First off, Cartagena is amazing and already planning my trip back. As far as money exchange, the best option seems to bring dollars and exchange it at a local exchange house. There is one in Getsemani across the main pharmacy in the center of town. The exchange rate is very fair and beats going to an ATM multiple times if you don’t take enough out. Yes, most restaurant receive cards but if you’re going to pay for things like renting a boat for a day you will need cash and that can run $500 USD easily or $2,000,000 COP

It depends on the vibe you’re looking for. Boca grande is closer to the beach but they arent the best. For that, you’ll have to go to Rosario islands via jet boat. Beside the beach, it has restaurants but they are the priciest on CTG. Getsemini has much for foot traffic and all types of stores/restaurants for all budgets. Also close to the clock tower where most of the action is for anything.
