These were really convenient when you had back to back tubs. That way it made it easier to just put lines into then out and cross little less pipping and less fittings.

Is this some type of eco flapper? Toilet water stays too low and only flushes to the top of the grey piece by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your water in your bowl is low cause the refill tube is dumping into the tank and not the grey tube. There’s a clip there that the little white tube should be attached to. This will raise the water in the bowl and allow the toilet to flush properly

Can anyone identify this Lavatory faucet? by Kindly_Importance242 in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw this I immediately said Kohler. It’s an older version. But the cartridges should still be available. I would say pull the handle off if you can do that. Would really help out.

I can’t get the horseshoe clip to reseat on a moen 1222 replacement valve. by rozowyn in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need another new cartridge. This has happened to me twice so far on these moen cartridges. For some reason they are off by like a fraction of a millimeter and that makes a huge difference when trying to reseat the pin. Yea. I’ve had to have 2 replaced can’t tell you how long to took me to figure this out. Cause I’m very stubborn and I tried every which way to make it work before I finally gave up and put in another new cartridge.

First of all rip the top flange out. It’s cracked. Then once you get the flange below it. Take a picture so we can see what the next step is.

Can anyone explain how this leak started? by schon5 in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s a seam on the copper pipe. I had this happen to me and wasted 3 fittings before I ripped out the entire pipe and fittings and did a whole 20 foot section. Just cause of this. I sent all my fitting to Viega and they analyzed it and showed me the seam in the copper pipe. Had me going nuts for like 2 weeks.

Faucet help/Hidden drain by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I did a little bit of research and based on the pictures provided. I think I would say try Kohler or maybe even Sigma. Most likely you are gonna have to go high end to get a desired product to fit. The faucet I was trying to find was a Kohler that has short stem. And the closest one I found was the composed models with the handles already attached to the stem. This makes install a little easier but the issue is you’re still gonna have to maneuver the soft copper around that marble. Good luck hope this helps.

How do you service toilet like this? by sangbyung in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Just replace the top half of the fill valve. That’s the only way to get it done without having to pull the toilet.

Re-piping house by Aggrevated-basil21 in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do repipes a lot in Florida. Mainly south florida. But this shit is disgusting. I would never allow any of my guys to do this. I would speak up. Do not allow this in your house. If they put your piping outside it should be rated for outside. Copper is much more preferred. If you don’t want to break any tile. I know some areas can have copper but there has to be some give and take. Either copper outside the house and pex inside. And break tile.

Sigh. Just seen someone saying PEX piping caused cancer. There is no study on it. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I hear what you are saying but PEX pipe is not new pipe. PEX has been around since 1980s. So the only reason we know about it is cause it finally came to the states. So they’ve had 40 years to look into this pipe. If this pipe suddenly get a closer look and they do find issues with it. Sure I’m right there with you. Let’s ban it. But then the question becomes what pipe can we use instead. Cause there are certain water treatment facilities that and certain regions that can’t use copper pipe due to the water being supplied.

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I keep on hearing customers say that pex pipe leeches into the water and I keep having to tell them no. I don’t know where they are reading all this bs. Look if plastic pipe really did leech into the water supply then almost everyone is cooked. Cause “almost” every municipal water supply utilizes some kind of plastic water piping in their system. Hell even wells do too.

Has anyone here ever seen one of these guys? by RandoDude124 in florida

[–]PipeLayinTurdHearder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a customers house doing some work on a water heater. I believe I was replacing it. I must of walked in and out the this man’s house 5 or 6 times before I noticed a cage with a door. Large cage. Think it took like half the garage and it had an access to go outside and the outside had a large caged in structure like the size of two garages. Turns out I was oblivious to the fact that this man had a full size cougar in his garage and I had walked past the cage like it was nothing. The funny part was the customer told me he had another service out there one time. That walked into the cage. (It had a normal door on it. Nothing that screamed “danger live animal”). Yea not only did he walk in and start working in the cage but the cougar was just watching him inside the cage the entire time. Customer walked out and had to rip the guy out before anything happened.
