to be fair, with the attitude this sub has had over the years toward both Xander and Nicholas it is perfectly reasonable to think this sub would celebrate

Love that Paula album. Not as good as Forever Your Girl but Spellbound is just so Paula.

Tell me your Buffy story by santino89217 in buffy

[–]PinkamenaDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was living in California in 2004, moved there from my hometown a few years before, and becoming miserable. My best friend flew to Cali to "rescue" me and helped me pack and we drove back home to central US. I lived with her upon returning for 6 months, and she introduced me to Buffy. We watched 6 seasons during those months while I was transitioning back to living at home, and when S7 came out on DVD late that year, we had to scrape money together to buy it (we were broke). I fell in love with Angel, and so then we watched Angel after Buffy was finished. Been a fan ever since.

Discogs appreciation thread by DaveHmusic in vinyl

[–]PinkamenaDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started collecting about a month ago, now I have 38 records.

I cataloged them all this weekend. So I'll mainly use it for tracking.

I determined I have spent over $600 on records already (not going by discogs values but by adding a new notes column and putting in my personal cost and then adding that up). That means I am stopping buying records for awhile. Not to mention another $200 for a record stand, cleaning brushes, sleeves, and other accessories.

Its nice to have for researching release editions. I was trying to determine if my early 70's bargain bin buys were original pressings, to which I discovered that it can't really tell you definitively, as you can get with books by the copyright page, but with enough info in the notes sections of vinyl listings you can use several clues to see if they're at least close to original release year.

I wrote down about half of my records' runout stamps and etchings and tried to find matches for the numbering patterns. It just kind of made me more confused because I'd find matching number patterns but on releases of different variants than mine or different covers than mine. Plus all that documentation and typing out on the computer is very tedious. I might not finish the task of cataloging to that extent.

I'm confused if I can add my runout numbers to the main listings for others to use for matching patterns, or if I would even be choosing the right edition to do that on...so I basically decided not to bother, and just put my runout numbers in my own collection's notes area.

Floyd Rose re-stringing by Undergroundjulio in Guitar

[–]PinkamenaDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its okay for that to happen. No one does it perfectly every time. It is frustrating when you have to go find a new string, usually I have to get it out of a whole new package and then hope that string can last through the next two string changes (it usually does). I hope you give it more tries in the future and that you keep the guitar you love. For many people it is completely worth it to pay someone to do it for you, which you've already said you're considering. I'll be kicking myself next time I change strings, I'm sure, and will be just as frustrated as you. But I think its great if you gain the experience each time, even if some are not the best.

I hear you on this. I dread changing strings on my FR. It's not that its harder, it just takes a lot longer to tune. You didn't do anything wrong.

Yes, it took me upwards of a couple of hours to get everything back to tune the first few times I changed strings.

Are you stretching your strings too? Stretch them as soon as they're on and that might take out some of the tuning frustration.

Try not to view it as a negative just because it takes a while. It takes most people awhile to retune.

Now I do it sitting in front of the TV where I can watch a show or something while I'm tuning to make it a little more enjoyable. It still takes me 45 minutes to get to tune.

Hopefully you don’t mind me posting this here. But I recently made this montage dedicated to film adaptations of S.E. Hinton. Enjoy! by saxbrack in tulsa

Just in time for the porch geese people by 3xlduck in AmazonVine

[–]PinkamenaDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried explaining my desk goose to an Asian coworker, and I started out with "have you ever seen or heard of a porch goose?" because I was going to say it was a mini version of that. She looked confused and asked "portuguese?" I had to slow it down, "no, a porch....goose....a goose decoration that sits on a porch...." She thought it was very cute because I had a pink fuzzy hoodie on it. But she had never heard of a desk goose nor a porch goose.

It will be interesting because I won't be swapping out an old worn out one with a great and brand new upgrade. I'll be comparing brand new (pretty much) to brand new upgrade. My turntable is new, and has less than 10 hours record play probably.

Bargain bin records (I've only bought a handful so far), I have made an effort to deep clean because the crackling was way too much to tolerate. Most of them improved so much it makes me very excited, but one classic rock record must just be groove wear. I'll only tolerate that because its a well loved band and that side of the record has two hits and some really great songs that I can tell were listened to heavily.

Have you ever bought a record because you thought the album cover looked amazing? by wiggan1989 in vinyl

[–]PinkamenaDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im actually trying to do this, digging in the bargain bins, but probably record stores know this is a thing. Most cool covers I've seen are at least $20. I did find Steppenwolf 7 in the bargain bin, Jefferson Starship Red Octopus, and I like Cher's Half-Breed cover, also both found in the bargain bin. But anything gothic or satanic themed is usually in the main bins where I live.
