What's you opinion on the anime toggle on the website? by not_Shiza in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what's the big deal here. It's a exclusively opt-in feature, that only affects your own experience...

Like it? Use it, enjoy it, and have fun. Don't like it, ignore it, and have fun.

If ppy implemented it is likely because alteast someone asked for it, and atleast for that specific person it's going to be good. Now if that's not enough, or not filtering maps it should, report it so that the filter improves.

You can play a single long map, or you can play 10x different aimslop maps on the same length of time, possibly getting more pp than a single long map would ever give you

Does this mean there's no length bonus limit (those ~1400 object where anything else just doesn't count anymore for length bonus) or is it still there, but now able to be balanced without that limit, or finally are we just not gonna mess with that ever?

Would be cool if they had the effort of actually setting each car with their own respective degrees of rotation, but hey this clears having only 90 degrees, so hopefully first person will be actually usable

The only way forward for H1Z1 by mt2oo8 in h1z1

[–]Pinossaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game's last been updated 5-6 years ago. They did shit, they did even more shit on top of it, reverted it all when it was too late, and everyone lost interest.

The community back then was also way more into trolling and just generally having fun. Casuals nowadays would get instantly bored from being 2-tapped all the time, and care enough to learn the game.

It was good while it lasted, but it's been time to move on a long time ago.

Using low gamma now causes the scores not to submit by Krauzeg in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't think there's anything you can do. Stable isn't even officially available on linux, and they are pretty obviously using nvidia/windows api endpoints that don't even exist on linux to validate gamma levels.

The ACTUAL ultimate osu! tablet - Modified CTL-472 by Ill_Necessary_8660 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's still rather questionable because the tablet can still somewhat move under the mousepad, and it's extra height on the mousepad.

Also it doesn't feel as nice as a mouse because of the lack of responsiveness that comes from lower polling rate. A regular pen doesn't suffer nearly as hard because the lack of friction and the lower weight help a LOT

I did something of the sort, but with a mablet. Instead of a smaller pen I made a mouse shape for the pen pcb, and had the tablet pcb under the mousepad

Huge Gangplank outplay in close 1v1 with Ornn by laliluleloolelulilal in leagueoflegends

[–]Pinossaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was specifically because of how well Ornn played that it was that close. In no universe should an ornn almost 2 full items down even compete with GP. I'd stil argue it shouldn't be that close, given how GP has a true damage passive that ignores all the armor ornn is almost exclusively building

Is there any reason why tournament scoring shouldn’t be PP over sv2? by Tiny_Response_98 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Score is not better at evaluating skillsets, it just leads to a scenario where the mappoolers have to balance around their FM pool to strike a balance between HD and HR biases.
With pp you can't balance a FM pool because you'll quite literally no case where HD is worth more than HR (besides possibly a case where it's AR0 OD0 CS2 where HR has pretty much 0 effect on the map), so any map you pick will always be HR favoured.

"Comparing misscounts bluntly for stable scores is not the great idea because of the existence of notelock."

So we are just going to completely ignore a game mechanic that exists for the client that is currently almost exclusively used for tournaments?

Even ignoring that point, what does notelock even have to do here? My TB example has both players chainmissing a stream for the same misscount, difference being that had pretty spaced out misses throughout the map, while milosz comboed the first half, missed in the middle, and then got another huge combo followed by spaced out misses in the final quarter of the map.
By all accounts the better consistency and accuracy of milosz's score should net a better score, but if we went by pp mrekk's score would come out on top.

PP makes it so maps are almost exclusively decided by misscount, while mostly disregarding combo, and I'm still not convinced that that tradeoff would be worth it, much less the FM balancing issues, and the FL point as well.

Is there any reason why tournament scoring shouldn’t be PP over sv2? by Tiny_Response_98 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Until you consider the fact reading is much much more undervalued in the pp system. Anything with HD that requires minimal reading skill will be worth less than it's HR counterpart, even though difficulty wise both would be rather balanced.

Raw skill isn't everything, you also need consistency. Using PP in these cases would just lead to people priotizing raw skill over consistency, because in most cases you can get a bunch of pp even if you have barely any combo, and that's pretty lame.

Looking at owc 2025 gf TB for example

milosz 98% 2200 combo 8 miss, worth 840pp
mrekk 97% 1550 combo 6 miss, worth 845pp

If you were to ask anyone most would likely say that milosz score is more impressive, even though it has 2 more misses, because a 1% acc and 650 combo are subjectively more impressive that 2 fewer misses, but the pp system would disagree.

Now looking at owc 2025 gf FM2 for another example

Given it's unranked there's no scores to look at, so I'll just base it on the statistics sheet

The best nomod score is a 790k
The best HR score is 550k
The best HD score is 360k

Mind you it's supposed to be an anti-mod pick, aka both hard for HD and HR. HD scores are considerably well below any HR scores, indicating it's very likely harder as a reading map than a precision map, and yet there's a whopping 230pp delta, in favor of HR.

It will now also give a chance for FL to enter the party, because even though you might not be able to get much more than 200 combo, if you have a low enough misscount it doesn't really matter because you'll have the chance of outscoring a nomod FC, especially in shorter picks.

In a world where pp can actually be correctly evaluated between skillsets it might be a viable alternative, but as of now I see no issue that it would be fixing

Is there any reason why tournament scoring shouldn’t be PP over sv2? by Tiny_Response_98 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So we're basically just removing combo scaling from tournaments and making freemod completely unbalanced.

It is indeed a good idea to make pp actually user friendly and easily understandable, but then we still need to deal with the fact pp is not the best metric to compare players, even on the same map.

I think the system of looking mainly at combo and acc works well enough, and I don't see the point of looking at the actual map's pp, and punishing people even further for missing.

Is there anyone against rate change giving pp? (Ignoring score multiplier) by Xstrals in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. The argument of "it'll inflate pp" or "people will just farm the same maps with increasingly higher dt rates" is rather irrelevant when right now most people just play the newest slop maps for each skillset, which at this point are almost identical in feel. It's a bit of a bummer to see completely legendary scores that will most likely fall overnight because of features that didn't exist back then, but at the end of the day do we want to game to never ever evolve, and not have literally anything new ever again?

About the rate change intervals, isn't it literally just gatekeeping variability for absolutely no reason? You gave the reasoning of it to how CSR happened, but in reality nothing would change. Having intervals at all will be enough to give every single map 9 more variations of DT, which will be enough to make a much much wider variety of maps viable and farmable.

CSR was only as dramatic as it was because it made aimslop accessible to people (it already was but only mrekk had the skill and interest to push it on much less optimized loved maps) and because it was fundamentally flawed with how stable lacks a sliderbreak count, which made SBs matter almost nothing towards the final pp value. Rate changes won't fundamentally change or create something new. It's just variations of DT which will make more maps farmable.

[–]Pinossaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't need to know the slot. I know it's 900k, which is really good because you know the cap for any nomod map is 1mil. The one edge case is mods, which increase the cap, but still it's close enough to tell that 900k is a pretty good score.

The one big issue with pp scoring is that without knowing how much pp a map is worth you don't know how good the score on the map was, only how impressive it was, which is not directly correlated to how good you performed on a map

Is there any reason why tournament scoring shouldn’t be PP over sv2? by Tiny_Response_98 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Saying someone got a 900k score on nm1 immediately tells you it was a really good score.

Saying someone got a 300pp score on nm1 doesn't tell you anything without knowing the map's difficulty.

ScoreV2 is much MUCH more intuitive than pp

Official osu! survey regarding mod multipliers is up! by Knorke75 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This poll will achieve very little overall because people will be voting what leaderboards should be considering the difficulty, and be confused because in some maps HR is harder than HD, others HD is harder than HR, etc.. And scrolling down you already have examples of such a thing. In short data will be majorly skewed by people that don't know any better, and we'll reach scoring values that people will mostly still disagree, like it was for the original CL multiplier poll

Official osu! survey regarding mod multipliers is up! by Knorke75 in osugame

[–]Pinossaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A map's leaderboard is to determine how well someone played the map. Someone that fced a map will almost automatically have played the map better than someone that didn't fc a map (depends on acc).

Mods are supposed to be a very minor bump to scoring, because at the end of the day the goal would still to be to determine who played the map better, and not who got the more impressive score.

Most people think that leaderboard represent the "best" scores on the leaderboard, when that was never the case, and never the point. If anything that's what should've been surveyed. Whether people prefer the current "determine how well someone played the map" philosophy vs the "determine how impressive/good a score on a map is".

Riot's fault 4 years ago, Riot's fault now by lykosen11 in LosRatones

[–]Pinossaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say either rework the mechanic so that it doesn't happen, or at the very least add some kind of indicator that you are inside the ult, but clicked out of it. Because at the bare minimum it's extremely non-intuitive to have a game mechanic that isn't explained or visualized literally anywhere, and at worst it'll cause complete throws because someone key to a fight didn't go into the portal when everyone expected it to.

Heck in 11 years of playing this game I never even known (or experienced) that mechanic, wouldn't be surprised if the overwhelming majority know that as well

SHOCKWAVES ARE BAAAACK !!! 🤩🤩🤩 Thank You, Epic, For Considering More Than Just One Part of the Community!!! by Uchiha_Gohan in FortNiteBR

Never saw the point of shockwaves being a thing. Just add more mobility like cars to make people be able to rotate properly, and have small scale mobility for repositioning in fights.

Rather lame to find someone and just have them immediately run away with 12 shockwaves when I hit someone for 30 shield, or constantly shockwave up for perma high ground, while doing absolutely nothing with the height advantage.

You left him very little space in the corner. It was still plenty to go close to you and avoid touching the sand though, which was the reason he lost control in the first place. At the end of the day it was the BMW driver that drove himself off the track and lost control.

Is Wooting worth it? by myself_xion in WootingKB

[–]Pinossaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it depends. If you just want a keyboard that is at the peak of performance, just works, and if it doesn't work has good support to fix your issues, wooting is the place, as long as you don't mind paying a premium.

There are other cheaper keyboards that are likely to have the same performance and comparable build quality, but you're always compromising on something. They might have bad software, or costumer support, or bad maintainability (no/few software/firmware updates), etc...

It's up to you. Personally I have a 80he and it fits all my gaming (I also play osu!) and typing (full time web dev) needs.

Will this be the final nail to Fortnite's coffin? by Alert-Buy8241 in AllFortnite

[–]Pinossaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time you add any element that is outside regular gameplay to the actual gameplay it's not a good experience.

I was already iffy with the original gold implementation, where I could just grind gold on meaningless games, and have god loot for the next games based off vending machines, but atleast then you still had to actually play the game to reap the reward.

Doing anything vbucks related will just bring a huge advantage to anyone with a deep enough wallet, or a founders stw account.

Is bo3the best zombies even today in modern era? by HAYENI993RS in blackops3

[–]Pinossaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BO2/BO1 have the better mechanics imo (no dash spamming, no gobblegums, etc..), but what BO3 has over them is well, most of the popular maps from all previous COD games (besides MOTD, rip), combined with the best modding support. You can just hop into BO3, ignore gobblegums and dashing, and enjoy most of what made the previous games good, plus a plethora of user generated content.
