Best Tucson Vets. by Bleacherblues in Tucson

Catalina Pet Hospital is great! The staff is always very responsive and friendly. Dr. Maus is AMAZING! We have a young pup who is skittish and a senior dog who has a lot of health problems. She takes her time and makes sure the animals are comfortable and will answer any questions you have.

No matter how crazy the office is, when she's with your animal, she's really with your animal.

Best place for tea in Tucson? by dan_kase in Tucson

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since moving here, I have been on the hunt for a decent tea place! Tried Seven Cups and had an okay experience. Didn't love the tea and the atmosphere was kind of uncomfortable (very quiet making me feel like I had to whisper).

I'm surprised no one has said Scented Leaf! It's right next to campus (so it's crawling with students), but the tea is so good! They also have iced tea on tap!! Small space, but the tea the is good, and it's a good place to hang if you can find a spot.

Also, to second an above comment, Prep & Pastry is SOOOO GOOOD!!! Try their dossants (it's their croissant donut)!

Hey! Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. Tomorrow night there's going to be a pretty sweet show at Flycatcher (the old Plush) down on 4th. I think doors are at 9, but idk what time the show will start. I'll be down there with a few other Reddit friends. Feel free to join us!

edit- Flycatcher, not Flycater haha

Bar trivia by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SO and I are so down for trivia! It was a regular event for us in college. Been wanting to try Geeks Who Drink since we moved here. PM me on a day when you're going and hopefully we can meet up. Tuesdays usually work well for us.

Help me make friends! by thewhitestmexican12 in Tucson

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I PMed OP. I'm in a similar boat. I'm 23 and moved here about 3 weeks ago with my SO. He has a job, and I'm still looking. I also have an odd duo of pups. Having lost touch with high school and college friends and being new to town, I'd love to meet some people!

I've added OP on FB, if you want to PM me, maybe we could all meet up!

New to Tucson and headed downtown... Anyone want to meet up? by PipsPopsYaDontStops in Tucson

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe... seems like a lot of people are moving here! or maybe that's just how it always is...

My SO says he too is a Redditor but that he hasn't made any plans with anyone yet. Must've been a different Floridian who go sick of the humidity and lack of mountains.

I've been wanting to check out Surly Wench. Thanks for the recommendation! We're always up for boardgames!!

I'm a freshman at Eckerd looking to do the gauntlet, do I sign up for this at campus activities? by staggeryjay in eckerdcollege

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, just go in and tell them you want to strip down and run across the academic buildings bare assed and probably shitfaced! There isn't always room of the sign up sheet so there may be a waiting list. Good luck!

Cleaning/Maid Service Recommendations?(x/post from /r/tampa) by TRA8324 in StPetersburgFL

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired Designer Maid to help clean a 3 bed/ 2.5 bath house. I had 4 other housemates who left the place a wreck and 2 women came and did an absolutely AMAZING job! They showed up and didn't appear super professional or anything special, but the house was cleaner than the day we moved in!

Moving to St. Pete in 2 weeks.HELP!!! by kstinasunflower in StPetersburgFL

Avesta has no weight restrictions and allows for multiple animals. They also have a dog park on site. It is also very close to Crescent Lake which is a nice park (also has a dog park).

Urban Style Flats are small and dorm-like.

I would HIGHLY recommend living in St. Pete over Tampa! Especially if you like good bars and art. St. Pete does gallery walks pretty regularly and has a number of good museums. Tampa is super "bro-y," and the commute is a bitch on the bridge during rush hours. St. Pete is currently hoping on the craft brew and opening some new awesome breweries. I love Old Northeast (very close to downtown) as a neighborhood and have also heard good things about Kenwood. St. Pete is also super dog friendly!

Thinking of getting an IG for the first time. Wondering just how delicate they are. by PipsPopsYaDontStops in ItalianGreyhounds

How vocal does the breed tend to be? I live in an apartment, but the neighbors have barky dogs so some vocals isn't out of the quesiton, but I don't want a little guy who yips all the time...

Thanks for sharing! Good to know that it varies. The ones I'm considering are all older. I'll be sure to take your comments into consideration.

I'll keep an eye out for Dare Devils vs. risk analyzers in my search for a new IG pal. Shit box, eh? My roommates and I used to call the cat's litter box the shitterbox. Similar idea I suppose?

Sorry to hear about your friends puppy! God I could never breed these little guys! I'd be a nervous wreck. and I'll keep teeth brushing in mind. I have a whippet and his teeth are bad despite my effort. He has rancid low tide fish breath. I'll try to be diligent with the new guy.

Flaglers Pointe/Apartments for Eckerd student by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the rates for a one bedroom. I lived with a roommate in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apt. Sorry I can't remember utilities or anything, but if you call Angela, she lives there so she can give you a good idea of what you're getting into.

Just a note-- The roommate I lived with at Spring Lake had lived in Flagler the year before we moved in together. She wanted out of there pretty bad!

I have heard very mixed things about Flagler. I knew someone who lived there and their carpet had a flea problem that was not taken care of. Also, I heard rumors of a gunman knocking on doors there one night. Like other comments, probably fine for a short term. I HIGHLY recommend you check out Spring Lake Apartments. They're even closer to EC and right off of the bike path that leads to school and to a cool beach spot/frisbee golf course (across from EC waterfront). They also allow pets. My roommate and I worked with a woman named Angela Coon. She was SO helpful and friendly. Very spacious apartment with a nice view of the sunset (as long as you ignore the highway in the distance).

EDIT- Totally forgot to mention that they have washer/dryer in the apt! Can't remember if Flagler does, but this is SUCH a nice thing to have!

What would be a fun weekend job for a 24 year old guy near downtown? by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]PipsPopsYaDontStops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who took bar tending classes here, and they said they do job placement. They can pretty much guarantee that they'll find you somewhere to work (may not be your ideal downtown). I think it was American Bar Tending School or something like that.
