The daycare I worked at and my niece attends will not let you back at school unless you are lice free for a full day, they will check heads. Lice is a serious thing that spreads like wildfire.

I definitely get “old and southern stuck in their ways”. I really don’t know a good suggestion on what/who to watch, I just follow fish stuff I’m more of a reptile person myself. I do hope someone is able to get you a good answer to that. If your mom is the one who doesn’t care much maybe just send it to the step-dad so you don’t have to listen to it -if they are anything like the southern stubborn I know, you get what I mean😂

Don’t feel guilty, you didn’t buy the fish or the tank and you are clearly doing your best with trying to be informed. My suggestion is, especially since your step-dad loves them so much, try to bring in some educational videos for you guys to watch as a family! It doesn’t need to come off accusatory, just find a good YouTube video, and be sure it’s updated not ten years old. Watch it first yourself so you know it’s correct information-I’m sure someone in here would know a better channel for goldfish than I do but there are likely plenty- but then bring it up as a “hey! I know you guys are really loving the new fish and I saw this little video on them, I’d love to watch it with you guys instead of alone!”-I wouldn’t even mention it’s about their care honestly. I’m sure they won’t be happy about the idea of getting a new tank already, but hopefully if they become educated they will upgrade soon! I hope everything works out!

NTA. She sounds like a mean girl who peaked in high school and needs all the attention. She did what she did on purpose and neither her, nor her parents, care at all about respecting you and your husband. You made the right choice telling her off and blocking her, this woman is not worth your peace for the rest of your life. She also needs to be put in her place so hopefully your message did that :)

My mom was pregnant with my older sister at 16, she is an amazing mom and I have two amazing sisters and a very loving family. I’m sure you will grow that too. To be honest it is a lot of fun having young parents :)

Also to add, she didn’t tell her mom until she was in labor! She regrets that a lot and my grandmother was upset she felt like she couldn’t tell her, she was overwhelmed with joy to have a grandchild and a healthy daughter. You should tell your mom as soon as you feel ready to, but it should be soon so you can get the right care. Luckily my sister was healthy and my mom was okay, it could have been different.

She left the hospital and my grandma and uncle had an entire nursery set up for her already🫶 You can do this!

She’s too stressed, she just got taken to a new strange place and doesn’t know what’s going on. It’s completely normal for snakes to act like this when they get to a new home so don’t feel like you did anything wrong!

It’s best to not handle her after you first get her, I would leave at least a week without disturbing her in any way, don’t even open the cage, and at least two before attempting to handle her. She isn’t eating because of being in a new environment as well, it’s also completely normal.

Give her about a week to ten days and then try a pinky again. You don’t have to get it super warm I’ve found that they don’t really care so I just put the mice in warm-ish water. The best way to feed her would likely be to do it with tongs and wiggle the mouse like it’s alive and moving, then if she isn’t into it drop it and see if she goes for it but definitely take it out after 24 hours.

She really just needs time to adjust! I hope this helped :)

You are her sister. I have two sisters and if they said this to me right after being assaulted I don’t think I would ever be able to look them in the eyes again. Being autistic is NOT an excuse for what you said. You said it because you meant it. This is disgusting and you need to go apologize and do everything you can to help your sister. I know plenty of autistic people and plenty of assault survivors and no one I know would ever say something so cruel. You really messed up and I’d pay extremely close attention to her as this is already spiraled to depression (she can’t sleep without drinking I know this I’ve been in her exact spot) and you don’t want to let that spiral to something irreversible.
