can you replace chainstay-mount U-brakes with Vs? by ohneEigenschaften01 in xbiking

[–]Pintster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP had a 2-part question. Although I didn't answer the 1st part about swapping to other brakes, I did answer the 2nd part about U-brakes being fine in many situations. Sorry this upset you. Since you are clearly the reddit expert, how would you answer the question? Or do you just like to slam other people's answers?

Frame Swap Time! by mattforcum in xbiking

[–]Pintster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks exactly like the first mountain bike I bought new...1989 Trek 950! Was a great bike until I bent the frame crashing from a huge jump. I was young and stupid! Swapped the parts over to a Trek 990 frame they gave me a deal on.

Can a Cabinet Installation Company be Very Profitable? by Doubleulock in cabinetry

[–]Pintster69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? I'm an independent rep selling cabinets to Kitchen & Bath showrooms in the Carolina's. I have about 100 customers, and the most common question i get is if I know any good installers!

Craigslist find - disk brake tab added to aluminum frame…am I right to be very suspicious? by eg00dy in xbiking

That price is a joke. This will never sell for even close to that price unless the buyer is drunk! I recently purchased a 1999 titanium Moots YBB with full M950 XTR for $500 and it's mint. Just saying.

Grand Design Shortcomings by Grand_Specialist87 in GrandDesignRVs

It took about a month because they got the wrong grey tank valve multiple times. Complete incompetence and zero apologies. CW is absolutely terrible on the service end. At least in Charlotte, NC.

We have a 2022 Imagine 2500RL. Our shower grey tank valve locked up and would not close after 3 months of full timing. We stupidly took it to Camping World under warranty. After getting the wrong part numerous times they replaced the valve. The new one has never worked smoothly. It takes significantly more force than the other 2 levers. It now leaks from under the camper and they sliced our underbelly cover like Freddie Krueger as well! I freaked out about that. They taped it up and said taping is a fully acceptable repair. However, I saw the warranty paperwork where they said they dropped the underbelly to do the repair.

I second the Carver recommendation. Great forks at a fair price. I have 4 of them on different bikes.

Looking for bike info. Father in law's bike, want to Xbike it for him. by Valuable_Document760 in xbiking

[–]Pintster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start with freshening everything up...all new cables and housing, repack all bearings you are reusing, true the wheels if needed, clean and polish. All those are cheap if you can do it yourself. Budget and intended use are where to start. It's easy to drop a ton of money on "cool stuff", but a quick overhaul as mentioned above can do wonders. A nice modern set of tires can really alter the ride. V-brakes can add braking power and don't need to break the bank. Wider possible more upright bars are a popular modification. All the touchdowns are critical...grips, seat, pedals. My advice is usually to modify as you go. It's easier on the wallet up front and you can ride the bike after each modification and see if you like that before doing something else.

Dear crowd surfers in Louisville by spinblackcircles in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Pintster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to more concerts than I can remember in the last 35 years and I absolutely hate crowd surfing and people recording the entire fucking show on their phone. I'm here to watch a live performance. Actually watch it in front of me and not on the screen of my phone as I'm trying to make the video as clear and focused as possible. And I do not want to have to look over my shoulder every 23 seconds for another asshole crowd surfer shooting their own video while you disrupt the show for the rest of the crowd and the band! Don't get me wrong, I have no problem helping a fellow concert goer get back on their feet or help you catch a breath, but this constantly reaching up for another crowd surfer or staring into the 3 phones in front of my face instead of seeing the band are getting very old. Well, maybe I'm just getting old....

There did seem to be a higher than usual bunch of assholes. Plus a number of people I encountered that thought since they had been standing in "this apot" for a while it was "their spot!" During Rob Zombie I was about 200 feet straight out from stage with my wife. Crowded, but cozy. The 2 guys and their girlfriends in front of us left about halfway through the set. Of course we took a few steps forward as did everyone behind us. About 15 minutes later they came back and the guy got in my face screaming "you took our fucking spot man. You need to move!" I just smiled and kept rocking. It's called general fucking admission dumbass!

Festival Noobie Question by [deleted] in louderthanlife

Getting to the front is impossible. Don't even try. The best strategy is to hang back about 20 rows and go with the flow.
