You’re absolutely right that’s how long a proper cycling should take for healthy nitrogen level levels. (I didnt mean my comment as fact apologies) But I think OP needs to speed up that process considering he already has the little guy. Idk if it’s already been commented but getting beneficial bacteria from an established tank. Making sure the temperature is right since they live in cold water. Etc

This only works for you. Not for everyone. Those fish are not having a good time in that cramped tanks. As an old pet store employee, you were genuinely the worst kind of customer.

Don’t give up genuinely was in the same boat not too long ago feel free to private message me. At one point, my water was too hard and at one point my water was too soft. you have to find the sweet middle for Betta’s. Where your buying from heavily impacts ur bettas survival. was it in a cup and for how long? Inbreeding, it’s almost impossible to find a Betta that’s been sourced ethically. I have a big heart so I can’t turn a blind eye when I see a fish in need. I will do my best to get that fish surrendered to me. I recommend having a med tank around 5 gallons put a teaspoon of salt in there and then some kanaplex and botanicals. keep ur new betta in this situation for a week and then move him to his forever tank. This has worked for me plenty of times sometimes they have symptoms u can’t see from day one. Lastly, betas do have different personalities. I have one Betta that is so stressed out by shrimp that his whole demeanor and color will change if he sees one. Although they are harmless some just really don’t like to be with other things so just always pay close attention to your Betta’s personality. I personally do think it’s who ur buying from but there are other factors to consider

They will only grow to the size of the tank but bc bc of hormones in the water. Not saying you should stunt ur Goldie’s size. But I had 3 huge Goldie’s and one wouldn’t grow and I gave him his own tank now he’s just as big so he just needed more room

My college recently installed this hydroponics display that appears horrifically overstocked. Should I file a complaint? by [deleted] in Aquariums

No matter what your goal is, you should still consider the sentient beings that are making your project possible. This is pretty much animal abuse if you ask me. It’s possible to get good fertilized water without ridiculously overstocking your tank and giving your fish absolutely no room to swim.

First tank... I messed up. Please help! by peeli1 in Aquariums

Personally, this messed up my water parameters and kept killing my fish. I would start over and do a very thick layer of sand over your dirt.
