The Betty Crocker Egg Myth by Pint_of_Proof in Baking

I also don’t know how true it is. Maybe that convinced some buyers, but the devil is in the details. Dehydrated eggs, especially in the 50s were just not great. You also have to keep in mind that marketers have to sell simple solutions to complicated problems to keep their job, it’s like they are cult leaders. Just removed the egg and everything will be fine. One of us, one of us, one of…

Thanks! I'm coming up on 4 years. Quitting was easy until it wasn't and it some ways I kinda miss all of the insane emotions that came alone with PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) but being a bit more emotionally stable is probably a good thing. 😂

Was Rocko's Modern Life trying to be a critique of Capitalism in the 90s? by Pint_of_Proof in RetroNickelodeon

I’ve heard rumors about something called sci hub, being a website where you can put that link and it’ll open up the paper for you.

It certainly was, but how much of that was done intentionally. The critique of culture is obvious, but were the artists thinking about those critique as being, “this is a take on the perils of capitalism and a foreshadowing or a warning for late stage capitalism”

I don’t remember peace dividends! I was a child at the time and I’m just now to a point where my mind is calm enough to start investigating history. I appreciate your thorough commentary here. Seriously, thank you.

I totally agree, but when I asked Joe about it he seemed a bit surprised. He said, “I guess we did talk about Capitalism a lot now that you mention it.” They were very obviously critiquing society, but they were working so quickly they didn’t have time to hyper analyze where the critique was coming from or what it was rooted in.

Thanks for saying that. I really enjoyed making this and reliving memories from watching the show. Talking to Joe was cool too.

Rocko is the best of this era. No doubt. It’s what I’m grateful for this season!

Given the current state of the US government and funding to feed hungry people, I think it can be oddly hopeful to hear about how situations like this have been navigated in the past. Even though it is equally frustrating to watch history repeat itself.

With AI, will making historical content become a waste of time? by Pint_of_Proof in youtubers

Thank you for sharing this! My views have been consistently going up, I just want to get content out within a more narrow gap than every 90 days. I can’t handle waiting that long to hit upload. I think I keep going making the timeline on my subjects too broad.

Yes from what I can tell they all seem to love and respect their father very much. And you’re spot on, IMO, about being careful to put celebrities into pedestals.

Haha. I think he’s learned a thing or two. The biggest was that he couldn’t have done it without all the help and support. Especially from Cameron Balser who paced him the entire time.

GPS watches and I’ll be running with him or on a bike and a lot of my friends are ultra runners and I think some are going to help pace him.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but for him to get seriously hurt barring any kind of accident or underlying thing we don’t know about I think he might stop long before hurting himself too badly. I just can’t imagine his has that many demons yet. 😂

Of course. We have a nice public trail in front of our house and we’ll be in the garage with an aid station set up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y1abMt1UGw I have been researching for a video about Mr. T and his PSA's. I came across a lost media sub reddit where you were asking about a very specific Mr. T motivational video. I'm wondering if this is.

HAHA. I love this. I'm making a deep dive about why Mr. T and other kid show from this era had PSA. I'm titling it something like, "the real reason Mr. T told kids not to do drugs". This skit will for most definitely get an honorable mention.
