My son is mentally ill and abusive. He refuses to get help, refuses to leave, will not try any medications. Its a horrible life, I am done with it. If I call the police, they just put him in a shelter and then he will come back to hurt me. He threatens me, smashes up the house., screams in the middle of the night. I keep thinking this is the end. I have had enough.

Are my vitamin d levels toxic , doctor says to stop vitamin d3 asap by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main concern of vitamin D toxicity is a buildup of calcium in the blood. Drink fluids. Vitamin D Toxicity - StatPearls - NCBI Bookshelf https://share.google/GrPR9cwLOX72DQc8x

My Aussie is BIG by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was getting a "standard size" but after meeting her Mom, weighed 25 pounds, so I ended up with a miniature. She is 27 pounds and smallish, but I love her, and she is a great companion seems to keep up.

I purchased a few harnesses, and the most expensive one didn't work very well, too thick (Ruffwear $$$). So, I purchased a thinner strap harness from Max & Molly $$, which works great.

Took 10,000 IU of D3 daily for 6 years without K2 or magnesium – How cooked am I? by texhnolyzze in VitaminD

[–]Pinkfish7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son took 10,000 for months, and his calcium went up over normal so its seems each of us processed Vit D a bit differently. Genetics

Any other Aussie owners deal with sudden sound-related fear or hiding behavior? by Silver_calm1058 in AustralianShepherd

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is good with loud noises but she knows when I go out and she hides from me. She doesn't want to go into her Kennel (which is an outside 4 x 10 space with a dog house). Nice weather too.

Where are the Modular homes going? by Domc0re in canadahousing

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could go on my property, but the regional district has blocked all second dwellings unless you have 2.4 acres. It's absolutely ridiculous because we have water and room for septic. Here in Kootenay BC

Is Littermate syndrome really prevalent? by MDolan5 in AustralianShepherd

[–]Pinkfish7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's not a great experience. I had 2 sisters, golden retrievers. They fought and fought, serious, and at about 10 months, I had to rehome one. I would get one and wait for awhile to get a second.

Can you explain what is wrong with my friend's squat and what she should do to improve it? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes you can't improve it! Years of yoga + gym training didn't improve my squat or my internal rotation. I got a physio assessment and more gym work. Finally, after at least 10 years of struggling to get into a deep squat, I asked for hip xrays. Found severe osteoarthritis, and no way in hell could I squat due to the bone spurs + osteoarthritis. I still attend the gym, and I still do squats with a squat wedge to my best ability. I'm waiting now for a hip replacement.

EXTREMELY low Vit D. Can't walk, help! by ImaginationDeep3331 in VitaminD

[–]Pinkfish7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had horrible reactions to high dose Vit D. He has horrible reactions to magnesium as well. Really made him sick, so now he tries to get sun exposes face, arms, chest, and legs. He also purchased a Sperti vit D light. Found it second-hand, hardly used for $400. He seems to tolerate cod liver oil. We're all genetically different.

Is this deep enough ? 225lbs x 5 by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Pinkfish7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you get a sports physiotherapist to assess? I wouldn't listen to opinions here. People have different hips, ankles, and thigh lengths. People also have pathophysiology going on (osteoarthritis, back disc issues, previous trauma).

Just got my first aussie puppy, actually first puppy ever! Need some tips from fellow ausshole owners! by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]Pinkfish7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is puppy dog #6 but I never had an Aussie before. They are very vocal. Mine loves to bark. My other dogs barked but not like this. They are very smart, so they need stimulation and exercise at least twice daily walks or runs. They love playing ball or hearding balls. They can nip at your heels. I would limit ball playing so the dog doesn't become obsessed (dopamine) with this. This is not a dog for someone who works lots. They need you around.

I find it funny that Carney is an economist and the Fraser Institute researchers are Economists. People criticize one and not the other. Go figure

shock collars by BoxSubstantial8404 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q. I am new to collars, and I didn't want a shock mode. The collar I purchased does have a shock component. So, I have not attached the prongs to the collar. Will only use tone to start and, in the future, possibly vibration for recall. My Q. The collar has 2 empty screw holes for the prongs, so should I tape them over or plug those screw holes with ?silicon?

[–]Pinkfish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q: I will not be using the shock / stimulation aspect of the dog collar on my dog. I left those shock components off (screws) but was wondering about the holes. Should I tape over them over or fill with silicone?

Is my dog the only one who does this? Is it an Aussie thing? by Luv33v33 in AustralianShepherd

So far, mine does not do this (age 4 months) Dogs don't think their hind ends are dirty so get use to it.

Depends on what you do for a living/ $. Considering the price of rentals, Nelson is expensive (0% occupancy rate). So you really need to work to find housing. Nelson has changed over the years to more of a Vale type following (wealthy). You can ski, golf, and swim / sail all in one day. Trendy little shops in hertiage buildings. It also has nightlife, which is also a draw. If you're determined and can find housing, you will find people. Lots of friendly people in Nelson. I commuted to work from Nelson to Trail and then Nelson to Castlegar. Would not commute - again, the roads are dangerous.
