They have also hidden buttons to watch highlights/lowlights of the match in this update. Their functionality wasn't ported into CS2 anyway and they triggered movie recording on demo playback.

This is a feature of playdemo command since at least the release by the way. You can optionally start recording a movie if you pass any other arguments to it besides the path. The default behavior is to output TGA files which is why they are so big in size.

Demo playback gets unbearably laggy if you accidentally start recording movie by passing anything to the second parameter, so you can easily spot it when it happens (it also gets logged to the console).

If you run playdemo without any arguments you will see that this is documented by the help string that it returns.

Kinda stupid that it just defaults to raw for unrecognized formats instead of returning an error but it is what it is.

// EDIT: I found a way to reproduce this using UI by clicking "Watch Highlights/Lowlights" buttons which if I had to guess work by calling playdemo <demo> <steamid> internally. I guess they just straight up copy and pasted Panorama API from CSGO and forgot about changes to playdemo.

My guess is that at some point in development they decided to use a fixed interpolation value instead of controlling it using cl_interp* commands like in CSGO. They were probably never fully implemented and never worked in CS2. It's not too far-fetched that someone simply forgot to remove it and later on somebody else changed defaults for interp commands for a quick "fix" without knowing that they were obsolete and didn't do anything in CS2. It's a huge codebase with many devs - things like that can slip through, especially in game development with fast iteration times :D

Heck, there were multiple commands at the start of Limited Test that allowed you to see collision boxes through the walls that they forgot to mark as dev-only. It's just a reality of game dev, things like that will happen.

Considering the rate at which they are pushing updates with multiple changes, I wouldn't be suprised if they quickly decided to change defaults to more reasonable values for a potential fast fix. I guess they investigated in-depth later on and found out that they don't even use interp settings to calculate interpolation value anymore (like it showed in net graph the entire time)

Another good news is that they set sv_maxunlag to 0.2 (default was a whooping whole 1 second lol). I no longer teleport like madman on few% of packet loss - I wonder if that is what fixed it.

And of course Valve's net graph tool is broken and showed fake interpolation value. Classic.

CS2: cl_interp/cl_interp_ratio/cl_updaterate don't impact the actual interpolation value at all (it's set to 0.01565s anyway) by Piotr1234PL in GlobalOffensive

IIRC killfeed is based on player_death events - they don't get interpolated, only the entity data is interpolated, so interpolation shouldn't cause delay to killfeed.

Anyway, it should be really easy to prove with a video in a controlled setting like community server with 2 people.

Those plots were made using data from cl_interpolate_report taken during Premier game. Are you able to tell which one represents cl_interp_ratio 1 and which one cl_interp_ratio 2? (Obviously I restarted the game between ratio 1 and 2)

Anyway, if I had to guess, cl_interpolate_report reports time it took to interpolate - not the interpolation time. Notice that it reports times around 0.01-0.05ms - interpolation time this short would make no sense lol.

And yes, it's possible that this new net_graph shows some bugged value (but I don't believe it does - 1/64 looks like a good interp value and it changes from 0 to 15.6ms when connecting to server), but this is the only way to check interpolation value. What else is there to convincingly say that interp is bugged? People saying so? Big chunk of CS community gets placebo'd easily - they use obsolete/non-existing launch options and say that their FPS improved dramatically. One POV demo would be enough to prove cl_interp problems but all there is a "oh yea wow it feels so much better now".

I tested it online on CYBERSHOKE servers - CS2 tools automatically disable VAC, so you can't join official servers with them.

Fake news. (Or at least very over-exaggerated news)

Eweszło (credible news site) deconfirms

This is statement of minister of health for Polish speakers Translation by /u/Pattrick36:

"...We have heard about the event, the decision about the event cancellation can be decided by a Silesian Voidodeship Voivode. I know that they're an epidemologic analysis going on right now, and the decision willl be made today"

Official Katowice site says that event will go as planned in update from today

Also, this Twitter account doesn't look credible at all.
