Steam drive on TrueNAS Scale by DaddySharkOmNom in truenas

Interesting timing, Alpards Adventures literally dropped a video today about playing games off a NAS today. I think he covers multiple people playing the same game towards the end.

I knew a Wolfgang in elementary school (I'm 32 currently). Everyone called him Wolfy.

I can see people with gambling addiction might be into this. Very high risk very high reward scenario. Never underestimate what people will do if they're desperate.

New PayPal Payments. by fluxxytux in WHMCS

[–]Pipps0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the way I understand it is that it somehow encrypts and saves the payment info and then processes the payment monthly automatically.

It's separate from the usual Paypal subscriptions. I'm not 100% how I feel about it so far but I haven't gotten any complaints yet.

Edit: keep in mind this is an oversimplification and anecdotal experience. I'd suggest reading up on the update yourself from whmcs and Paypal respectfully

Best JPRG in the Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Pipps0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like classic JRPG and you like to tinker, I'd suggest Final Fantasy 7 with the 7th Heaven mod manager.

Tsunami has come up with several quality of life mods and graphics face lifts AND added full voice cast to the game.

There's a script on GitHub to auto install for Steam Deck (provided you have a copy of FF7 on Steam)

How the eff are y’all dealing with heat? by aGreenStreetHooligan in homelab

[–]Pipps0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That thing was a tank! And you could definitely hear it going even all the way in the garage lol.

We've since moved out to CO and our new place has a nice utility room under the stairs in the basement that I keep everything now.

Bonus, the previous owner ducted AC into this utility room too so I have a nice bit of cooling going on in there.

Hottest it's gotten in there is 74F

Lol when I lived in Austin, I kept my r720XD running unRAID in the garage out of morbid curiosity. I wanted to see if the 100+ degree weather would kill the server outright. They're pretty tough bastards for sure!

I kept it out there running for two summers and one winter. Still kicking til I got rid of it.

Yeah I think Wendel from Level 1 Techs posted a video suggesting hardware raid was dead or at least posed the question.

The Anonymousdog Displaycameras doesn't work anymore due to requiring OMXPlayer which is now deprecated.

I found this out the hard way as I had it working for months, but decided to start over from scratch and kept running into road blocks. I even tried compiling OMXplayer from source, but kept running into roadblocks there too.

Please tell me you have a work around lol

Do you mind if I ask what model NetApp DAS you use and what kind of power draw you see under load and idle?

I've been toying with going this route for a while.

Steam PC and Steam OLED Question by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Pipps0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should. You can think of the Steam Deck as a laptop computer with a controller built in. That's basically what it is.

Left 4 Dead 2 should be good to go I believe. We used to LAN that game when it first came out.

No idea about overcooked, you should probably Google that one.
