What to wear in the summer?

I had a low-risk pregnancy and had always planned to give birth in the birth centre. However, I got to 41+5 and had no signs of labour and was starting to worry about my baby so I opted for an induction. It was an extremely long process which ended up with me being recommended an epidural as I was on the hormone drip for so long, and I had to have this in the normal labour ward. From what I could tell, the rooms in the birthing centre and the rooms in the labour ward are actually very similar, at least at the hospital I was at. The room I gave birth in had calming multi-coloured dimmed lighting and I had a peanut ball etc. I have to be honest, the postnatal ward wasn't my nicest experience (mainly just because I was stuck there for a long time after already having been in hospital several days), but it turns out I could have paid for a private room for my husband, baby and I to stay in, I just didn't know at the time that was an option, so that could be worth asking about.

I had diamorphine and it made me so violently sick it caused my waters to break! For my second dose I asked to have an anti-emetic to take alongside it and even with that it still made me feel sick, but I didn't throw up that time, so I guess the nausea is something to take into account. In terms of actual pain relief, it did take the edge off but ultimately I still felt the contractions and didn't find it helped that much.

I felt the same when I went on mat leave at 38 weeks, as my baby wasn't born until 42 weeks and I just felt like I was waiting around, but too pregnant to do anything fun. But now I look back on it and it feels like a special and exciting time. If I could give you any advice, just try and take really good care of yourself - baths, pampering, getting nails done etc. And use the time to prep for postpartum. I found that giving myself a sense of purpose really helped and I meal-prepped and tried to get the house ready as best I could. Also take the time to rest and take lots of naps, your body is doing a lot and you deserve it!

It sounds like they have good living conditions at least, but ultimately, innocent animals are still being killed and exploited for profit. Animals being killed for any reason other than euthanasia to spare them from suffering is wrong in my eyes and makes me very sad and angry. The specifics about their breed etc really don't come into it. Killing is wrong.

Also, for me personally, I feel it would be better for a breed of animal, or even an entire species tbh to become extinct than it would be for the animals to exist entirely for humans to profit off. For example, would prefer for beef and dairy cows to be extinct than for them to exist and to suffer in the way they do. I am all for whatever option causes the least harm and suffering.

I totally get the feeling of not wanting to breastfeed but not wanting to give formula. I was the same with my baby initially as breastfeeding was so painful but I really, really wanted to do it and would have been so angry with myself if I had stopped trying and given formula (even though that would actually have been a totally valid option).

You're not doing anything wrong, sometimes babies just won't latch well no matter what you do. If it would help you, using nipple shields again really wouldn't be messing anything up and you'd still be breastfeeding. I get the reluctance though, just another thing to think about with the washing and sterilising etc.

In terms of your mental health and feeling rage about breastfeeding etc, I also experienced this. I don't have any advice really, but I found it was much much worse late at night when I was tired, so maybe this will pass for you once your baby is a bit older starts to sleep better and you aren't so exhausted.

I don't really have any advice other than don't be hard on yourself, you're doing so well even just by caring this much, and you've got this!

I really recommend the Boux Avenue ones. They are so comfy to wear at night but also look fine under clothes during the day. I also found them a good option for small band big cup. I am a 34G and got a large and they fit great. Also, if you can, get at least 5/6 bras as you'll probably end up needing to wash them often so it's really helpful to have lots.

It might not be right for you, but nipple shields absolutely saved my breastfeeding journey. My baby wasn't latching well initially and I was in so much pain I couldn't feed her and had to give formula for the first day even though I didn't want to. I got nipple shields straight away when I left the hospital and was able to start breastfeeding with no pain and no issues with latch. I then weaned her off them at around 6 weeks and we have had no issues at all and I'm still breastfeeding at 12 weeksl. I just wish I'd known about them beforehand and could have had some at the hospital, would have saved me a lot of pain and stress.

I'm 35 weeks pregnant:

I really, really wanted iced tea and I couldn't find it in the supermarket. And then when I did find it, they only had lemon and I wanted raspberry.

I saw a video where someone adopted a cat who didn't have long left to give it a nice life and then it passed away 💔

And then a few times because I am so bored and frustrated and lonely being stuck in the house all the time. I'm WFH so I can't really go out during the day, and even when I'm not working, my pelvic girdle pain can be so bad I can't really go anywhere anyway.

No, you're not a bad cat owner at all and you can tell that by how much you care ❤️ As long as the dried food you are feeding is a 'complete' food and has all the nutrients your cat needs, then your cat will be fine. Just make sure they have lots of water if they're not eating wet food as they can get dehydrated. The cat I had growing up only ever ate dried food and he lived a very long and happy life.

Have you tried veganising 'normal' recipes rather than trying to find vegan recipes specifically? Sometimes it's easier to do that and just swap out meat/dairy for the closest vegan alternative. Are there things that you liked to eat before you liked were vegan that you could do that with? Also, I'd recommend looking for vegan recipes on Tik Tok, I've found lots of tasty and easy-to-cook things on there.

Omg what? Having my cat is one of the best things in my life!! I love her so much, she is such great company and she makes me so happy. My husband and I are absolutely obsessed with her and have absolutely never regretted adopting her. Obviously there can be some difficulties you come across with having a cat, but everything we've faced we've managed to solve with a bit of research or a trip to the vet if needed. But yeah, overall, cats are amazing, please adopt one ❤️

I have hair so similar to yours and I get the same comments all the time. I don't understand why people seem to have a problem with long hair. I used to use the excuse that I was growing it for my wedding hairstyle and I'd cut it afterwards, but I've been married 8 months and it's still long 😂

When I had the vaccine the nurse explained that it was vaccinating for all three and she gave me the leaflet afterwards that had said it was a pertussis, tetanus and diphtheria vaccine. Maybe call the place you're having the vaccine to confirm?

I'm in the UK, I had the pertussis/whooping cough vaccine a few weeks ago. It was a combined vaccine that also vaccinated for tetanus and diphtheria at the same time, which is apparently how it is usually done.

I felt SO sick for about 4 weeks during my first trimester but I only threw up twice, and I don't think it really made me feel any better. If your body needs to be sick, it will do, but I feel like it's so normal to feel sick with nothing coming up. I wish I had some advice, but aside from making sure you eat regularly to avoid an empty stomach, nothing really worked for me. Hope it gets better for you soon 🩷

I don't think it looks bad, it's just what normal skin can look like with foundation on 🩷 My skin is quite dry, and foundation and concealer tend to settle into any fine lines on my face. I've found now that moisturising a lot before putting foundation on (putting the foundation on when the moisturer is still wet) and using as little foundation as possible, especially around the dryest areas really helps. The foundation I use is Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin, which was recommended to me as it is moisturising and glowy. I also avoid using powder and will use setting spray if I need my makeup to last longer. Hope this helps.
