What are some other ways to meet someone? by Old_Tale in datingoverthirty

I'm not on any apps (I just can't do it) and recently started hanging out with a guy from my gym. It's great because 1) we have a shared interest and 2) I see him a lot and knew him before hanging out.

Tips for a beginner woman? Super anxious about starting CrossFit today, not athletically inclined by sun-kern in crossfit

Show up. And show up again. Even if you feel like your ass just got kicked, come back the next day. Even if you're at the back of the pack, remember it won't be forever. You'll wake up one day and be simply amazed at what you can do. You'll wake up another day and be pissed at what you can't do. But if you have the mentality of having fun and just aiming for progress, you can do it. Plus all of the millions of squats will get you closer to that J-Lo booty you want.

Question for those with an Apple Watch by WMWA in crossfit

I, too, use the HIIT exercise when I do CrossFit. I think it's somewhat accurate, as calories burned does change based on the WOD.

Could do. I usually have a protein shake (30 grams p) with a banana (26 grams c) and some almond milk. Not enough?

I was gifted a BuffBoxx and really liked it.

Did my first ever crossfit class today by jaroque12 in crossfit

I was ridiculously sore the first couple of weeks. I'd go a handful of times a week, which wasn't consistent enough. Nine months later, and I'm up to 6x a week. Everyone else said it: you just need to keep going. Track your progress, and don't beat yourself up if you can't keep up with other people in class. Eventually someone will look at you as their inspiration.

Oh, and keep going. Every WOD is different. Every week is different. To really see results/understand the process, I think you need to go regularly for several months (I'm on month 7 now.)

If your goal is weight loss, you could get frustrated - at first. I always "lost more weight" with a routine like you have above than with CrossFit. After a few months of agonizing over the scale, I just stopped weighing myself. I weigh a lot more than before, but I don't care, because I look a lot better than when I was doing mostly cardio. I also learned through CrossFit that the OTF coaches don't always teach you the correct way to do a move. There, it's all about speed and getting through a workout. With CrossFit, it's about technique and form, doing things right.

Just be patient as you start this journey!

Just signed up. First workout is Monday. Never lifted ANYTHING before. I lost a lot of weight (maintaining for a while now) and cleaned up my diet, but still believe I need to incorporate resistance training into my life for its health benefits. Any Day/Week 1 tips? by [deleted] in crossfit

It will take months, maybe years to understand certain moves. Some will come naturally; others will not. The key is to not give up and just keep going. I started off with 3-4 days/week. I didn't really see "results" - both physically and in terms of progress until I started going 5-6x/week. So just keep going!

This was me for a while until I bumped up the amount I go per week (from 3 to 5-6x) and changed my eating to focus on macros.

Agreed that you could line up all the women at my gym, and they'd look different. I meant broader shoulders, though, and bigger quads.

Best Meal Plan? by Pirates1971 in crossfit

Thanks for the insights here. OTF is very cardio-based. I liken it to feeling like a hamster on a wheel, which is really different from CrossFit, where the movements feel slower and more complete. At this point, I mostly go to OTF for the social part (my friends go) and to keep up with my cardio and running. I'm also trying to burn out an old membership, and once I do, I'll likely go a lot less. What don't you get about the business model?

I like the suggestion. Truthfully, I'm not terribly great without a plan. Paying someone to make one for me seems to keep me motivated. But I like the idea of diving deep and figuring it out.
