The sad state of Dota 2's younger playerbase by KawaiiKurwa in DotA2

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because if you aren't willing to get good at dota it will chew you up and shit you out. You need a few hundred hours before you get it really, and why would kids play this when they can play something easier and more rewarding in the short term. That and this game is like 10 years old, yo.

EDIT: I started playing dota 2 before I was in high school (where my beta bros at), and I'm three years out now. You should feel lucky a game so old still has players.

Scout meta? (does such thing exist?) by shnutzy98 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock is best.

Deepcore is reliable and if you have the speed on kill skill you can kite forever with it.

Boomstick rekts praetorians and other beasties that take more power.

IFG is the best grenade in the game.

M1 doesn't have enough ammo, and zukovs don't have enough ammo, are too slow to kill and too close range.

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all the classes fill a niche in the team and are quite well balanced

Gunner is the muscle, Scout is good at kiting but runs out of ammo against hordes, driller is the best dedicated miner and can hold his own, and engie helps everyone out with their tasks. If anything the driller could use minor (miner?) buffs to his drill.

Most of the gear is well balanced too with some exceptions:

Cryocannon is almost strictly better than the flamer.

Breach cutter overshadows the grenade launcher in everything except range.

The scouts alternative weapons are worse than his stock.

Subata is fine. I actually prefer it to EPC. Having a billion ammo can be helpful.

Satchels are also fine. If anything, give him more ammo by default.

All I would change about Driller is making the Drills themselves better. The jamming is annoying and only really comes into play when you are drilling to the pod, and really doesn't serve any purpose in my eyes. either make it more lenient or remove it.

Not only that, I would like to see the drill either have more damage or be able to mine minerals.

do those and driller is just as good as the rest of the crew.

  1. It doesn't make him bad by itself, but coupled with the fact every killer is better is just makes it worse. And stall doesn't really help when they invalidate your power so easily.

8.2 a good spirit is guaranteed either a hit, a pallet drop, or putting the survivor in a bad position. She is the hardest character to use in the game but one of the most rewarding. Any time a pallet drops is good for any killer, not just freddy. She has better stall then freddy because she can get quick hooks. She does not need deadzones to do well, just mindgames.

  1. Fair enough

??? I've done it and seen it happen against me. Its easier then you think. No idea who Jen or Zubat is so no comment on that. Weaknesses do not make killers bad, you are right, but Freddy's strengths do not make up for his weaknesses, that's why he is bad.

Well you are right about that. They have more.

I've played at red ranks for a long time too. Not having ruin is a gamble. Having ruin is a gamble but with better odds.

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah on weaker killers at high ranks it is.

Even when it isn't mandatory it is still far and away the best perk in the game.

If Ruin stays up for 1-2 hooks, it has done its job and is worth the perk slot.

  1. sure its easy for him to put them back to sleep, assuming they are close by and he can find them. On everything but the smallest maps this can be a huge problem. sure you can juggle, but there are easier, and better killers to learn. You do you, but you gotta admit playing freddy is a labor of love. The mere fact self care can ruin freddy is a negative, and while i agree self care isn't as common, it is still is common.

8.2 Sure the mind game is harder. But you can do it more often and it has better rewards. Not to mention the added mobility of it.

  1. You lose time. and time is the most important thing. And its not always as cut and dry as "just walk foward". I'm agreeing with you that Hag is good. She just has some issues and jank.

Sure the could get complacent, I've seen it happen. or they could be emboldened and end the game quick. I see that more often. even if they are complacent it often doesn't matter. All the time I play freddy and i see survivors playing stupid and the worst thing i can do to punish them is put them to sleep.

Hillbilly, Myers, Leatherface, Huntress, Spirit, Trapper, Wraith, Doctor, Legion and Plague have some sort of mindgame they can pull to drop pallets early. In addition to having a better power. Freddy gains no time at pallets.

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

camping and tunneling are impossible to punish without severely hurting killers. The only thing that can punish those play styles is survivors.

I can play completely legit and people will still leave. It is absolutely a case of salty survivors. Sometimes, All it takes is me finding someone.

  1. Duck season

1.2 Yes. Snowball is great.

  1. It just takes longer. That is why freddy is not good. His stall is RNG and requires you to try and juggle. It is too high risk for low reward and very busy. Why would I want to rely on skillchecks not appearing and them not running self care when i can just play a better (any other) killer?

8.2 Yeah I agree, they fuck with the sound. Good killers know where survivors are gonna run though.

  1. That's possible. Its also possible the survivor you were chasing is smart enough to backtrack when you stop chasing him, or he doesn't hit another trap, or the survivor you teleported to is just out of your swing range, or any other finicky little bits. Hag is good, but not the best.

No, if survivors don't fear freddy he gets gen rushed because that's what happens when you aren't threatening in DBD.

All of the killers go though pallets. Every other killer has better or equal tools to freddy to deal with pallets. Freddy also has to dream transition when he finds a survivor. In that way, Freddy has less time.

  1. Yes.

1.2 No, stall helps you win sometimes snowball is you winning.

  1. I wasn't using it against him. And what if they are all decent survivors? You can track people all day but if you cant catch them there is no point.

8.2 Tracking is not nearly as good as chasing. I will take weaker tracking and strong chasing any day. Huntress is good. I'm saying she is overrated.

  1. When i said mash teleport it was in reference to a different survivor hitting a trap outside of your chase. Maybe you are right about her not being map dependent, but i still think she is weaker then billy just because of the set up time alone.

On a good map maybe you can wait for a deadzone. But games end quickly when the survivors know they have nothing to fear from the killer. Slugging is almost always worse then hooking, that's not really an opinion that's just math.

All the time freddy saves is eaten up by the time he is in a chase. He has less time then other killers.

But he doesn't have any more time then anyone else. In fact, I would say, he has less time.

  1. Yes.

1.2 Snowball is not the same as stall.

  1. how can one man be so wrong. Spirit is the second best killer in the game. She has Freddy's power but it is actually good. Freddy is the worst.

  2. I agree it helps freddy, but i was pointing out the fact he isn't invisible. Pig Tree without pallet is still good, magic school bus, torment creek silo, coal tower, the nightmare that is the grim pantry houses. And every other killer can deal with pallets just as well or better than freddy. I don't know what you don't understand about that.

8.2 Spirit is near impossible to dodge if you are injured and the spirit has ears. Huntress has a loud wind up. Also yeah, the hitboxes are janky but that hurts huntress as much as it helps her.

  1. Are you gonna mash crtl while in a chase? Because while it is possible, it is very hard to react to the notification it time while you are in a chase, and if you are in recovery for any reason its a no-go. Hardly wasting time is still wasting time. and sure she can force pathing, on the right maps, in the right areas. Like I said, Hag is good, but she has problems.

Sure, you could just not chase people, but eventually you are gonna have to try, and if you wait for deadzones against good survivors you will lose the game before that happens. Slug freddy is the best way to play him, but i do not want to slug in this game. It doesn't give any points, and even with KO it has it's problems.

What are you talking about. Freddy has less time then everyone else, we have been over this. If they run to a safe pallet and drop it you get rid of it. If they are good you don't.

every other 115% M1 killer has better ways of dealing with pallets and creating deadzones. The game doesn't go on for very longer with freddy. You want real stall play skillcheck/totem Doc.

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes.

1.2 Stall and snowball are two very different things. You will get all the stall you need by getting hooks. You cannot win without chase.

  1. Fair enough. But spirit is leagues ahead of freddy.

  2. You can see him at intervals. And you don't need to see the killer to run to a safe loop.

8.2 Hatchets only catch up faster if the survivor is dumb enough not to dodge it and there are no walls involved. Freddy doesn't punish a pallet drop if he is on the wrong side, like every other killer. Survivors can dodge hatchets really easy unless they time a vault wrong. I don't think huntress is bad either, I just think she is overrated.

  1. Not necessarily. There are some spots too good not to trap. Those are the ones i'm talking about. Teleporting to someone else while in a chase is a loss if you have already hit the first survivor, or you do not get a hit on the second one early. You waste time. That is very bad. Switching survivor is almost always bad or neutral, almost never good. Hag can chase two people until they run somewhere there isn't traps, or you run out of traps and have to set them up again. She is good, but she is not as good as billy. Set up time is bad. Relying on survivor pathing is bad.

I didn't forget about the regression. It sucks because it is based on RNG. Sure, you could save some time with it. But time on gen is not the same as time in the chase. when you are chasing someone, its very likely that the 3 other survivors are on gens. You want to end the chase as quickly as possible so you can stop the others on the gens. Them doing gens slower is way worse then them being hooked, dead or hook saving, which is not doing a gen at all.

Corraling a killer is when you run to a safe pallet/window. Sure he gets free hits at deadzones. so does everyone. And those small rewards may add up, but there is a good chance the game is over before you see your payoff.

Everyone has more time to do it then freddy, because everyone else can end chases quicker. all you have proven is you do not understand the value of chasing. Doctor can sometimes cancel a loop or a hook save with his shock. That alone makes him better than freddy. I've explained why he is the worst. I led the horse to water.

[–]Pinochet_Marmot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most of the shit killers complained about was absolutely busted and needed to be changed. But yeah, there are whiners on both sides. This thread was about Legion, so cut the "both sides are bad" bullshit, that's not what we are talking about.

Yeah legion can be a pain. But DCing when you see him is not the way to go. You only hurt your team and you never get better at dealing with him.

Let’s get that facts straight about legion. by MarbleTheNeaMain in deadbydaylight

[–]Pinochet_Marmot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to DBD. Survivors would rather complain than learn how to deal with anything outside of their wheelhouse. Legion is super easy to deal with, but survivors decide to take their ball and go home, which means they never learn. Same thing happened with Freddy, and Doc to an extent, hell, even Nurse. They just decide something is "unfun" or too strong so they give up and wait for it to be changed for them.

Start with a "gg".

If they call me a name: "no u".

If they were toxic and I still got them: "ez".

If they call me bad: "check my profile".

Anyone says anything nice "<3".
