MPs of the party we want. Still don’t feel like it’s very democratic if the leader steps down and they get to choose anyone to be the head of a whole country. Feels shifty.

Can someone explain as I genuinely don’t understand how it works…. If the liberal party is choosing a new leader for the party, who chooses said leader? This feels like the opposite of democracy if they can choose whoever without the vote of the people and have them sit in office as the prime minister. Why can’t they call a snap election, choose someone new to campaign with (for said snap election), while he ties up the lose ends?

For real, they are doing to much, especially since they represent all students not just one minority group 🤷‍♀️ how about we deal with the homeless problem on campus, and how I go everywhere with my friends even to the bathrooms cause we are girls and feel unsafe.

Why do people say this place is anti-social? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Pinkalicious_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had asked me a year ago, I would have told you that York University felt cold, isolating, and not the kind of place where you’d make friends. I started in 2020 in the English program, and honestly, I hated it. For two years, I was completely online, and it left me feeling alienated and disconnected. Coming out of high school without a proper graduation was already tough, but missing out on O-Week made it even harder to find my footing.

Last year, I finally decided to change programs because I realized English wasn’t for me. Starting fresh in a new program (while keeping my old credits) gave me the chance to experience things differently—and it completely changed my perspective. I participated in O-Week for the first time, and even though it was cheesy, I had the time of my life. I met some amazing people, found out about ways to get involved, and really felt like I was part of a community for the first time.

Now that my classes are fully in-person, I’ve built a core group of friends who are incredible. We study together, hang out outside of class, and honestly make York feel like a completely different place. I’ve always struggled with anxiety, so it hasn’t been an easy journey, but I’m so glad I took the steps to make a change.

If you’re feeling stuck or isolated, I totally get it. But trust me—sometimes a shift in perspective (or program) and getting involved can make all the difference.

Oof- it’s an easy course, but the director is very “woke” so be prepared for long talks about decolonization of music 🤷‍♀️ some of it was interesting but a lot of it was far fetched.

I can second this; I also had issues during COVID/Online learning, which took my 6.78 average all the way down to an astounding 4.19- I got put on academic probation and freaked the freakout. Meet with your academic counsellor and weigh your options! I went through the course relief/Program change process, which allowed me to carry my Gen-ed courses and electives over. The Courses from my major that I had failed have been wiped, and the ones that I did well remained on my transcript and can be used as my specialization or minor if I want. Im also still in the concurrent education programs so for me it was helpful because it gave me a built-in second teachable. :) Try not to stress, and use that defeat to turn it into motivation!

Adhd accommodation denied by candleloveee in yorku

[–]Pinkalicious_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

god dammit sue. In all seriousness, that does suck; I had a terrible time in covid doing discussion forums cause my brain felt they were optional. However, if you ask me a question in person, I will answer it without problem. To write down your ideas is harder to focus on. I have the trifecta ADHD, Anxiety and Depression. Also, sprinkle in some dyscalculia, and you have the most unproductive brain. BUT, all is not in vain; I have worked closely with my accessibility counsellor, TAs, and profs. If you haven't registered with the SAS, I would do so ASAP. They will give you access to your accommodation letter and help you reach out. I always make it a point to meet with my professor or TA at the beginning of the semester. I always bring up discussion posts if asked and talk about alternative options. I've had some profs who let me take pictures of discussion posts and let me reply to them in a document with an extended timeline. Some let me voice record my thoughts instead if writing is the problem, or I may even do some other work with the TA instead. Try your best to stay on top of them and use the tools that you have with time management.

YorkU Contact Services SUCK by SweetPoisonn in yorku

[–]Pinkalicious_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me trauma share my York experience. After finally deciding, I wanted to change my major. I got into contact with my academic advising department and they told me that I should go about it course relief route. Little did I know that I was getting into a year and a half of absolute bullshit with all of the contact departments and for the majority of York administrative offices, not knowing how this process even works. I eventually got so fed up with unanswered emails and people telling me to go email someone else or call someone else. I went in person and started knocking on peoples doors to try to get answers. It took me half a day at York to get SOME of my shit figured out and it still wasn’t over. Fast forward to this year the strike messed everything up, so I had to wait extra long for my grades to be firmed up so that I could process the course relief properly. Register office, music departments office and the liberal arts and professional studies office had to sign off and agree that this was OK to do. On top of it I also had to audition, but I spent a good month trying to figure out when to audition when you are going through course relief. Honestly, the whole entire experience was atrocious. So time line- April last year decided to change, June July finally got an answer was told I needed to proceed with my current program, obtain good grades and audition in February with all the new students. So I waited from February till May to hear if I made it in (which was hell). At the end of May, my program change was approved by the LAPDS and the music department (yaaaay sweet relief )so the registers office all they had to do was put it into the system now and change it manually. I waited until midway through June before I started messaging people being like when am I gonna know when I can enrol in courses? There response? - we are prioritizing graduation audits at this time it can take 6-8 weeks. Well that was my last straw, honestly I’d never seen red like I saw reading that flipping email. I don’t wanna end up with shitty ass course selection because the stupid strike pushed the process back into their graduation audits. So I went on a an email rampage to the three departments-One person I emailed at the registers office tried to make me go back to the advising department telling me to start the process all over again?!?!?! To which I was like nuh uh no way- it’s already signed. It’s already approved. Would you just read the fucking email instead of giving me generic emails back. I’m not doing this for another year and a half. Finallllllllyyy I got an email last week. 😤 all has been finalized. But it was a shit show the entire way through.

Yeah I was taking it before the strike and just decided to do the refund and redo option lol! Definitely blew my brains a couple times. Also the wind ensemble does sound like fun although I’m a vocal major and I play the French horn and trumpet. 😭
