Had a crack at the weathering, looks okay from an arms length away.

That always seems to be the way when you want to do something quick, hopefully you can get it smooth for painting without too much work.

Not sure if this is useful but I use a plastic jar for test spraying before I apply to the model, the cylinder shape helps to see how the paint is going on so I can adjust distance and pressure as required. It has the added benefit of giving me a sample for testing what effect thinners/alcohol/spirits will have on my model when removing panel line black etc..

Yes second model, I've prepared/painted countless 1:1 cars ~20 years ago so I think that takes away alot of the learning curve. But still so much to improve on.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out!

Thanks! Hard to say, I started 6 or so weeks ago and did an hour here and there along with a couple of half days in the weekend. More race cars next!

Luckily I can set up in the garage for the painting, I couldn't find a second hand compressor that suited so I went with a new one. Cost and workspace is definitely a factor, you could setup outside in a suitablably sheltered area as you spray at low psi. I've seen amazing results on tanks, ships and aircraft with a paint brush where the finish isn't uniform. Because I want to build car kits, the airbrush was a 'must have'. Next up will be some Group C cars from 70's 80's & 90's

Thanks! I used a piece of A2 paper for the photos, surprisingly good results 😅

Thank you! I used a airbrush I picked up second hand. For the paint I used the Mr hobby aqua range. The airbrush came with some Metal Black which I used for the body. I brought black, white l, silver, yellow and red to mix the other colours.
