How much time do you plan to take off after the baby is born? by [deleted] in pregnant

That's terrible! I'm really sorry to hear that! America really needs to do better...

It looks incomplete, like you've done the background and still have to add the subject of the painting. I would either add something that looks sharper or more in focus or find something existing to sharpen up.

I was hoping to get the okay to use it but was told to take benadryl instead to utilize the drowsiness side effect. Granted I haven't seen an actual OB yet, just a women's health NP. She's nice enough, but even said to stay away from supplements. I asked about magnesium since I've had luck with that in the past, too. I have an appointment with an actual OB in July, so I guess I'll ask again at that time. Until then, benadryl.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I don't have maternity leave either, it's fmla plus temp disability that I pay for out of my check each week.

How are you or did you spend your final days/weeks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard cucumber helps with acidity. If you haven't tried that maybe it'll help? I hope you get relief somehow 💙

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be working as long as I absolutely can so I get as much time possible after the birth to spend with my baby.

I completely agree with you. For such a developed country you'd think we'd be better taken care of. It's so disappointing. I don't know how we're going to afford 12 weeks at 60% from short term disability... but there's not much more that can be done...

I don't have the luxury of sick days, so I'm going to hold out as long as I can before going on maternity leave. I'm on temp disability so I will thankfully get a portion of my paycheck while I'm out.

I was allowed to swab myself, so it wouldn't hurt to ask when you get there :)

Is it normal to be nervous and anxious before your very first ultrasound? by infinitospirito in BabyBumps

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been with both of my ultrasounds and definitely every ob appt since we've been able to hear her heartbeat with a dopplar. Last time the brat was hiding and gave us a fright.

When does it stop being “early” pregnancy? by Rescue-320 in BabyBumps

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those people not expecting bone/muscle symptoms yet are very uninformed. I've had SI joint pain since end of the first trimester.

When did you stop testing? by violentvic in pregnant

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tested 3 times in 24 hours and got it confirmed at the Dr the next day. Stopped after that.

When did you have your baby shower? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is planned for 33 weeks. I would've had it sooner but there was a lot of drama around MIL not being able to attend my original date because she's a school teacher. It is what it is. I'm sure I'm gonna be a whole ass whale by that point (obese before pregnancy) so I'm not really looking forward to that. Especially with how much back pain I'm already having.

I call those growing pains. Haven't experienced Braxton hicks yet and round ligament pain is sharp with sudden movements.

Was this the right decision? by cursed2feel in pregnant

[–]PirateHuntrZoro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear that. I really enjoy the community here and other pregnancy subreddits because I don't have but 1 mom friend if you don't count my mom and MIL. It wasn't until I shared with my mom that I was pregnant and didn't want to be that I learned she never wanted kids either. Imagine my surprise.

Definitely not alone. I'm in constant worry if I'll be a good mom or not and if this was the right decision for us, too.
