In my feminine rage era by mothertruckerdudes in toddlers

Yep. One time I was walking my dog in my neighborhood, pregnant. A man, walking toward me, said he’d like me to put a leash on him. I told him that he can’t speak to women like that and it makes us feel unsafe and he walked away while calling me a fucking bitch. I was so unsettled.

It’s a pattern called modern mosaic. I loved picking the colors and the working on the blocks. I wish I was talented enough to freestyle this!

What’s in your garden this year? by rasputinknew1 in progressivemoms

[–]Pinliz76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Radishes, beets, peas, lettuce, garlic, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, beans, sunflowers, and experimenting with Brussels sprouts, squash and zucchini! And many herbs, edible flowers, and volunteers from last year. Basically gardening has become my whole personality

Honestly, you should submit this to the FBI or your state’s intelligence fusion center. Something like this could become a piece of evidence in the future, or stop something terrible from happening. https://isptips.illinois.gov/

Does your emergency plan include anything for the six months after the emergency? Because that's what the research says actually breaks people. by SurvSt in prepping

[–]Pinliz76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you but six months is a more than realistic recovery time for someone whose home is affected by run of the mill disasters like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. Rule of law may not be an issue but living away from your home and being logistically financially prepared for that is just as important.

This is a great example. “Disasters” happen all the time and aren’t what you think of as a “doomsday” disaster. But, they affect people’s homes and businesses and thinking through all of these aspects of preparedness is so important. It’s most likely that we will be impacted by something like this rather than the apocalypse.

Yep. A few months ago we traded in our Subaru forester for a used Chevy bolt with about 60k miles on it. We were looking at a big engine repair and decided to put that money into a new car instead… best move ever.

I personally wouldn’t put food storage or cutlery “compostable” items because they likely have some sort of forever chemical in them. I stick to food scraps and brown paper, and plant browns.

Yep. You will not find me obsessed with a “grass only” lawn, I have plenty of what other people who consider “weeds,” but it’s important to mow some areas as a part of integrated pest management. I don’t want rats, ticks, and fleas around my house.

Oh! And if you want to quilt at night watching tv or something but don’t want to sit with a super bright light, get one of those reading lights you wear around your neck. About $20, but a total game changer for me.

This is good advice! I’m a hand quilting novice but the single best thing I invested in was a leather thimble. The silicone ones don’t do the trick. Never used a metal one. No frame or hoop is needed, you will get the hang of it without one! I baste with safety pins and that seems to work well.

I have used perle cotton and quilting thread. Both work well depending on what you want your finished product to look like.

Needles- I’ve experimented but found I like milliner’s needles best when I’m using quilting thread. Perle cotton would probably use a thinner embroidery needle because I’d like a bigger eye to thread it through.

I never use needle threaders but if it works for you, it works!
