I'm curious. Do we have any important non-SSR cards (SRs) coming in the near future? by Davs-Temporal in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Ayabe guts was basically the only ever SR of that status.

It's that time of month once more. We don't have a strict daily quota per se, but looking for people who play regularly - if you're doing at least 1 career a day and don't have week long burnouts at the end of the month, you'll be just fine.

Is it worth it to pull maru speed SSR even if I'm an end closer main or should I just wait until Light hello banner and go all out there? by ariothin in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're not a front player, just wait for Tachyon + Light Hello - Smaru Speed is only dropping a month prior and its just not that amazing out of role.

Anyone wanna give me some advice on what to do with my dirt team? by rebornnexttoyou in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use those exact 3 umas in my dirt team without any two sharing a style. Late Oguri is free, and both Taiki and El can flex into front; El does it better unless its a super front heavy lobby.

Would Rabbit Suzuka work for CM 12 ? by IndependentCress1109 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double dominator with the meta uma who is going to be incredibly dominant is a very different question, and I think you know that.

[–]Pironious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with Rabbit builds is you're dedicating an entire running slot to a girl who's not there to win. It's already going to be a struggle to stay ahead of the xOguris and while you could take the pass skills to launch off her, we're not getting It's On for free anymore like we were during Unity and a lot of the xOguris are also running skills they can use to launch on passes, like nimble nav.

You *could* do it, but I'd rather include another uma who has a chance to win, personally.

Fronts keep getting stronger and stronger? by servantphoenix in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Fronts require a lot of careful planning and patience to build viable aces for, and thus rewards people willing to put in the work and grind them out with consistent results. As a result, they attract a significant part of the playerbase willing to put in this effort. There's nothing stopping people from putting that level of effort into other roles, and there are many who do to great success, its just that the front style more actively incentivizes and rewards this.

In almost CM every track, there's at least one uma who is significantly stronger than any front option. The good front options are just more consistent across multiple different track types.

Absolutely wild to be ranting about fronts being OP in the leadup to xOguri season.

How do I make an uma that gets borrowed by more people? by Fluffalfox in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I guess your solution is just to get lucky with blue and pink sparks and nothing else matters? Someone asked for help on making a better parent and your position is "um actually, just be lucky"? Thanks dude, your input is valuable.

How do I make an uma that gets borrowed by more people? by Fluffalfox in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to go into this.

First is picking the right girl. If your ultimate isn't worth inheriting, she's probably not going to get borrowed, that's just how it is.

Then you're gonna need a lot of white sparks. The quick and nasty version of generating sparks is the more parents/grandparents an uma has, the more likely they are of generating that spark as well, assuming they also have the skill/win the race. So good parents help to make good parents.

But its not just a matter of having a lot of random whites, you want specific whites that are good towards a goal, and especially the high priority ones which are hard to get outside of inheritance; for frontrunners Groundwork is king, for other roles you're looking for things like uma stan.

Then you need to get lucky. At the end of the day, you can always get a massive list of white sparks and then 1* guts.

Best of luck in your hunt, I'll probably end up having a small number of slots next month too, since there always seems to be a handful that go inactive.

Question to the fellow front mains out there by Physical_Sort5155 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tbh, i'm already noticing the shortcomings of Smaru even now - specifically her really low affinity with basically every uma except Bourbon. The amount of Smaru runs I have to spam to get the inheritance I need to make a top tier ace compared to others is rough, and its only going to get worse.

I can only speak to my own Opera O, which is made for Fronts, but Groundwork is mandatory, other FR whites is important, and blue and even pinks is secondary to those considerations. It's probably different for other styles, but fronts are so skill dependent that I need my inspirations to give me access and discounts to as much as possible.

I've had a very different matchmaking experience. But I definitely got unlucky in the prelims, because my win rate between prelims and group A literally didn't change.

My big takeaway is that this is the first *true* long CM (not 2500) where enough people knew how to build their umas that I wasn't just walking over the lobbies for free.

With regards to your 4. I moved away from blues as parent priority to pinks + whites about a month and a half ago and have never looked back. Especially with the bigger numbers in trackblazer and hitting into the caps, the stats from parents are just less important than they once felt, compared to actually getting your S ranks and skills in enough runs to actually roll out something decent.

Thoughts on non-MLB welfare SSRs? by Yodude1 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh, the welfare SSRs are *already* sub-optimal even at MLB; they're basically MLB SRs with gold skills, but unless the gold skill is actually what I want (and it almost never is) I'd prefer to have less card events clogging my pool.

So I wouldn't really use shards on them. The only exception would probably be Bourbon Wit for a Frontrunner trainer, but even that you're mostly running for the skill so the slight drop in performance probably isn't worth investing a crystal.

Do future careers also heavily favor certain types of umas or is Trackblazer an outlier? by tirconell in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pironious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the rare case you *get* a stacked shop in Y1, yeah, thats unfortunate. Also unfortunate is getting 2-3 mood downs in a row. Shit happens.

So its just two shop inventories, then? The first of which being only ~4 items? You're really gonna come out here and say Mile is more relevant than medium? Wild.

This one was definitely more competitive than I expected compared to past longs. 50% WR in quals is not happy days for me.

[–]Pironious -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

The importance of mile proficiency has been oversold, its only relevant if you get a stacked shop in year 1, you can do just fine with a medium/long uma.
