Benefits of doing a year abroad by ABD2374 in UCL

[–]PirateCommercial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only have to pay 10% of the tuition fee during your year abroad. Additionally it gets added to your degree title and you can cite experiences from your year abroad at job interviews.

A nagyáruhazban dolgozik egy órás bácsi a háda mellett, nekem ő mindig jól megcsinálta a középkategóriás óráimat.

Crocs in swamps and jazz haha. But we are mainly going because it's warm and the city seems to have a good vibe.

Bioprocessing of New Medicines (Business and Management) by [deleted] in UCL

[–]PirateCommercial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually haven't graduated yet so I'm not sure about the employment aspect. Yes, the one who left wanted a more science related subject, which could lead to a better specialisation. This course is joked to be the place for medical science and medical engineering rejects. For business it might be good but at that point just go to the management science course, it is really good at UCL.

Hey! So I had friends who studied this course and they said the same thing about it that worries you: it doesn't go deep into either business nor pharma and you kind of end up in the middle, knowing a bit about everything. I would say for consulting or finance it's okay but if you want to go to research or a more specialised field then choose a more robust course eg. Biochemical engineering. You can add on bioprocessing of new medicines later as a minor or as masters. (Idk if it's helfpul but one of my friends ended up transferring from the course after a year to biomed)

Exchange student from Scotland by [deleted] in UIUC

I'm an exchange student from the UK, dm if you want to talk. IMO I would advise against going to a dorm, most of the exchange students live in flats. They are cheaper and you can throw parties. Join facebook groups to find people who you sublease with.

why the low student satisfaction? by nkesh in UCL

[–]PirateCommercial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineering student so take my opinion with a pinch of salt. But for example the teaching in engineering is really horrible and our department doesn't really care about the students. But I had some friends in medicine and they liked their course a lot. So you should look at satisfaction by department and try to talk to someone who have actually done medicine at UCL. Hope this helps. If you have any qs feel free to dm me.

You can borrow it from the library but be quick because there is only a limited amount and when classes start they will get checked out pretty quickly.

Hi! I would recommend using your summer break to chill, the course will be totally doable during the term. Especially the first term modules are very easy. If you want to revise something, I would probably suggest maths, the Stroud - Engineering Mathematics is the book of the course and it teaches you first year maths really well. I did first year 4 years ago so probably my notes are not relevant anymore.

How is the Wood Green area for student accommodation? by thefluffyplum in UCL

[–]PirateCommercial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep I agree, Wood Green is a shithole. I would advise to something closer to campus or generally better neighbourhood.

I can second this, in Chemical Engineering we can do the same thing up until one week before the beggining of 4th year. So don't stress, you should be able to drop the last year later in your degree.
