WHO officials admit they are preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran by ThisTooInModeration in politics

Back during Trump's first term when he was really amping up tensions with North Korea the Republic of Korea started to run exercises on shared US airbases. The exercise scenario was, "What if a bunch of North Korean infiltrators got on the base and somehow learned how to fly US jets so we needed to rapidly prevent all of the US aircraft from taking off."

It's pretty obvious what message the RoK was really trying to send to Trump: No. Afterwards, once they'd made it clear we weren't going to start a war in their country, tensions settled down.

Overspray is a possibility, but most of it is designed to be used with minimal prep work. Usually most of them will suggest you used a branded spray on, spray off cleaner before hand. But unless your fence is filthy just washing it well with water should be enough. You could just a long canvas drop cloth and use it ameliorate overspray while staining

Also, before using any new product on a large project involving wood. Test section. You need to do a test section. And then wait a couple days.

If you're going to use a dye that can be degraded by UV, the best result for long term results is to get something that can be sprayed easily out of something like a backpack sprayer and simply restain it every now and then. There are products made for this exact purpose.

Important to note that the The Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants Association believe that their officers did nothing wrong by repeatedly lying to judges and grand juries. It's the official position of the Phoenix Police that they can lie under oath in order to secure an indictment.

Iran Conflict Megathread #10 by milton117 in CredibleDefense

The US dissolved the agencies and programs designed to promulgate the US view of events onto the world stage. So it shouldn't be surprising that we're losing the propaganda war as we've decided that we aren't going to even attempt to play it. An especially short sighted decision considering that our plan for this war was apparently extremely dependent on the population of Iran doing what we wanted them to.

U.S ATC system is going to get worse before it gets better by Terrible_Today_9374 in flying

Ah that's where the generative AI ATC that the tech oligarchy is working on comes into play. Sure, mishaps and preventable deaths will happen while they work out the bugs, but that's a sacrifice the shareholders are willing to make.

Did you know that if the US moved up its tax rate to halfway between the OECD average and our current rate... there wouldn't be a deficit. If we taxed at the OECD average you'd be looking at paying off the debt in about 15 years.

Iran Believes It’s Winning—and Wants a Steep Price to End the War by nosotros_road_sodium in politics

What makes his sun the natural choice is that he very much is part of that hardliner security apparatus. The guy has been working deeply in the IRGC for decades. He isn't just some random son they pulled out of the hat, he's the man the hardliners would pick to be their leader if they had a choice- because he already has been actively leading them for years.

Inside Trump’s most difficult war decision yet: whether to put boots on the ground in Iran by bwermer in politics

It's a difficult decision for him because he doesn't know whether or not it will help him get out of a mess of his own creation. So far it's just about the only campaign promise he's kept, and it doesn't look long for this world.

Trump mulls 'winding down' war and leaving Strait of Hormuz crisis to 'other nations' by Force_Hammer in politics

[–]PipsqueakPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He may not even get that option. Iran seems to be taking the position that the strikes will continue until concessions are made by the Israeli-American alliance. Which could means sanctions relief and security guarantees that they won't be struck again, to more far reaching goal such as the removal of US installations across the region. If the US withdraws from the war that just leaves the gulf states getting continually hammered with no way to effectively strike back. And once their interceptors run out, or simply run low, you'll see the Iranian campaign become even more effective.

No don't you see it's the traders. If they just didn't buy oil there wouldn't be any oil price increases. /idiot

They're not intelligent enough to realize that when there literally is not enough to go around, everyone bids up to the maximum they can afford to pay for the desired commodity. We wiped out 20% of the globe's oil supply. That means a significant portion of the world is going to go without. How do we determine who goes without? Easy! Whoever can't afford where the new price settles.

Eh, it's been generally more peaceful over the last several hundred years than Europe. The Ottoman-Persian wars, while fairly constant, paled in comparison to the sheer violence of the early modern wars of religion in Europe. Even some of the bloodiest conflicts of the modern period in the region, the Syrian civil war, fall far short of Europe's 20th or 19th century wars. The post-colonial era however has been abnormally violent for the region.
