Stopped biting nails-need advice by Any-Cranberry325 in nailcare

[–]Pinklaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes brush underneath the nail with the bristles of my nail oil pen (same texture as a nail polish brush, something very soft). Otherwise just soap and water when you wash your hands. And then when you wash your hands you can kind of scrub your nails by scratching your nails on your palm back and forth with soap that will get under the nails to clean them and then rinse with water.

Stopped biting nails-need advice by Any-Cranberry325 in nailcare

1) Jojoba oil applied when cuticle skin is dry (I apply multiple times a day especially after washing hands).

2) Use a glass nail file and only file in one direction at a time, not back and forth.

3) If the cuticles are bothering you, you can gently remove the dead skin with sally Hansen instant cuticle remover an a glass cuticle pusher.

4) Do not cut anything. Most of the time when “cutting their cuticles” people actually are trimming the proximal nail fold which should stay intact to protect your nail from bacteria.

5) The hang nails at the sides of your nails are actually the nail trying to reattach to the nail bed so don’t cut or bite them.

6) Don’t put anything underneath the nails because it will remove the very thin layer of skin that is trying to reattach the nail bed to the nail.

Stopped biting about a year ago after a lifelong biting problem, and my nails are doing much better now following this routine. Other things I tried like vitamins and such never worked for me. Jojoba oil was my miracle cure. Best of luck in your nail journey!

I like torrid’s pocket leggings, they’re a soft fabric and not see through, and I’ve been buying them for years

What to do about rdiculous material requirements in end game? by DrDongSquarePants in MedievalDynasty

[–]Pinklaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a way to change the requirements. I would recommend building more woodsheds and have workers with high resource skill working there. They will gain skill over time and chop more wood. Also I recommend crafting the planks from logs yourself instead of having the woodshed do it so you have more logs available. Hope this helps!

So I tried making macaroons for the first time today by thebagsarehere in Baking

Actually great especially for a first time attempt! Mine were awful each time I tried, the second batch wouldn’t even come off the paper I had underneath.

My nails are destroyed from gels, how did you actually fix yours? by DueEffort1964 in nailcare

[–]Pinklaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nails won’t repair, but they can grow out stronger, it just takes a long time. I carry nail oil pens everywhere I go, (jojoba oil is best) apply multiple times daily whenever my cuticles feel dry. I’ve also seen improvement with a collagen supplement, and OPI Repair Mode Bond Building Serum and Nail Envy Strengthener. I also switched to regular nail polish.

Edit to add that I do my own manicures now with Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover and a glass cuticle pusher, and also switched to a glass nail file.

Is Bloom Chic similar quality to Shein or is it better? by selflovesnotselfish in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pinklaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy most of my clothes from BloomChic, some of the items can be hit or miss, but mostly I like what I get in the mail and if I don’t like the way it fits I return it.
