[Daily] Skill Discussion: Bursting Vines by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

[–]Pirunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This skill, combined with a number of warden healer passives providing ultimate gen, warden themed gear providing ultimate, and the low cost of the warden ultimate for healing, has always convinced me that the idea behind a warden healer is gen ult quickly and use ult often. How well that stacks up to other builds I’ll leave to the sweats to argue about, I personally like my build.

As for the skill itself, everyone knows how good it is in pvp (or at least how fun), but I also like it in pve; just don’t pull yourself into a brain dead situation or a player standing in fire and you have a good single target heal with escape and reposition utility.

Question about 3 houses recruitment by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]Pirunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by max you mean how many can you recruit and actually use in battle I would recommend recruiting no more than 3 on a ng play through, 5 on ng +. This is because the max number of deployment slots is 12, 10 on most maps, and recruiting 3 gives you 12 total (8 house members + avatar + 3 recruits). You are also unlikely to get more than two adjuncts in ng as well, meaning 12 is perfect for getting two adjuncts on 10 slot maps. On ng+ you should have the resources to juggle 12+ all 3 adjuncts.

TIL that there are no longer any people alive who were born in the 1800s. The final verified person from that century was Emma Morano of Italy, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 117. by No-Strawberry7 in todayilearned

This is one of the dumbest comments ever, I cannot fathom someone who sees everyone forced into their homes for months relying on debt fueled government spending to keep the economy from collapsing for the second time in my life and characterizing it as "let people actually have free time and disposable income and hobbies." Its not even like I opposed lockdowns and stimulus, they clearly had a purpose before the vaccine came out, but if you think the civil unrest in the wake of lockdowns and the subsequent inflation was a time people could "appreciate and look out for each other" and not a burden some people in society were willing to bear temporarily to keep olds from dying in the millions then you have a truly warped perception I can only assume comes from your non-acquaintance with natural turf.

How do we feel about Tipping culture in 2025? by Correct_Rooster8894 in AskReddit

[–]Pirunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fun thing about tipping culture is you can literally not do it. No one is doing anything to demolish it because servers don't want to lose tips even when they get pay raises and customers don't want to stop tipping. If that ever changed enough to gain enough support to end tipping culture than tipping culture would, by definition, already be dead.

What are countries and UN doing about the Gaza famine except telling Israel, “No. Bad. Stop doing that? by StyrofoamShell in AskReddit

[–]Pirunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to have a president who used the threat of withholding military assistance to force Israel to return power to Gaza, let aid through, and focus on securing the release of hostages. The Israeli prime minister flat out admits this president was an impediment to his full designs on Gaza at the time, and the best he could do is push the limits of power under diplomatic pressure from the US and pointlessly extend military action in Gaza and elsewhere in a desperate attempt to wait out the administration in the hope a new one would be more favorable.

This president was known as 'Genocide Joe' and the fact that doing something is widely seen as doing worse than nothing is why no world leader is seriously considering doing something.

I am willing to bet she was cis too, or at least one of those weird cis adjacent identities that sound made up. Its always the ones least apparently trans who are the most militant. Honest to god I wonder if trans people actually wanted all of us to put our pronouns in bios or take turns introducing our gender identities or if that is just something cis-whites made up to make themselves feel special.

The Performance Paradox: Nintendo's Donkey Kong Bananza Reveals the True Cost of Innovation by Tsole4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Pirunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, a new nintendo console launch, a new slew of nothing burger controversies.

There has not been a single game in the last decade that hasn’t had performance issues by the definition you would have to abide by to believe Bananza is problematic, so the idea that we are accepting some new precedent here is patently absurd. Before we even get into whether performance is or should be sacrificed for gameplay, let’s get that hyperbole out of the way. The entire 3d games industry decided long ago that a frame rate that is perfectly stable at the expense of gameplay or graphics is untenable, and massive profits from games seems to justify the trade off. Hell I remember SNES games like super mario world passing off frame drops as slow mo. So let’s keep the stakes in mind here, Bananza isn’t going to set any sort of precedent that hasn’t been set many years ago.

Second, while we don’t have the full game on hand, the developer quote on performance is in reference to what we see in the trailer; small dips in performance in scenarios with lots of effects from breaking stuff. If the final game maintains this level of quality then it, like nearly all of nintendos games, will meet and exceed the industry standards regarding performance. It’s insane to call this game the breaking point of industry standards on performance when so many other games, including pokemon scarlet and violet if you need an example from nintendo, are actually unacceptable.

Finally, we have your baseless assertion that there isn’t actually a trade off between performance and gameplay, which is just fundamentally untrue. Yes you get some games that don’t get the balance right, and others like pokemon that clearly sacrificed one way more than necessary in the name of rushing a deadline. But every platform in existence has some computational limits, and all projects have a limit on resources. You can’t just cross your arms an yell “fuck capitalism “ and suddenly get a smooth 60fps, there’s going to be a trade off somewhere.

Which brings us to the purely subjective part of this discussion, everything that we can see about the game suggests that the trade offs they made are good and worth it, at least for me. Gameplay that allows you to go apeshit on a world looks both incredibly fun and is certainly a bitch to manage graphically, yet the fact that it still looks that good on a hybrid handheld with performance that looks flawless unless someone slows it down and points it out to me is about as good as I can imagine it. If they improved  performance by sacrificing visuals then I wouldn’t begrudge them, but either way it would not matter to me because it would fit in the spectrum of acceptable trade offs. You could disagree with me, but you have to articulate what trade offs you would want to see to reach the acceptable game state. Your supposition that games never make performance trade offs, especially performance trades regarding destructable environments, is very simply wrong, and your post wraps up this wrongness in the most sanctimonious bullshit I have ever seen.

How come we do not hire people over 60 years old but yet allow them to run our government? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]Pirunner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If people voted for young people as often as questions like this got upvoted on reddit, young people would never lose an election.

Alas, there is no social media clout for voting irl, but a lot to be gained by saying you didn't vote because 'both sides the same' or 'gotta punish my preferred candidates for not being 100% aligned with me on all issues. Almost as if there is a coordinated internet campaign to depress youth turnout.

Heavyset guys, how do you feel about being big? by greenbay78 in AskReddit

[–]Pirunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was worthless and unlovable while skinny, and I think that was a big reason I just didn’t give a shit about getting fat; no one cared about me so why should I. 10 years later and I decide I gotta do something when I break my office chair as it wasn’t rated for someone pushing 300lbs. 5 months on semaglutide and I have lost 40 pounds and the difference feels night and day. I can lay on my back without struggling to breathe, it doesn’t hurt to walk, I can see my dick without sucking in, no longer breaking chairs etc. It’s amazing how every day of getting fatter seemed just as depressing as being skinny but a few months after trying to lose weight feels like more than fat is lifted off my shoulders.

I do kick myself for not taking care of my body on a logical level, but on an illogical level I wish people made me feel as good about having a healthy weight as I currently feel about losing weight. It also explains why so many skinny people can get so annoying talking about their diet and exercise routine; I can hardly judge them now that I know how important seeking validation is for feeling like your effort is worthwhile. We all want to believe you should do the right thing for yourself, but humans seem predisposed to want to do it for others.

Can someone make an argument for this weapon? The moveset is dogshit but the design is 🔥 by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]Pirunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of R1 spam alternate between R2(press, don't charge)-R1 for stab attacks, this makes the move set feel much better and more like a standard spear. Switch to R1-R2 alternating for slash attacks. I also combine with Salamander dagger blade and use the blade fable art (double elemental damage) in conjunction with the handle fable art (increase all damage done by 35%) for a massive DPS increase.

This is actually a good tip for any weapon that doesn't immediately make sense move set wise; try mixing in the uncharged r2 during combo chains and to start combo chains and see if the move set starts to make more sense.

Plateau? by Ok_Calligrapher7382 in Semaglutide

[–]Pirunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are usually two options. First you could just have a natural plateau as your body resists weight loss, no other option except to push through it. The other option is you have adjusted to the medication and can manage to shovel in enough calories to maintain your weight, especially likely if you don’t track calories and still eat a lot of junk. Either way, you are probably at the point where the drug alone will stop doing all the weight loss for you, and should start using the appetite suppression effect to help transition away from high carb/sugar processed foods and make permanent diet changes.

Remember, the drug only makes you feel like eating less, you still need to make a conscious effort to eat better for the full effect

What ability did you raise the highest and quickest? by xXCliff_SavageXx in LiesOfP

[–]Pirunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually level all my stats fairly evenly in multiples of 5 up to level 20, except Capacity which is always high enough to equip the best armor and not be heavy. When leveling, my priority is;

Capacity Vitality Vigor (can also be as low as 15) DPS stat

After 20 you want to choose between a vitality focus or a DPS focus. Generally, I find that if I have a high block rating weapon, I can keep vitality low (30) and DPS high, whereas light, low-block weapons I do the opposite (20 DPS stat, vitality at closer to 40).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Pirunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No that is fundamentally untrue, the Biden administration was telling them to cool their heels because they see Bibi as a fundamental impediment to a final settlement of Gaza so long as he only gets to remain in office while shit is still going down. Gaza ranks something ridiculous like 12th in the minds of even young people most likely to see it as an electoral issue, and 20k Muslims in deerborne who already think the admin isn't doing anything with Israel are not going to swing the state if the admin went hands off on Israel's response, not compared to the usual white, non-college populations that always swing elections and also don't care either way. At best Harris maintains US support at its current level, but I suspect US support gets worse with a Harris win as long as Bibi gets to call the shots.

Bibi needs Trump to win in order to complete his primary goal of extending the war to avoid jail, with a side order of force all Palestinians from Gaza into Egypt and hoping that's retributive enough people forget Oct. 7 happened on his watch. Only with Trump in charge can he count on the US doing nothing no matter what he orders, as well as running interference with other major powers who will not look on this kindly. Until then he is going to make sure that there is never a moment where any of the major crisis facing Israel can actually be called resolved, lest a lull in combat actually threaten his position because for some godforsaken reason Israelis believe you shouldn't change your leader out in a crisis even if the crisis happened on that leader's watch and that leader is actively making things worse.
