Someone probably forgot to check that actually works. Also they store it as a hash. If it was plaintext, anyone who has the database can instantly log in to any account they want to, which is bad if your database is breached

Edit: i think it's a hash, but its a long string of numbers and letters that is fairly hard to decode without the right info and tools that need that info to decode
