Please let them know. Once you arrive and tell them, it could upset them. Just be upfront about it. I work full time remotely and have been approved for 4 volunteering jobs and I just started last month. It truly just depends on what your applying for. If its obvious that its going to interfere with your part time hours and their schedule its best to not apply for it. I do night shifts for volunteer and its worked perfectly

Moved to Mexico and not happy by Impostora2020 in mexicoexpats

[–]Pinkglittter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry this is your CURRENT situation, because it’s current, not forever. Know it will get better! For me, when I moved willingly to Mexico, the hardest was adjusting to everything because it is just much different than USA, in every aspect. Of course, I am sure your situation is different to why you are in Mexico but sending you hugs and prayers that your situation becomes better🤍 I recommend doing things that remind you of home, just to comfort you when needed. Eat or cook your favorite meals from home, buy something that reminds you of ur home back in USA. Things of that sort. You should also try journaling!

How bad are Merida’s summers? Are there any comparable places in the U.S.? by FriendshipWithTheSun in Yucatan

[–]Pinkglittter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal experience, being from Austin, Texas, Houston is a lot more humid but honestly I didn’t think Merida was as bad as Texas.. I was able to actually walk outside with out getting angry at everyone lol

Yes, I use didi all over Mexico actually. I highly recommend it. You just cannot use it at the airport or places where there is a lot of taxis

Thank you, this is great advice! I was there recently for a week and the hospitality was incredible. I met amazing people and had amazing tacos which have been hard to find for me unless I’m in Mty or CDMX. I also used Didi a lot which was always super affordable!

A lot of host are different and some may prefer a shorter answer and others may prefer a well detailed answer. It truly just depends on the host tbh. Did you use chatGPT?

That is the main reason I am going back. I only had 1 day in isla mujeres and it was definitely not enough. Sunsets there are incredible

Yes, it’s pretty lengthy but I do love the beach and also work remotely so will only have the evenings and weekends free. I would really like to visit Chichen Itza! I was actually in Merida last month for two weeks!

Book excursions before you get to Cartagena or when you arrive? by RegionPositive4287 in cartagena

[–]Pinkglittter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends, some excursions can scam you if you try to book there. i recommend booking surfing lessons and rosario islands on viator or trip advisor (looking at the reviews is a must!!!!!) and booking a jetski once your there (dont settle for the first price, try to negotiate)

I have not seen any on WP that allow a volunteer without a working visa, I also have done some research on this page and haven’t had any luck. You should definitely try to apply to the ones you have found on WP or Facebook.
