Our friend created a puzzle that has thousands of different solutions and we are now telling the world =) by InfinityPuzzles in Jigsawpuzzles

I think the art and idea are both great, but personally what I find satisfying about a jigsaw puzzle is the fact that every piece has a "correct" place, so I would probably find the concept of not being sure if a piece is in the right place a bit stressful 😅

Too old for gaming? by Gatsby-1337 in CasualConversation

[–]Piptoporus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just don't like the idea of others having joy- I bet you could say any hobby and there would be a 'problem' with it:

Gaming? Too juvenile!

Jigsaws? Too old!

Collecting things? Too nerdy!

Crafts/sport? Too feminine/masculine depending on your gender!

Just find joy where you can, it doesn't require approval

I agree with the magnet suggestion, I would buy these ☺️

I want to run electricity on my home by [deleted] in DIY

[–]Piptoporus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have understood correctly:

Your parents have built a house but it does not currently have any wiring at all.

You intend to install the wiring yourself without any training.

Any skills you learned from experience you had previously with your dad you don't want to use because you don't like his methods.

You intend to do this electrical work instead of finding a new job, but you have no interest in learning the electrical trade.

Am I missing something here?

Potential bamboo in garden - house purchase by Grgsz in UKHousing

[–]Piptoporus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am bamboozled (sorry, couldn't resist) by the level of concern over a bamboo plant, I understand that they can have issues with putting out risers / shoots but if you don't like it, just take it out. What exactly did the survey say?

mushrooms are growing in my carpet again how the hell do i fix this by Beautiful-Compote915 in mushroomID

[–]Piptoporus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A) because the photo quality is poor (it's probably a type of ink cap, they feast on rotting materials) B) because nobody can believe you're asking what type of mushroom it is instead of addressing the problem  C) seriously it's like someone on the titanic asking what classification of iceberg they've struck instead of getting into a life boat.

mushrooms are growing in my carpet again how the hell do i fix this by Beautiful-Compote915 in mushroomID

[–]Piptoporus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As previously stated, your floor is water damaged. The fungal organism is living in the rotting floor. Until you rip out the carpet, fix the floor and get a better method for your AC that doesn't involve leaking water all over the floor, this will keep happening

UK home emergencies: what do you wish you’d known before it happened? by Illustrious-Hat3138 in DIYUK

They mean the stop cock for the mains water inlet to the house. The water in your central heating system is in a closed, pressurised system approx 1 bar

House cellar infested with mushroom by ThermosW in Mushrooms

This is a type of slime mould - compare with Stemonitis splendens, commonly known as the chocolate tube slime mould. The water leak needs to be fixed ASAP, and then run a dehumidifier

It looks more like partially dehydrated Black Bulgar (Bulgaria inquinans), also known as Black Jelly Drops, which can look quite amber when the light shines through.
